Optical Noise Reduction using a Solar Cell in a Wireless Optical Interconnection (무선광 연결에서 솔라 셀을 이용한 잡음광 소거)

  • In this paper, a new differential detector is introduced, in which a solar cell is used to reduce the low frequency interference from environmental optical noise. The solar cell also supplies electrical power to the detector circuit using the optical noise power. The DC voltage from the solar cell is used as a power supply to the detector, and the AC voltage is used to reduce the optical noise in a photodiode with the differential detection method. The signal to noise ratio was improved by about 20 dB.

  • A closed loop wireless transmission method adaptive to mobile unit speed is proposed in this paper. A mobile communication node measures the mobile speed based on the transmitted pilot signals through Doppler frequency estimation, and it changes the transmission period of pilot signals as per estimated mobile speed adaptively. The pilot signals with the different transmission periods are transmitted using the different PN sequences with the previous ones without any explicit information about the new period. The corresponding receiver node can detect and extract the transmitted pilot signals through blind search of the transmitted PN sequences of the pilot signals, and it can demodulate and decode the transmitted information using the channel estimation results based on the detected pilot signals. The performance of the proposed method had been analyzed through the simulation under the fading channel environments and compared with the previous methods. The simulation results showed performance improvement of the proposed method over the existing ones.

  • In this study, an E-learning system was developed for vocational rehabilitation training of intellectual disabilities. The developed system is available to have acquirement of knowledge through step by step learning and is configured to relearn through problem-solving and demonstration video. In addition, the learned information was composed to check the configuration which is correctly learning through rehearsal function. The device for rehearsal consists of a transmitter and the receiver. The transmitter is formed Pressure sensor, IR sensor for detecting client's work and Bluetooth module for wireless network. The receiver includes a Bluetooth module for wireless network and USB input terminal for communication with computer.

Experimental Demonstration of Micro LED-to-LED Visible Light Communications (Micro LED-to-LED 무선 가시광 통신의 실험적 증명)

  • LED-to-LED VLC is a technology that uses LEDs as both a transmitter and a receiver unlike the typical VLCs. In this paper, we experimentally demonstrate a micro LED-to-LED VLC using Micro LED. We tested all the possible VLC cases using red, yellow, green, blue, and white color LED as both a transmitter and a receiver, and measured rise time and SNR. Then we calculated channel capacity depending on the LED color sets. Our experimental results show that the best channel capacity is 125 kbps when the transmitter micro LED was blue and the receiver LED was green. We also measured BERs of VLCs using OFDM signal, and we showed a successful micro LED-to-LED VLC upto 250 kbps.

  • The current wireless power charge technologies are based on induction coupling, magnetic resonant coupling, electromagnetic wave, etc. However, the current wireless power charge technologies has several disadvantages including short transfer range, electromagnetic interference, etc. In this paper, we investigate and demonstrate a laser wireless power charge technology. A laser source is used in the transmitter to convert from electric power to optical power and a solar cell or a photodiode is used in the receiver to convert from optical power to electric power. The laser wireless power charge technology may be the most efficient wireless power charge technology in the long distance over than 10 meters. Our experimental results show a transfer efficiency of 2.15% at the 70-m long distance with a 100 mW laser transmitter and a photodiode receiver.

  • This paper discusses the design and fabrication of a wireless VHF receiver for use in air traffic control. The VHF receiver was designed and tested in three modules: a control module, a receiver module and a power module, all of which were integrated into a single block for final testing. The fundamental performance of the receiver, and in particular, sensitivity, the most important factor, is designed to satisfy existing commercial wireless transmitter specifications for air traffic control. The receiver displays a sensitivity of -113 dBm, which is higher performance than existing commercial products, and is suitable for use as a basic component of CNS/ATM.

  • 본 논문에서는 유선망과 무선망이 혼재된 네트워크 환경에서 유선망에서 발생한 혼잡 상황을 송신측에 빨리 알려서 손실된 패킷에 대한 신속한 fast retransmission을 가능하도록 하는 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 유선망과 무선망의 경계에 있는 기지국에 구현되는데, 유선망으로부터 순서가 유지되지 않은 패킷이 3 개 연속해서 오게 되면 수신부로부터 3 개의 중복 ACK 세그먼트가 오기를 기다리지 말고 즉시 송신측에 3 개의 중복 ACK를 인위적으로 만들어 전송함으로써 송신측이 망의 혼잡 상황을 빨리 파악하여 대처할 수 있도록 한다. 특히 무선망 환경은 유선망에 비해 상대적으로 에러가 많이 발생하는 환경이므로 유선망의 혼잡 상황을 무선망의 수신부 측이 중복 ACK를 통해 알도록 하는 것은 상당한 지연을 야기 할 수 있으므로 제시된 기법은 이러한 환경에서 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다. 제안된 기법의 성능 향상 효과를 NS-2를 통한 시뮬레이션을 통해 확인하였다.

  • In this study, we evaluate the reliability of using bluetooth wireless communication method, the industrial, scientific, and medical standards for local wireless communications, in the medical environment. For the study, an ECG measurement system using bluetooth is developed and used in various conditions of medical environment. It is found that the bluetooth communication method has shown a reliable data transmission capability when both transmitter and receiver are positioned in the same room. However, the increase of transmission distance and the existence of a wall prevent the retailable data transmission. Therefore, it is necessary to make sure if reliable data transmission is achieved for individual environments, before we use this technology.

  • In this paper, we show a simultaneous transmission of underwater optical wireless power transfer and underwater optical wireless communication. A laser diode is used for electric-to-optic conversion at the transmitter and a solar cell is used for optic-to-electric conversion at the receiver. We optimized the transmitter and receiver for the best performance. The laser diode is a 100-mW laser diode and showed a conversion efficiency of 18.5%. The experimental results showed a 0.33-% DC-to-DC underwater power transfer efficiency at 5 m and a data rate of 100 kbps at 1 m.

  • 무선전력전송 시스템의 전력 수신부는 많은 경우 송신부에 비해 크기가 작으므로 자계결합 에너지링크 코일의 권선을 비대칭으로 설계할 필요가 있다. 본 논문은 직렬 공진 보상 구조의 자계결합 무선전력전송에서 에너지링크 전압이득과 전력전송효율을 동시에 고려해 전력변환회로 관점에서의 비대칭 코일의 도식적인 분석 및 설계 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 설계평면을 통해 에너지링크 코일의 정렬이 어긋날 때 혹은 부하요구가 변할 때 에너지링크의 전압이득과 전력전송효율 변화를 직관적으로 예측할 수 있으며 주어진 설계조건에 따라 에너지 링크를 간단히 설계할 수 있다. 본 제안방법은 회로 시뮬레이션을 통해 검증 되었다.
