Reliability Based Design of Caisson type Quay Wall Using Partial Safety Factors (부분안전계수를 이용한 케이슨식안벽의 신뢰성설계법)

  • Partial safety factors(PSFs) for Level I reliability based design of caisson type quay walls were calculated. First order reliability method(FORM) based PSFs are the functions of sensitivities of limit state function with respect to design random variables, target reliability index, characteristic values and first moment of random variables. Modified PSFs for water level and resilient water level are newly defined to keep consistency with the current design code. In the numerical example, PSFs were calculated by using a target reliability index. Seismic coefficient is defined to show extreme distribution. It was found that PSFs for seismic coefficient becomes smaller as the return period for design seismic coefficient grows longer.

  • This paper introduces an effective methodology for reliability-based design optimization of electromagnetic products, where a performance measure approach is adopted to accurately assess probabilistic constrains. Two design problems consisting of a loudspeaker and a superconducting magnetic energy storage system are considered. The efficiency of the proposed method in evaluating the failure probability of performances during the optimization process are compared with the existing method based on the reliability index approach. Moreover, in term of the accuracy of probability failure values, optimized design results are examined with reference values obtained from the Monte Carlo simulation.

  • 실제적인 문제에서 신뢰성 기반 최적 설계(RBDO)를 구현하기 위해서는 유한요소 모델을 해석하기 위한 상용 프로그램과 설계한 것에 대한 신뢰성을 산정할 수 있는 프로그램을 통합하고 최적화 알고리듬을 적용하여야 최적화를 수행하여야만 한다. 또한 최적화 과정에서 최적상태에서 제약조건이 비활성 영역에서 놓이게 되는 것을 방지하기 위해서 제약조건 최적화 문제를 비제약 조건 최적화 문제로 바꾸어 주는 장애 함수를 사용하여 최적화를 수행하였다. 그리고 이 방법론을 기존의 신뢰성기반 최적화 방법론, 즉 신뢰도지수 접근방법과 목표성능치 접근방법과의 비교를 하였다.

A Study on the Reliability of S/W during the Developing Stage (소프트웨어 개발단계의 신뢰도에 관한 연구)

  • Many software reliability growth models(SRGM) have been proposed since the software reliability issue was raised in 1972. The technology to estimate and grow the reliability of developing S/W to target value during testing phase were developed using them. Most of these propositions assumed the S/W debugging testing efforts be constant or even did not consider them. A few papers were presented as the software reliability evaluation considering the testing effort was important afterwards. The testing effort forms which have been presented by this kind of papers were exponential, Rayleigh, Weibull, or Logistic functions, and one of these 4 types was used as a testing effort function depending on the S/W developing circumstances. I propose the methology to evaluate the SRGM using least square estimater and maximum likelihood estimater for those 4 functions, and then examine parameters applying actual data adopted from real field test of developing S/W.

Flexural Reliability Assessment of PSC-I Girder Rail Bridge Under Operation (사용중 PSC-I 거더 철도 교량의 휨모멘트에 대한 신뢰도 분석)

  • It is necessary to determine reliability indexes of existing railway bridges prior to setting up a proper target reliability index that can be used to introduce a reliability based limit state design method to design practice. Reliability is evaluated for a six PSC-I girder railway bridge, which is one of many representative types of double-track railway bridges. The reliability assessment is carried out for an edge girder subjected to bending moment. In the assessment, the flexural resistance and the fixed-load effect were obtained using existing statistical values from previous research on the introduction of limit state design to road bridge design. On the other hand, the live-load effect was determined using statistical values obtained from field measurement for the Joong-ang corridor, on which heavy freight trains are frequently passing. The reliability assessment is performed by AFOSM(Advanced First Order Second Moment method) for the limit state equation, and a sensitivity analysis for the reliability is performed for each factor of the load and resistance effects.

  • To identify the stability of cantilever retaining wall in safe state by the deterministic method, these potential modes of such geotechnical failures as bearing capacity, horizontal sliding and overturning are analysed using Advanced First Order Second Moment (AFOSM) method. All design variables are assumed of the normal distribution and to be statistically independent. Considering the correlations between the single modes, structural system reliability index is 2. 05. Even if the safety factors are larger than the required value in the codes' by the conventional deterministic method, the system reliability of this structure may not be Judged to be safe state since the system reliability index is much lower than general value of 3.

