A Study on Internet Emergency Alert Distribution System Adaptive to the Receiver Characteristics (인터넷 기반의 수신자 맞춤형 재난경보 전달시스템 연구)

  • Effective alerts will drastically mitigate the disaster impacts. One way to enhance the effectiveness is to prepare multiple alert distribution channels. In this paper, we propose a new emergency alert distribution system that will solve the weaknesses of the current distribution systems, such as Cell Broadcasting System and T-DMB Automatic Emergency Alert Service. The weaknesses are: the limitation of message length, small portions of terminals that can receive and display the alert signal, and one-way communication service. To solve these problems, we propose an emergency alert distribution system over the Internet with RSS (Rich Site Summary) format. The system also has the capability of adaptive alert filtering according to the receiver characteristics. We analyzed the characteristics of RSS as an alerting format, and draw functional requirements satisfying use case scenarios. We designed the system only with major requirements and verified it on our test bed. Sending richer message contents through various receiving terminals, the system will achieve more effective emergency alert service.

A Personal Web-Agent System Using Case-Based Learning (사례기반 학습을 이용한 개인형 웹 에이젼트 시스템)

  • Recently, massive amount of infonnation is provided for the internet users. So users want to search information on Internet, but it is difficult to search information what you want. In this paper, we propose a personal Web-agent system using Case-based learning, Web-Guide. Web-Guide consists of two sub-system, interface-system and learning-system. Interface-system operates other web-browser nearly the same and connects user to system. And interface-system transfer datas of current page to learning-queue. Learning-system visit and evaluate the value of each page in learning-queue using evaluation-function that gave weight values occupied by analyzing tag used the character of HTML document. After all users who are known about artificial intelligence well and not made experiments by using Web-Guide, they reached their desired sites faster than before.

  • This paper presents a Web-based interactive and adaptive learning system that helps students learn the pumping lemma for the family of regular languages. Our system allows the students to proceed with their learning according to their individual differences through Web-Based Instruction and gives them opportunities for the interaction so that they can practice exercise related to the learning and gain feedbacks on the results of the exercises immediately. Especially, the system provides adaptive scaffolding that helps learners understand each step for the proof of the pumping lemma. Unlike existing systems that support learning the pumping lemma, the proposed system defines possible errors in advance and provides appropriate messages for corresponding errors. In addition, the system allows the learners to decompose a string into three parts so that they can understand the pumping lemma precisely.

  • Existing web based learning system provides various instruction paths. However, learners are provided with the same instruction content with little consideration of each learner's learning style. Therefore, Current Web based learning is lacking as a system that encourages individual learning, by failing to provide for proper instruction methods for each learner. This prototype system can find the most effective way of learning for each learner by analyzing a learner's learning. It also provides content based on the most effective instruction method for the learner taking into consideration learning style. Especially, this proposed adaptive learning system supporting dynamic link by learning style by evaluation for each steps of leaning process.

  • This study aims at grasping the degree of change on the layout of newspaper through the analysis on the visualization of the Online Newspaper. It was analyzed on the basis of six dependent Online Newspapers. Six news companies' home pages and NAVER news homepage were compared and analyzed. As a result of the analysis, it has been found that the layout of the Online Newspaper has been changed rapidly through the visualization. Especially, the visualizations of some Online Newspaper have already reached the high level, and those of other newspapers are also under way rapidly. The visualization of the Online Newspaper is going on in the way that the size of images and the number of times of their being used in the news stories are increasing. Consequently, the visualization of the Online Newspaper follows the course of that of paper-based newspaper, and the relative importance of 'a newspaper that sees with an eye' to 'a newspaper that reads with an eye' grows bigger and bigger.

A Machine-to-machine based Intelligent Walking Assistance System for Visually Impaired Person (시각장애인을 위한 M2M 기반의 지능형 보행보조시스템)

  • The white stick mainly used for visually impaired person has difficulty in providing location information and effective countermeasures for emergency situations encountered during walking as well as detecting floating obstacles on the ground. In this paper, we propose a machine-to-machine based intelligent walking assistance system for safe and convenient walking of the visually impaired. The proposed system consists of a walking assistance stick used by the visually impaired and a server supporting multiple stick users in remote places through mobile communication networks. The stick equipped with ultrasonic sensors, GPS(global positioning system) receiver and vibrator not only detects floating obstacles, but also offers stick users with present location identification utilizing a text-to-voice conversion technology. Besides providing geographic information, the server notifies the emergency locations of users to guardian and aid agency, and it provides log information during walking such as the place, time and the number of accidents. Test results with a developed prototype system have shown that the system properly performs the functions and satisfies overall system performance.

