  • The collective narratives on global crisis such as the displaced, uneven distribution of resources, invasion of human rights is more than a recurring theme or polemics in the fields of contemporary arts. In the latest projects from Olafur Eliasson, Rirkrit Tiravanija and Ai WeiWei, art works are presented as performative 'platforms' for tackling these undiscriminating reality of human conditions. Here, 'the users' as driving forces of possible change, are postulated as prospective actors/players who lead and collaborate to defy the status-quo. Crossing over the on/off lines, the everyday-activities of exchanging, sharing and networking are strategically deployed and its meaning reconfigured within the context of post/production discourse. This historical, yet unsettling juncture between art and life, dystopian reality and utopian idealism has its formal-conceptual links to Russian Constructivism, Brechtian Learning-Play and Joseph Beuys' Social Sculpture. Based on Nicolas Bourriaud's notion of Postproduction, this paper aims to provide a diachronic analysis on collaborative dispositions of participatory arts practices.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate views of high school students' learning of chemistry as one aspect of conceptual ecology. The results of this study will help us expand our understanding of conceptual change as it is used to evaluate learners. I made use of an interpretative research design based on principles of naturalistic inquiry. The participants in this study were six sophomore students. The picture of a chemistry class we draw from analyzing data is a play on stage with little interaction. Students accept passive and difficult-to-modify views of the learner roles that they should play in the chemistry classroom. Students identified chemistry classes as conservative places. 'Transmission' seems to remain the persistent and dominant classroom cultural dynamic for both the teaching and learning of chemistry. Students should understand about learning processes, and how to play, monitor, evaluate and regulate them. Students should experience the plausibility and fruitfulness of learning chemistry, and it will help students to feel a "love of learning chemistry." As students change their views of learning chemistry, it will help to improve their learning and to experience conceptual change in chemistry learning.

  • A large part of the vast amounts of information produced in the world is born digital, and comes in a wide variety of formats: text, database, audio, film, image. During the meeting of the Organization's Executive Board in May 2001, Member States agreed on the need for rapid action to safeguard digital heritage. The interest of UNESCO in this situation comes as no surprise. UNESCO exists in part to encourage and enable the preservation and enjoyment of the cultural, scientific and information heritage of the world's peoples. The growth of digital heritage and its vulnerability could hardly go unnoticed. Our societies have witnessed the end of the paradigm of the written archive, a paradigm that had developed over hundreds of years. Throughout the twentieth century new media have wisely and modestly joined this prestigious tradition. This paradigm has already been transformed, and the devices in place are unable to deal with the brutal advance of information technologies, and the quantitative inflation which they cause. This goes beyond those institutions specializing in the management of memory: a whole new regime of information will have to be constructed, and quickly, completely transforming old memory and archiving systems. If this shift does not take place, our societies will suffer irremediable damage in their collective social memory.

  • The current study seeks to understand the multi-faceted desires of language learners through the theoretical lens of imagined communities (Norton, 2001). Particularly, the study focuses on the learners of Korean language-one of the less commonly taught languages in the U.S. that has received relatively less attention in previous literature on second language motivation. The study analyzed and compared the narratives told by eleven Korean language learners in a post-secondary language program, and identified four types of imagined communities: Communities of K-pop Culture, Communities of Professionals, Communities of Korean Family and Relatives, and Communities of ethnic Koreans. The study found that these imagined communities were not restricted to a specific region or an ethnic group but encompassed various populations connected through the use of Korean language. The study also found variability within what has been readily labelled as heritage motivation (or motivation related to heritage), as well as striking differences between heritage language learners and non-heritage language learners in terms of their scope of imagination.

  • With the emergence of lifelong learning society and the decrease in school-age population, structural changes of universities are lead to an adult-friendly university system reform. Since 2008, university-based lifelong education activation projects, such as the lifelong learning-centered university cultivation project and the lifelong learning college project have been accelerated as a university lifelong education system support project that integrated both projects in 2015. This study analyzed the present status of university lifelong education system support project management, according to four analysis frameworks; adult-friendly curriculum, adult learner support system, evaluation of diverse learning performances, and empowerment of adult learners, based on adults' learning desire for higher education in a lifelong learning society. University lifelong education system reform suggests to aim at promotion of empowered adult learners, who give themselves positions and roles, through cultural adaptation and integration between generations.

  • This study researched the effect of application systems for media industry by using machine learning method focusing on industrial organization theory. First, for applying the system successfully, formation of sympathy about needs is required. The introduction of machine learning can bring change in each stage of value chain especially, decision making process of investment and production process. In investment side, objective performance prediction data can enhance efficiency, and content diversity can decrease with concentrated investment phenomenon to secured content by the system. In production side, if the system support to make creators decrease simple repeat works, production efficiency will increase.

  • In this article, we conducted a literature review about cognitive aging and social-psychological factors that influence cognitive function in old age. As getting older, cognitive function was mostly seen as declining, even though the effect of aging is differential across domains of cognitive ability. The negative view about cognitive aging might be reflecting social-psychological factors such as age stereotypes. Age stereotypes vary among different cultures, but appear to be negative in general. Negative age stereotypes are related to lower level of memory performances. Older adults who were experimentally presented with positive age stereotypes exhibited better memory performances than those with negative age stereotypes. Self-referent belief, appraisals of one's own cognitive abilities, could also affect actual performance in cognitive tasks. Older adults showed lower self-referent belief than younger adults, and it might explain memory decline in old age. Theoretical explanation and implication about the relationship between social-psychological factors and cognitive abilities were discussed.

  • This study explored the factors affecting the acceptance of public recording in SNS post. Using SPSS 21.0 program and AMOS 21.0 program, major results were derived through exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and path analysis. The results are as follows: First, the risk of personal information leakage on SNS posting has a significant negative impact on the attitude toward SNS posting. Second, the security of the SNS posting has a significant effect on the attitude toward the SNS posting. Third, the concern about privacy of SNS posting has a significant negative impact on the attitude toward SNS posting. Fourth, the attitude toward SNS posting has a significant effect on the intention to accept the SNS posting. The above results suggest that the SNS post recording should be able to collect opinions of SNS users from a long-term viewpoint.

  • This study aims to improve the situation in which accurate job information for small and medium-sized enterprises is not known and it is difficult to identify jobs that meet the preference criteria from the perspective of the 'employer brand'. To this end, through a hierarchical regression analysis of 700 young job seekers, the factors affecting the intention to get a job centered on five value factors (Interest Value, Social Value, Economic Value, Development Value and Application Value) were identified by reflecting the brand categorization theory. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that young job seekers are more interested in work culture, environment, and utilization of their majors, which directly affect job seekers, rather than characteristics of companies such as talent development, products, services, and management, and are influenced by their intention to work. This suggests that the job policy for SMEs needs to be changed from the existing quantitative support-centered to a qualitative improvement that strengthens the use of platform-centered job information.