Suggestion of Load and Resistance Factored Design Value for PHC Bored Pile (PHC 매입말뚝의 하중저항 설계정수 제안)

  • The limit states design method is replacing the allowable stress design method worldwide, e.g. the design code of ISO and various construction codes of Korea are adopting the reliability based limit state method. This paper proposed LRFD design value which is one of limit states design method for the PHC bored pile used as building foundation. This paper analysed 81 load test results and the bearing design(Meyerhof method & SPT-CPT conversion method), and proposed LRFD value for each design reliability Index 2.33 and 3.0 for PHC bored pile. LRFD value of PHC bored pile represents 0.36~0.44 for Meyerhof method and 0.24~0.31 for SPT-CPT conversion method according to the deign reliability index.

  • 본 연구의 목표는 돌발홍수 예 경보시스템(Flash Flood Warning System, FFWS)의 효용성 극대화를 위한 레이더 자료의 품질향상 기법을 개발하는 것이다. 지금까지 사용되어온 레이더 자료의 품질향상 기법들은 모두 자료의 평균값에 맞추어져 개발되었다. 그러나 돌발홍수 예 경보시스템에서 사용되는 강우강도 임계값은 평균값과 큰 차이가 난다. 따라서 레이더 자료를 이용하여 추정하는 큰 강우강도의 신뢰도는 떨어지게 된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 돌발홍수 예 경보시스템에 사용되는 목표 강우량에 대한 강우추정 관계식의 매개변수 추정 기법을 개발하고자 한다. 이를 위해 비슬산 레이더 반사도 자료와 비슬산 레이더 관측반경 내 위치한 AWS 지점의 강우자료를 이용하였다. 먼저, 강수입자분포(Drop Size Distribution, DSD)를 지수분포로 가정하여 유도한 레이더 강우추정 관계식을 재검토하였다. 다음으로 관측된 비슬산 레이더 반사도 자료를 10dBZ 단위로 구분하여 레이더 반사도 구간별로 레이더 반사도 자료와 강우자료 쌍에 대한 DSD 매개변수를 산정하였다. DSD 매개변수를 산정하기 위해 비슬산 레이더 반사도 자료와 AWS 지점의 강우자료를 지수분포로 가정하여 유도한 강우추정 관계식에 적용하였다. 다음으로 목표 강우량에 대한 강우추정 관계식의 매개변수 추정을 위해 레이더 반사도 구간별로 DSD 매개변수의 대푯값을 결정하였다. 마지막으로 지수분포로 가정하여 유도한 레이더 강우추정 관계식에 레이더 반사도 구간별 DSD 매개변수의 대푯값을 적용함으로써 목표 강우량에 대한 강우추정 관계식의 매개변수를 추정하였다.

Analysis of LRFD Resistance Factor for Shallow Foundation on Weathered Soil Ground (풍화토지반 얕은기초에 대한 LRFD 저항계수 분석)

  • Recently the necessity of developing the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) for shallow foundation has been raised to implement to the domestic design codes related to geotechnical engineering since the limit state design is requested as international technical standard for the foundation of structures. In this study, applicability of LRFD for shallow foundation on weathered soils was investigated and resistance factor for this case was proposed. The quantitative analyses on the uncertainty and resistance bias for shallow foundation on weathered soil ground were performed by collecting the statistical data about domestic case studies for design and construction of shallow foundation. Reliability analyses for shallow foundation were first performed using FDA (First-order Design value Approach) method. Resistance factors were calibrated using the load factors obtained from the specifications of shallow foundations on weathered soil ground. The influence of the load factors developed in this study on the resistance factors were discussed by comparing with the resistance factor obtained from using AASHTO load factors.

Determination of Resistance Factors of Load and Resistance Factor Design for Drilled Shaft Based on Load Test (LRFD 설계를 위한 현장타설말뚝의 주면지지력 저항계수 산정)

  • Load Resistance Factor Design method is used increasingly in geotechnical design world widely and resistance factors for drilled shafts are suggested by AASHTO. However, these resistance factors are determined for intact rock conditions; by comparison, most of bedrocks in Korea have weathered condition, so that applying the AASHTO resistance factors is not reasonable. Thus, this study suggests the proper resistance factors for design of drilled shaft in Korea. The 22 cases of pile load test data from 8 sites were chosen and reliability-based approach is used to analyze the data. Reliability analysis was performed by First Order Second Moment Method (FOSM) applying 4 bearing capacity equations. As a result, when the Factor of Safety (FOS) was selected as 3.0, the target reliability indexes (${\beta}_c$) were evaluated as 2.01~2.30. Resistance factors and load factors are determined from optimization based on above results. The resistance factors ranged between 0.48 and 0.56 and load factors for dead load and live load are evaluated as approximately 1.25 and 1.75 respectively. However, when the target reliabilities are considered as 3.0, the resistance factors are evaluated as approximately 50% of the results when the target reliability index was 2.0.
