  • The purpose of this study is to support the understandings of teachers about the instructional strategies of collaborative problem solving and mathematical modeling as presented in the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum. For this, tasks of the Cubes unit from six grader's and lesson plans were developed. The specific problem solving processes of students and the practices of teachers which appeared in the classes were analyzed. In the course of solving a series of problems, students have formed a mathematical model of their own, modifying and complementing models in the process of sharing solutions. In particular, it was more effective when teachers explicitly taught students how to share and discuss problem-solving. Based on these results this study is expected to suggest implications on how to foster students' problem solving ability as mathematical subject competency in elementary classrooms.

  • The aim of this study was to examine the short-term longitudinal effect of creativity-fostering programs for pre-early childhood teachers on their problem solving ability and self-efficacy. The participants of this study were 67 pre-early childhood teachers (36 from the experimental group and 31 from the control group) in Seoul, Kyunggi-do, and Chungcheong-do, Korea. Pre-early childhood teachers' problem solving ability and self-efficacy was measured three times. Data were analyzed with a $2{\times}3$ ($group{\times}test$) two-way analysis of variance for repeated measures. The change in problem solving and self-efficacy appeared to be dependent on the group and test. Further statistical analysis of the data indicated that the participation of creativity-fostering programs for pre-early childhood teachers was longitudinally effective on their problem solving ability and self-efficacy.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of Capstone Design Program on creative leadership, problem solving ability and critical thinking of nursing students. The subjects of 18 experiment groups taking course in nursing capstone design of U university in P city and 20 control group of K university in G city. Data were collected before and after nursing capstone design class using self-reported questionnaire. Students Creative leadership and problem solving ability showed significant showed improvements after the Capstone Design Program. Creative leadership, Problem solving ability and critical thinking was positively correlated and then Problem solving abilities appeared to be higher improved critical thinking. Therefore, it is recommended that sufficient repetitive practice is to be made in order to improve Creative Leadership, Problem solving ability and critical thinking.

  • This study was attempted to understand the effects of emotional intelligence and positive psychological capital on problem-solving ability of nursing students. This study was conducted on 193 nursing college students located in C and J cities from March 11 to May 31, 2021. Using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program, descriptive stastistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression were analyzed. As a result of the study, the factors affecting problem-solving ability were emotional intelligence, interpersonal satisfaction, and self efficacy and resiliency among the sub-factors of positive psychological capital, in that order, and the explanatory power was 61.7% (F=31.606, p=.000). Based on this study, the problem-solving ability of nursing students development and application of programs to improve positive psychological capital, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal relationships are required.

  • Although fairly descent amount of research outcomes has been generated on problem-based learning(PBL) with regard to science and medical subjects, relatively less outcome has been generated on social science and management subjects. Therefore this study attempts to exam effect of problem-based learning in food service entrepreneurship subject on improving problem solving skills. After literature review, for constructing for this research frame, each class schedules were formed by hybrid-PEL and traditional lecture style respectively then problems, solution, and evaluation process were generated for hybrid-PBL. Through the result, there was hardly any differences occurred before and after traditional lecture approach on students' problem solving skills. There was, however, certain differences appeared on students' skills after hybrid-PBL approach. Through the study, hybrid-PBL learning can be an effective teaching method in social science and management subject for improving students' problem solving skill.

  • This study was done to develop and validate a path model for the causal relationship of nursing information literacy competency and problem solving, self-direct learning, and clinical performance ability of nursing students. Subject were 208 nursing students in the fourth grade of nursing school. Data were collected from June 4 to June 18, 2018. The nursing information literacy competency of nursing students showed direct effects on problem solving ability (${\gamma}=.70$, p<.001) and direct effects on self-directed learning ability (${\gamma}=.53$, p<.001). Nursing information literacy competency showed direct (${\gamma}=.31$, p<.001) and indirect effects (${\gamma}=.31$, p=.007) on clinical performance ability. These variables explained for 46.2% of clinical performance ability. Therefore, it is recommended to develop an education program that can enhance the nursing information literacy competency for improving the problem solving, self-directed learning, and clinical performance ability of nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the mathematics competencies required in middle school Korean language class to find out ways to improve student's debate ability. The results of the analysis showed that creativity and information processing ability in research activities; problem solving ability, creativity, information processing ability in planning activities; reasoning and creativity, information processing ability in rebutting activities; problem solving and reasoning in summary activities. In cross-inquiry activities, problem solving and reasoning, information processing, and creativity are required; creativity in final focus; problem solving and reasoning ability in judgment and general review; preparation time activities require problem solving, reasoning, and information processing ability. Therefore, in order to improve the debate ability of the students, it is required that the mathematics competencies such as problem solving, reasoning, information processing, and creativity are increased.

  • This study was conducted to identify the level of problem-solving ability, critical thinking and satisfaction level of students majoring in dental hygiene, and to identify the impact of problem-solving ability and critical thinking on major satisfaction levels. The research target collected data through a structured questionnaire for 259 students majoring in dental hygienics located in North and South Gyeongsang Province. The analysis results showed that the problem-solving ability of the study subjects was 2.56, critical accidents were 2.58, and the major satisfaction level was 2.32, and the problem-solving ability, critical thinking and major satisfaction level were positively correlated with each other. Among the lower factors of problem solving ability, solution performance and solution model were significant factors that could improve major satisfaction, and among the lower factors of critical thinking, intellectual fairness, intellectual passion/interest, and systematicness were significant factors that could improve major satisfaction. Critical thinking also significantly mediated problem solving ability and major satisfaction level (β=).2602, BCCI [.0908~.4529]). Based on the results, it is believed that dental hygiene education needs to be developed in addition to the establishment of an educational environment that can enhance the ability to solve problems and critical thinking, and that research should be continued to check its effects.
