This research focuses on how users behave when they search by subject using online public access catalog(OPAC). Major findings are as follows. 1)Main access poults are subject field$(55.2\%)$and title field$(42.2\%)$. 2) The search failure rate in subject searching is $59.3\%$. 3) Ma]or reasons for subject search failures are two-fold : use of inappropriate search terms $(48.5\%)$ and non-use of Boolean Operators$(42.5\%)$. 4) In order to overcome search failures users tend to change originally used search terms$(42.0\%)$ and search fields$(33.8\%) into different ones.

An updated list is given of 113 species of scale insects which have been intercepted on plants imported into Korea during the period of 2007 to 2011. Information on the number of interceptions, origin, host plants and distribution of species intercepted at Korean ports of entry is provided. In addition, data on intercepted species was analyzed to determine potential invasive species of scale insects that could threaten Korean plants.

In most telephone surveys in Korea, telephone numbers are selected from the directories. Inevitably, such samples may lack representativeness due to poor coverage rate. To resolve the problem, Kang et al.(2008) implemented RDD(random digit dialing) method for nationwide sampling in Korea. The aim of this study is to compare an RDD sample with a traditional telephone quota sample that were collected independently by two survey institutes commissioned by the KBS-MBC consortium for the 2007 Presidential Election of Korea.

Language skills in science education seem to have a great impact on student achievement. Most of the language skills affecting students' science learning can be accounted for an understanding of scientific terms. The ultimate goal of this study is selecting and grading the scientific terms for science education. As a basic research, we investigated scientific terms contained in science textbooks, because they are the most basic and selected terminologies. As a result of investigation of scientific terms in physics units of middle school science textbooks, we made a list of 556 scientific terms by grade level. This includes 249 words for grade 7, 170 words for grade 8, and 137 words for grade 9.

This study intends to evaluate the quality of the Digital Library System DB and to suggest methods for its quality control. The evaluation criteria are hit rates, redundancy, completeness and accuracy. In spite of high hit rates excessive records representing one work resulted serious redundancy. The average completeness rate of records was $48.12\%$ due to low level of description. The Analysis of accuracy showed various errors in most of records corresponding to $92\%$. Emphasis on analysing the errors in detail detected the causing factors and suggested practical guidelines for school libraries' catalogers.

This study explores the importance of OSI standards in library environment and specifically of Z39.50/SR information retrival protocols and ILL protocol. Libraries and other information systems need to implement these ap lication protocols in order to facilitate the sharing of library information resources through information networks. The foreign systems which have implemented the standard protocols are reviewed in this paper, and it is suggested that search results of OPACs and other bibliographic databases be directly used for electronic document request for fast document delivery, first by implementing Z39.50 OPACs and standard interlibrary loan systems and next by integrating the two systems in Korean electronic libraries.

The information about eBook cannot be added automatically to library catalog because the eBook Service Provider does not provide enough eBook metadata. Therefore, this paper was developed the eBook library's metadata in order to maintain the compatibility and interoperability analyzed the eBook service provider's metadata, KS X 6100 metadata, Dublin Core, MARC, and TEI Header, and extracted common meradata elements from them. We defined these common metadata elements as a core element and added other elements that uniquely describe eBook characteristics as a detailed adn additional elements for eBook metadata.

The purpose of this paper is to introduce and discuss a newly-constructed metadata database system that facilitates the retrieval of faculty syllabi available on the Internet. This gateway system aims to provide users with one-stop access to syllabi posted by the faculty of the institutes of post-secondary education from all around the world. Several elements of the Dublin Core (DC) and other supplementary elements were used for cataloging the syllabi. The conceptual schema of all the selected elements of the syllabi was developed following the entity-relationship model. The metadata of the syllabi was then stored in a relational database system. Various searching and browsing interfaces were implemented to facilitate effective retrieval. The prototype, named as Gateway to Faculty Syllabi (GFS), is available at http:/Ais.skku.ac.kr/gfs/.

Based on the specimens of Tortricidae collected from North Korea by Hungarian Natural History Museum, totally twelve species were identified. Among them, two species, Notocelia rosaecolana Doubleday and Rhopobota ustomaculana Curtis, are reported for the first time from North Korea. All identified species is enumerated with their available information including the collecting localities, the distributional ranges and host plants.

The purpose of this research was to develop a nursing intervention list for family caregivers. The specific steps were as follows : 1. Analyze the concept, Soobal, based on literature review and case observation. 2. Generate an initial list of defining activities for ‘Caregiver Support : Soobal’. 3. Validate the defining activities. 4. Complete the final list of defining activities. A two-round Delphi questionnaire with an adaptation of Fehring's methodology was used to establish the content validity of intervention, Caregiver Support : Soobal. The definition of ‘Caregiver Support : Soobal’ was provision of the necessary information, advocacy, and support to facilitate primary patient care by someone other than a health care professional in Korean traditional manners. Ten nurse experts participated in Round I and II of this study. They were asked to rate activities that examplified the interventions on a scale of 1 (activity is not at all characteristic) to 5 (activity is very characteristic). Round I contained 15 ‘critical’ activities and 10 ‘supporting’ activities, while round II contained 16 ‘critical’ activities and 6 ‘supporting’ activities. No activities were considered to be ‘nonsupporting’ in both round I and II. Finally, the definition and 25 defining activities were developed. Intervention, Caregiver Support : Soobal, attained an ICV score of .82. This study provides a protocol model to develop Korean nursing interventions.