  • Purpose: Sequence control is widely used by being applied to manufacturing, distribution, construction, and automation in the medical industry. With the development of the fourth industry, artificial intelligence convergence technology in the control field is becoming an important factor in the industry. In particular, it is required to evaluate the safety and innovation of facilities where microprocessors and artificial intelligence are fused to existing systems and develop reliable equipment, so it is intended to develop equipment for educational purposes and drive the development of the field. Method: The self-developed all-in-one artificial intelligence controller module is a device that combines artificial intelligence capabilities with existing sequence and PLC control circuits. As the performance evaluation items of this equipment, the recognition ability of motion, voice, text, color, etc. and the stability and reliability of the circuit were evaluated. Conclusion: After designing the sequence and PLC circuit, the performance evaluation items of the integrated integrated artificial intelligence controller module were all satisfied, and there was no problem in the safety and reliability of the circuit.

Enhancing Retrieval Performance for Hierarchical Compact Binary Tree (계층형 집약 이진 트리의 검색 성능 개선)

  • Several studies have been proposed to improve storage space efficiency by expressing binary trie data structure as a linear binary bit string. Compact binary tree approach generated using one binary trie increases the key search time significantly as the binary bit string becomes very long as the size of the input key set increases. In order to reduce the key search range, a hierarchical compact binary tree technique that hierarchically expresses several small binary compact trees has been proposed. The search time increases proportionally with the number and length of binary bit streams. In this paper, we generate several binary compact trees represented by full binary tries hierarchically. The search performance is improved by allowing a path for the binary bit string corresponding to the search range to be determined through simple numeric conversion. Through the performance evaluation using the worst time and space complexity calculation, the proposed method showed the highest performance for retrieval and key insertion or deletion. In terms of space usage, the proposed method requires about 67% ~ 68% of space compared to the existing methods, showing the best space efficiency.

  • Fire is a disaster that causes irreversible damage to many people due to personal injury and property damage. Various fire detection equipments are installed around us to detect and cope with it quickly. However, due to various problems such as artificial, environmental, and aging, fire detection equipment is activated even though it is not a actual fire, and there are many problems such as delaying the support to the necessary fire scene. In this paper, we analyze the non-fire alarm of the fire detection equipment and propose a system that enables the field staff to check the scene situation through the video as a way to prevent the mobilization due to the misinformation by checking the fire. The purpose of the present invention is to stably cope with a disaster by suggesting a customized automatic guidance system which induces a rapid evacuation by sending an evacuation guidance notification to a range of a fire occurrence neighboring area, and supports a rapid and accurate processing by a rapid dispatch of a firefighter, rather than a wide range of guidance such as an existing emergency disaster guidance letter when it is determined to be an actual fire through the confirmation procedure.

Vehicle License Plate Detection Based on Mathematical Morphology and Symmetry (수리 형태론과 대칭성을 이용한 자동차 번호판 검출)

  • This paper proposes a method for vehicle license plate detection using mathematical morphology and symmetry. In general, the shape, color, size, and position of license plate are regulated by authorities for a better recognition by human. Among them, the relatively big intensity difference between the letter and the background region of the license plate and the symmetry about the plate are major discriminating factors for the detection. For the first, the opened image is subtracted from the closed image to intensify the region of plate using the rectangular structuring element which has the width of the distance between two characters. Second the subtraction image is average filtered with the mask size of the plate. Third, the column maximum graph of the average filtered image is acquired and the symmetry of the graph is measured at every position. Fourth, the peaks of the average filtered image are searched. Finally, the plate is assumed to be positioned around the one of local maxima nearest to the point of the highest symmetry. About 1,000 images taken by speed regulation camera are used for the experiment. The experimental result shows that the plate detection rate is about 93%.
