In this study, a research model was designed and verified in order to determine whether the communication styles of public library managers affect employees' empowerment, job satisfaction, and life satisfaction. A survey was conducted among employees of four public libraries in the Gyeonggi region and 24 libraries in Seoul, and 229 valid responses were analyzed. The analysis revealed that authoritative communication style influenced employees' job satisfaction, while social communication style influenced their empowerment. Additionally, employees' empowerment impacted their job satisfaction, which in turn affected their life satisfaction. This implies that job satisfaction and life satisfaction of the employees can be achieved after communication and empowerment were well established within the organization. This study is meaningful in suggesting an effective management direction for strengthening the essence and foundation of public libraries by examining the theoretical significance and implications of the research result. This study also suggested that in the future, another research should be conducted based on a variety of characteristics by integrating the different communication styles of researchers.

This study aimed to develop and validate a research model to investigate how the service quality of public libraries, where a 3-dimensional service quality model was applied, impacts user satisfaction and loyalty. We collected 353 valid responses through a survey targeting public library users across 21 locations, considering various regional and library-specific characteristics. Our analysis revealed that physical environment quality (PQ), interaction quality (IQ), and outcome quality (OQ) of service quality influence user satisfaction (US). Additionally, outcome quality (OQ) of service quality impacts user loyalty (UL), and user satisfaction (US) affects user loyalty (UL). We also found that quality improvement is a leading factor for user satisfaction, user satisfaction is the primary factor of user loyalty, and the perception of service quality directly and indirectly affects user satisfaction and loyalty. We concluded that continuous research should be actively conducted to respond to the evolving needs of public library users.

This study seeks to analyze the actual operation status of the school history archive, which collects, preserves, and utilizes school history records, and propose improvement strategies. The subjects of this study were divided into unit school history archives established in each school and integrated school history archives, which collect school history records under the jurisdiction of the Office of Education. The types and functions of school history records and school history archives were first identified, and the status of school history archives overseas was investigated. Afterward, interviews were conducted with six unit schools and five Offices of Education to examine the domestic status. The interview questionnaire was structured according to the following aspects: operation status, records and archives management, and archival information services. Based on this, the status and problems of the unit school type and integrated school history archives were identified, and improvement measures in terms of operation, record management, and record information service were proposed. In addition, comprehensive improvement strategies encompassing the unit school and integrated school archives were suggested. The results of this study can serve as useful material for operating and developing school history archives.

The recent demographic cliff caused the schooling population to steadily decline and the number of college admissions to sharply drop, which led to the prediction of the Ministry of Education wherein 38 universities in Korea will be closed within the next 3 years. As such, the legal, administrative, historical, and informational values of university records shed light on the importance of the follow-up process and management of closed university records. Although closed university records need to be systematically managed according to legal procedures similar to other public records, there is no practical and clear legal standard for the management of such records at present. Moreover, management standards considering the characteristics of (closed) university records and individual universities' situations and specificity have been insufficient. This study, therefore, examines the ambiguous standards for closed university records management and analyzed relevant problems. Furthermore, an integrated management system is suggested as a way to improve the records management of closed universities.

This study aims to present directions for improving information services of medical libraries in small and medium-sized hospitals by exploring the information use behavior and information needs of nurses, medical technicians, and pharmacists who had not been studied. The research design was conducted based on the reviewing theoretical background studies, and in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with nurses, medical technicians, and pharmacists working in small and medium-sized hospitals. The results show their information needs, information use behavior, and perceptions of the medical library in the hospital. Based on these results, this study suggests ways to improve the information services provided by medical libraries in hospitals. This research is meaningful because it was first to explore the information use behavior and information needs of health care professionals working in small and medium-sized hospitals.

This study aims to analyze students' information needs and information-seeking behavior at science schools for gifted through in-depth interviews. The research design was conducted based on previous studies. Through in-depth interviews, this study examined ten students from six out of eight science schools for the gifted in Korea for information needs and overall information-seeking behavior. The results showed the information needs of students at science schools for gifted in the areas of curricular and extracurricular activities as well as the information-seeking behavior in teaching, learning, and research activities, which were the main topics of interest to students based on the ISP model. Based on these results, we identified the preferred information sources in the information-seeking process and discussed the peculiarities and implications of students' information-seeking behavior. The research is meaningful as it can be used as a basis for further research on the science school for gifted library and as a resource for providing services for students with deep interests and talents in science subject areas.

Self-driving is meaningful activity for older persons because it enlarges the range of activity and provides opportunities for social participation. Driving is a complex activity that requires integration of physical, cognitive and sensory functions and is influenced by human and psychological factors. Age related functional deterioration affects the driving ability of older drivers. The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors affecting the risk of accidents and driving cessation of elderly drivers through systematic literature review. MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, KoreaMed, Pubmed were used for searching articles published from 2007 to 2017. 'aged', 'aging', 'automobile driving', 'age factors' were used as search terms and 18 articles were finally selected for analysis among 1,458 articles. In result of the study, the most significant effect showed in the physical domain, the driving habit and the performance function. The most frequent used tools evaluated driving habit and the cognitive function. In demographic characteristics, there was a correlation with the driving discontinue according to sex and age. This study emphasizes the necessity of preparing measures for safety driving with elderly. In addition, it suggests the necessity of systematically services such as individual education programs based on various driving cessation related factors of the elderly.

At present, no outside organization provides systematic support for business archives, even though there are companies that operate their own. To resolve this situation, this study suggested that overseas business archives professionals organization could apply in Korea by analyzing the form of organizations and functional roles. As such, the organization of professionals in overseas business archives was analyzed through their website, literature research, and email interviews of the staff. Based on the analysis, overseas organizations of business archives professionals were established in the form of sections and independent organizations to systematically support business archives through long-term projects. Thus, this study proposed an organizational structure of professionals organizations for the development of domestic business archives and the functional role of supporting activities, educational activities, and publishing activities. In addition, the ultimate development of business archives is clearly no longer the only solution to the change in perception and strategy of individual companies' business records. Moreover, this study is significant as a starting point for discussion on the establishment of business archives professionals or organizations.

New technologies representing the Fourth Industrial Revolution are already being realized in library services. There is not, however, active research on measures to increase work efficiency by introducing a new technology in the work of "classification" that is part of the traditional librarian jobs they should continue in the future. The Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) has not issued a print version since 2018. This study analyzes cases of WebDewey, Classification Web, and UDC Online. The functions required for the development of the Korean Decimal Classification (KDC) web version were derived, and the final functions suitable for the development of the KDC web version were proposed through AHP analysis.

This study aims to analyze the level of members' awareness of records management in the Republic of Korea Army within the institutional context extensively. Accordingly, in-depth interviews were conducted after comparing and analyzing the institutional systems that restricted the members' record management activities. As a result, it was identified that the members were confused by the inconsistency among the systems that defined the work procedures, and that the value of responsibility and efficiency in the records management system does not match the organization's goals. Therefore, the legal justification of the system should be improved in harmony with the responsibilities and efficiency and to match them with the organization's objectives. Moreover, the improved system should be internalized by the members through instructions that are relevant to the content of the system. This study intends to increase awareness in the records management system and improve the system as well.
