  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of self-efficacy promoting reducing alcohol program on drinking related knowledge, drinking refusal self-efficacy, drinking outcome expectancy and problematic drinking behavior of women college students over 8 scores of AUDIT-K. Methods: Data were collected from 22 students with intervention program in the experimental group and 24 students with no intervention program in the control group and analyzed using ${\chi}^2$, t-test and ANCOVA. Results: The Drinking related knowledge(F=14.33, p<.001) of experimental group was significantly higher than that of control group and the optimistic drinking outcome expectancy(F=18.28, p<.001), and problematic drinking behavior(F=5.57, p=.003) of experimental group were significantly less than those of control group. Conclusion: it is recommended that college students should receive this program to prevent and reduce their drinking behaviors.

  • Objective : The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between problem drinking and sensory processing features in college students. Methods : From April to June in 2015, mentally healthy 162 college students were completed the questionnaire for problem drinking and sensory processing features. Both Adolescent/Adult Sensory Profile and Alcohol Use Disorder Identification Test-Korean were used as measurements for correlation. Results : Depends on the existence of the problem drinking, there was no statistical differences between groups in sensory processing features. In group of problem drinking, the result indicated the positive correlation between problem drinking and sensory processing feature (r=.195). Conclusion : Problem drinking had significant relationship with sensory sensitivity. Therapists should understand the features of college students with problem drinking. It would be desirable to develop a proper evaluation and intervention programs for these people.

  • The present study aimed to analyze possible causal relationship between drinking problem and depression. In addition, The study examined if poverty status transition is associated with the causal relationship between drinking problem and depression. The study sample consisted of 3,976 adults who have participated in both the first and the second wave survey of the Korea Welfare Panel Study. The causality between drinking problem and depression was analyzed using Latent Difference Scores (LDS) model, which was established in McArdle & Hanagami (2001). Furthermore, it was examined if poverty status transition (represented by four subgroups: poverty-sustained group, poverty-escaping group, non-poverty-sustained group, poverty beginning group) would influence the causal relationship between drinking problem and depression. The major findings are as follows. The result of a LDS model analysis using the entire sample shows that depression at the first wave predicts significantly the change of drinking problem between the first wave and the second wave and also drinking problem at the first wave predicts significantly the change of depression between the first wave and the second wave, which can be interpreted as there is reciprocal causal relationship between depression and drinking problem. In poverty status transition subgroup analyses, the reciprocal causal relationship between depression and drinking problem is held in the poverty-sustained group while depression is a cause of drinking problem both in the poverty beginning group and in the non-poverty-sustained group. However, there is no significant causal relationship between depression and drinking problem in the poverty-escaping group. All these findings indicate that the direction of causality between depression and drinking problem can be varied according the poverty status change, which provides a comprehensive explanation to inconsistent research findings from previous cross-section studies of the relationship between depression and drinking problem.

  • This study was designed to explore the experiences of female victims who had abused by alcohol-abusing spouse. The results were deducted from in-depth interview with 10 female victims by utilizing Giorgi's phenomenological method. The results of research showed that experiences of women could be classified in three stages. From the lack of understanding stage, "ignorance of drunken violence" had appeared. "Confinement of vicious circle of drunken violence" and "dealing with drunken violence in the community" had been found from the coping stage. Finally, from the resting stage "re-defining of the relationship" had been drawn. Based on these results, the practical and political implications were suggested.

The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, hierarchical multiple regression with the SPSS 18.0 program. Results: The problem drinking were 35.7% on AUDIT. (a) Male had significant effect on drinking problem; (b) If you drank alcohol for the first time prior to high school graduation had significant effect on drinking problem; (c) Permanent rental or unlicensed residential had significant effect on drinking problem; (d) Experience in drunk driving had significant effect on drinking problem. Conclusion: It is nessary to education at early childhood for the prevention of drinking problems and regular management for high risk.

  • This study tried to confirm the effective intervention to reduce drinking frequency and problem behaviors among the three interventions; school based, feedback, and behavior change. Meta-analysis was conducted targeting at 16 studies of randomized controlled trial in which alcohol intervention has been applied to adolescent. The drinking frequency and problem behaviors were analyzed by follow up period. There was a significant difference in the feedback intervention to reduce the frequency of drinking under 3 months of follow up period. Also, there was a significant difference in the feedback intervention to reduce the problematic behaviors of drinking between 4 and 12 months of follow up period(p<.05). The study confirmed that feedback intervention is effective in reducing the frequency of drinking during the follow up period under 3 months, and it is effective in reducing the problem behaviors of drinking during the 4~12 months of follow up period. Also, the study confirmed that school-based intervention and feedback intervention were useful in reducing and preventing harmful effects of drinking by adolescents.

  • In this study, data from the 11th year of the Korean Welfare Panel Study (2016), the 12th year (2017), the 13th year (2018), and the 14th year (2019) were used to verify whether drinking problems in adults had an end-to-end effect on depression. The analysis showed that, first, the initial value of depression has a static (+) relationship with the initial value of problem drinking, and a significant relationship with the rate of change in problem drinking. Second, the supply and demand households showed a static relationship with the initial value of depression, the initial value of problem drinking. Third, in the case of people with disabilities, the relationship between the initial value of depression, the initial value of problem drinking, and the amulet (-). Therefore, it was suggested that the development of drinking problem prevention programs and education should be actively carried out in school education before adulthood.
