Gas Production of Chemical Leavening Agents and Effects on Textures of Cookies (화학 팽창제의 가스 발생과 쿠키의 텍스쳐 비교)

  • The production rates of leavening gases and textures of cookies were investigated with various chemical leavening agents(baking powders). The chemical leavening agents could be divided into three group of a fast-acting group such as potassium bicarbonate, tartaric acid, aluminium ammonium sulfate, and fumaric acid, a slow-acting group such as ammonium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, $glucono-{\delta}-lactone$, and ammonium chloride. and a double-acting group such as anhydro monocalcium phosphate, disodium dihydrogenpyrophosphate, and aluminium potassium sulfate according to the different production rate of gases. The leavening rate of ammonium bicarbonate, which was the highest of all leavening agents used in this experiment, was 131.25%. But its after-taste in a cookie was not good due to the residual ammonia. $Glucono-{\delta}-lactone$ only had no after-taste. The higher leavening rate, the more peaks in texture profile graph. Ammonium bicarbonate showed the most peaks in this experiment. It was found that the number of peak had correlation with brittleness of cookies $(r^2=0.8176)$ and brittleness of cookies was different as to various chemical leavening agents.

Effect of Aluminum Potassium Sulfate Addition on the Color Change in Caesalpinia Sappan Dyeing by Rice Straw Ash Solution (볏짚 잿물 매염에 의한 소목 염색에서 명반 첨가가 색상변화에 미치는 영향)

  • The primary purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in the characteristics of the mordants, synthetic aluminum mordants and ash solutions as natural mordants, used in Caesalpinia sappan dyeing. By introducing aluminum potassium sulfate in the ash solutions, the behavior of the aluminum in the ash solutions were observed. In the rice straw ash solutions, adjusted to the levels of pH6 and pH10, the aluminum potassium sulfate was introduced to achieve various concentration levels. From the analysis of the ash solution of pull, $K^+$ and $Na^+$ ion concentrations were found to be extremely high, while $Al^+$ ion concentration was 0. The color development in the Caesalpinia sappan dyeing by ash solution mordanting was found to be mainly governed not by the mordanting actions of the metallic ions but by those of alkali components. In the case of cotton, the application of pH10 ash solution promoted reddish color development compared to the case of non-mordanting, regardless of the aluminum potassium sulfate addition. In the case of silk, the application of pH10 ash solution increased a* value and decreased b* value compared to the case of non-mordanting.

  • By supplying air intermittently in various mode, the effects of oxic/anoxic time ratio and air scrubbing in aeration condition on the membrane flux and permeability were investigated. When suction pump stops, vacuum pressure remains inside the suction pump. Therefore, the effect of remaining vacuum pressure in the suction pump on fouling of membrane was investigated. The effect of EPS (Extra cellular Polymeric Substance) which is generated due to the long SRT and high concentration of MLSS and the dose of coagulant on the membrane were also investigated. The suitable oxic/anoxic time ratio for the best removal efficiency of organic matter and nitrogenous matter was 40 minutes (Oxic) : 20 minutes (Anoxic). At this time ratio, alum was dosed into the aeration tank. The result of dosing alum was that the concentration of alum solution might affect nitrification and denitrification. To remove 1 mg/L of phosphorus in MBR process, it needs 0.75 mg/L of alum solution.

The Strength Properties Activated Granulated Ground Blast Furnace Slag with Aluminum Potassium Sulfate and Sodium Hydroxide (칼륨명반과 수산화나트륨으로 활성화된 고로슬래그 미분말의 강도 특성)

  • In this paper, the effects of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and aluminum potassium sulfate ($AlK(SO_4)_2{\cdot}12H_2O$) dosage on strength properties were investigated. For evaluating the property related to the dosage of alkali activator, sodium hydroxide (NaOH) of 4% (N1 series) and 8% (N2 series) was added to 1~5% (K1~K5) dosage of aluminum potassium sulfate ($AlK(SO_4)_2{\cdot}12H_2O$) and 1% (C1) and 2% (C2) dosage of calcium oxide (CaO). W/B ratio was 0.5 and binder/ fine aggregate ratio was 0.5, respectively. Test result clearly showed that the compressive strength development of alkali-activated slag cement (AASC) mortars were significantly dependent on the dosage of NaOH and $AlK(SO_4)_2{\cdot}12H_2O$. The result of XRD analysis indicated that the main hydration product of $NaOH+AlK (SO_4)_2{\cdot}12H_2O$ activated slag was ettringite and CSH. But at early ages, ettringite and sulfate coated the surface of unhydrated slag grains and inhibited the hydration reaction of slag in high dosage of $NaOH+AlK(SO_4)_2{\cdot}12H_2O$. The $SO_4{^{-2}}$ ions from $AlK(SO_4)_2{\cdot}12H_2O$ reacts with CaO in blast furnace slag or added CaO to form gypsum ($CaSO_4{\cdot}2H_2O$), which reacts with CaO and $Al_2O_3$ to from ettringite in $NaOH+AlK(SO_4)_2{\cdot}12H_2O$ activated slag cement system. Therefore, blast furnace slag can be activated by $NaOH+AlK(SO_4)_2{\cdot}12H_2O$.

