  • The reliability of flight control system(FCS) for Unmanned Air Vehicle(UAV) is underestimated because of the design restrictions such as small size, low cost and light weight. However because the failure of FCS may cause the loss of aircraft, the reliability of FCS must be analysed and validated whether it meet the reliability requirements in design phase. In this paper the failure rate of subsystems was divided with its function based on the design experience of FCS. The redundancy models which satisfy the system reliability requirements were suggested. These results may be utilized in the hardware design of FCS.

  • The procedure of design for reliability which consists of reliability analysis and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis(FMEA) is established and reliability assesment is performed for the nano-satellite air-launching rocket, Mirinae II. By means of using the reliability analysis result, the feasibility to insert the Mirinae II to the target orbit for given mission time under operating environment is assessed. During the reliability analysis process, the system is categorized by Work Breakdown Structure(WBS), and reliability structure is defined by both Reliability Block Diagram(RBD) and schematics of the system. FMEA is used to determine the risk priority number of components and parts. The target reliability is satisfied by changing the design of components and parts with high-risk, hence the design for reliability to put the satellite in to the target orbit safely has been performed.

  • Calibration of load-resistance factors for the limit state design of perforated caisson breakwaters are presented. Reliability analysis of 12 breakwaters in nationwide ports was conducted. Then, partial safety factors and load-resistance factors were sequentially calculated according to target reliability index. Load resistance factors were optimized to give one set of factor for limit state design of breakwater. The breakwaters were redesigned by using the optimal load resistance factor and verified whether reliability indices larger than the target value. Finally, some load-resistance factors were proposed by changing target reliability index.

  • It is very important to set a reliability target and verify the requirement when procuring the rolling stock in the aspect of safety, availability and LCC. While there are a few different methods to verify the reliability target, it is required that the most appropriate method should be used considering the characteristics of rolling stock itself and the operation environment. Even though recently the quantitative reliability requirements are widely adopted in domestic market, there is no substantial contents in the various standards and guidelines. In this study we investigate the various reliability demonstration test plans and evaluate them for rolling stock application. And three test plans among them were applied to the real operation data.

  • Quantitative RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) is the one of the important indicator that shows the quality of rolling stock. It is usually required in the domestic and abroad purchase specification of rolling stock. And achieving and demonstrating the quantitative RAM goals is also required. In this study, the method to set up these goals will be proposed in the aspects of service and logistic reliability, operational, achievement or inherent availability and maintainability. And we apply this proposed method to the real operation data.

  • The Advanced First Order Second Moment(AFOSM) method is commonly used to determine partial safety factors in the development of probability based LRFD code. However, design format using load and resistance factors based on this method may result in different reliability levels from specified ones. Reliability-Conditioned(RC) method recently proposed by Ayyub et al. gives partial safety factors which do not affect the target reliability level as specified. However, this method has some numerical difficulties and the procedure is not consistent. The proposed RC/AFOSM combined method has not only numerical consistency, but also results in almost constant partial safety factors with respect to various design conditions, and the resulting reliability levels are very close to specified ones.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of SCM on PM's capabilities and sustainable benefit sharing in leading global companies. To achieve this, statistical analyses were carried out through an empirical questionnaire survey of 426 PMs in SCM companies. The results showed that SCM commitment, vision and goal sharing have positive effects on PM's capabilities in leading global companies, boosting PM capability. Moreover, sustainable benefit sharing was improved along with SCM trust building, vision and goal sharing in global leading companies, supporting the usefulness of these variables. In contrast, SCM information sharing and trust building did not lead to significant acceleration of PM's capabilities, rejecting these variables. These findings indicate that SCM information sharing or trust building does not really help simple members to accelerate PM's capabilities.
