The major role of a spacecraft structure is to keep and support the spacecraft safely in all the launch environment, on-orbit condition and during ground-transportation and handling. In a satellite development, a structural and thermal model (STM) is developed for two goals ; demonstration of a structural and a thermal stability. In the structure point of view, STM is used to verify the static/dynamic characteristics of structure in the initial stage of development. In this paper, the structure design/analysis of high resolution LEO earth observation satellite STM is described. Also, a low level sine vibration test is performed and compared to the results of finite element analysis.
Recognition of parallel structure at early stage of sentence parsing can reduce the complexity of parsing. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised language-independent probabilistic model for recongition of parallel noun structures. The proposed model is based on the idea of swapping constituents, which replies the properties of symmetry (two or more identical constituents are repeated) and of reversibility (the order of constituents is inter-changeable) in parallel structures. The non-symmetric patterns that cannot be captured by the general symmetry rule are resolved additionally by the modifier information. In particular this paper shows how the proposed model is applied to recognize Korean parallel noun phrases connected by "wa/kwa" particle. Our model is compared with other models including supervised models and performs better on recongition of parallel noun phrases.

In this paper, nonlinear analysis for reinforced concrete structure for power transmission line is performed by considering the characteristics of the failure, which are depend on loading conditions and concrete material models. On the numerical evaluation for the failure behavior, the finite element analysis is applied. For the concrete material model, microplane model based on concrete damage is introduced. However, to describe the crack bridging effect of long and short fiber of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC), tensile softening model is suggested and applied for SFRC. An numerical results by finite element technique are compared with the experiment results for box culvert specimen. Comparing on the experimental and analytical results, validity and reliability of numerical analysis are investigated.
This study concerned the interoperability between the structural-analysis model and the default detail model in steel structures available for the structural-design process based on BIM. The purpose of the study was to develop an interface module that can perform data conversion between the analysis and design applications and the BIM applications, through the dotnet frame work development environment using OpenAPI provided by the BIM application vendor. The direct-link method was applied for BIM interoperability. A basic-frame model for detail design and modeling was created from the structural-analysis model to verify if the application was developed. Finally, the proposed process was compared with the existing process to verify the efficiency of the former.
XML documents consist of elements that are basic units of information. When the structure of XML documents is changed dynamically, we need to update structure information efficiently without changing the information of the index structure for fast retrieval. In this paper, we propose a dynamic indexing model scheme that updates the index structure in real time as the structure of XML documents is changed by insertion and deletion of elements. Our dynamic indexing model consists of a structure information representation method and a dynamic index structure. The structure information representation method supports various types of structure retrievals. Our dynamic index structure processes various structural queries efficiently. We show through various experiments that our method outperforms existing ones in processing various types of queries such as content based queries, structural queries and hybrid queries.
An XML document has a structure which may be irregular. It is difficult for end-users to comprehend the irregular document structure exactly. For these XML documents, an end-user has a difficulty in using structured query. Therefore, an end-user formulates no structured query or a query which has a little structure information. In this context, we propose new retrieval models which use the structured information for ranking and compensate the difference between user query structure and document structure. To ease with querying, we assume the independence among querying paths which represent structural constraints. Since this assumption makes degradation of the expression power of a query language, we also propose a model which overcome this problem. As there had been no test collections for XML documents, we made a small test collection from TIPSTER of the RTEC and experimented on this collection without a structured query, From this experiment, we showed that our models improve average precision about 67% over conventional Vector-Space model.

The paper provides a methodology of identifying a substructure model when sectional and material properties of the structure are not the a priori information. In defining a substructure model, it is required that structural responses be consistent with the actual behavior of the part of the structure. Substructure model is identified by estimating boundary spring constants and stiffness properties of the substructure. Static and modal system identification methods have been applied using responses measured at limited locations within the substructure. Simulation studies for static and dynamic responses have been carried. The results and associated problems are discussed in the paper. The procedure has been also applied to an actual multi-span plate-girder Gerber-type bridge with dynamic responses obtained from a moving truck test and construction blasting vibrations.
