  • In this paper, we propose a motion chair for flight simulators that can be precisely controlled using an FPGA. Existing motion chairs are unsuitable for a flight simulator environment, where natural position changes occur due to a sense of disconnection arising from simple mechanical motor operations. This paper, presents a motion chair suitable for flight simulation through BLDC motor control through the FPGA module. In addition, the operating load was improved by controlling the drive shaft and control device of the motion chair as a single driver. As a result of comparing the control signal and feedback data to evaluate the performance of the implemented system, it was confirmed that the change was stable without error in the target position, and the high-speed camera showed a natural flowing state change suitable for flight simulation. In the future, we plan to develop it into an integrated flight motion platform linked to virtual reality hardware.

  • A submarine good military weapon because of its confidentiality and intimidating power. Therefore, training warfighters how to maneuver submarine is very important. Because submarine is very expensive and has regional and temporal limitations, M&S(Modeling and Simulation) can be a good alternative. However, as the existing M&S systems of submarine generally use expensive commercial software and dedicated hardware, which cause the warfighters to take troubles to visit the secured places, and then to train themselves during limited time slots. Also, many M&S systems have only one-channel display system which reduces the sense of immersiveness. Another problem is that many heterogeneous simulators can hardly be used as an integrated system. To solve these problems, X3D, a platform-independent and open standard graphic file format, is used with the general-purpose PCs. To increase immersiveness, multi-channel display system and a motion chair are used. Finally, HLA/RTI is used to integrate individual components of the simulator. All of these are verified through experiments.

  • In the era of the 4th industrial revolution in order to cultivate excellent human resources equipped with international competitiveness and new technologies the university's engineering education is gradually improving through a number of studies. Comprehensive design in engineering is a course that emphasizes the importance of design education and nurtures future talents that are practically needed in the industrial field. In this study focusing on the researcher's 2019 engineering-related comprehensive design courses students apply new technologies learned in college to actual practice propose creative ideas and develop practical results that solve problems of local welfare facilities. The curriculum was described in which students took the initiative to find problems in community welfare facilities and developed VR contents for disaster response education for the socially disadvantaged. Through this study, students solved the motion limitations of existing earthquake VR contents by connecting them with motion chairs. As a result, it is meaningful that students contributed to the local community as well as cultivating their ability to adapt in the field.