Studies on Sericin Fixation by Use of Alum Meal (명반처리에 의한 견직물개선연구 -Sericin 정착을 중심으로 하여-)

  • This has been carried out how the sericin insoluble fixations of raw silk should be with potassium alum. This is learned from the leather tanning technique which the process works with collagen, a kind of proteins. Former reports had shown such works, however, they did not consider the moisture absorbability after their process reports by using chromium alum, formalin or vinyl acetate grafting. This report, however, paid attention to protect such absorbability as well as sericin fixation, so far it may be useful for plactical use of silk. In order to clear how the sericin is fixed with such chemicals, fundermental mechanism of weding process and chemical reaction against proteins were also discussed. The obtained results of the report are as followings. 1. Alum should not be treated for raw silk with high temperature bath like other reports because such treat induces raw silk to be stiffly after the treat. 2. It is recommended that raw silk should be treated with alum solution at room temperature for more than three hours. Even in this case, the use of only alum with raw silk could to fix sericin some how, but it increased the water proofness of the silk. 3. 1% of alum solution was found to be able to fix the sericin of raw silk. 4. In case we consider only sericin fixations, a combination treat of 1% alum for three hours and 0.5% NaOH for ten minutes method showed the best result. 5. In case we consider sericin insoluble fixation and moisture absorbility, the reversive combination of the above process was found to be the best results. 6. Sericin fixing evidence was shown with drying feature curves of wed each treated silk where we could to analyze how the chemical nature is changed after each treat. 7. Deguming ratio may be obtained up to 4.3% after the alum combination treat with regular raw silk. Such ratio was considered to be good enough for the purpose when the textile is washed with warm soap water. 8. Moisture absorbability of the combination treat of alum and NaOH was found to be good enough as well as non treated silk. 9. The tenacity and elongation of the treated silk did not change even after three month. 10. Above all, this method is considered to be better process than other coloured fixing (tannin method. Cr-alum method) or smell fixing (formalin method. vinyl acetate method).

Degradation of Natural Dyed Silk Fabrics under Ultraviolet Light(UV) -Focused on Gardenia and Sappanwood- (자외선에 의한 천연 염색 견직물의 취화 연구 -치자, 소목 염색을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the degradation of silk fabrics dyed with gardenia and sappanwood by Ultraviolet Light(UV). To asses the effect of uv on dyed silk fabrics, physical and chemical properties of samples were explored. K/S value rapidly decreased with increasing exposure time. Mordanting improved ultraviolet-cut ability and the sappanwood dyed samples were superior to those of gardenia dyed in ultraviolet-cut ability. Color progressively faded away as uv exposure time increased, accordingly, $L^*,\;a^*,\;b^*$, H/VC, ${\Delta}E$ were changed. Morphological change observed with SEM represented degradation of silk fabrics from the outer fibril to the inner fibril. Tensile Strength abruptly decreased as uv exposure time increased and the mordanted samples showed higher tensile strength than the unmordanted. FT-IR analysis confirmed that main peaks at 3297 and $1704cm^{-1}$ band for silk fabric were due to N-H and C=O stretching, gardenia peaks at 1654 and $668cm^{-1}$ band representing C=O(ester), C=C(alken) and O-C=O(carboxylic acids) of crocin and sappanwood peaks at $1715cm^{-1}$ band representing C=O(cyclic keton) of brazilin appeared on the samples exposed for 14 days, but these peaks indicating colorants after 28 days of uv exposure faded away due to prolonged exposure of uv.

Natural Dyeing of Hanji with Alnus japonica Fruit Extractive (오리나무 열매 추출물을 이용한 한지의 천연염색)

  • We dyed traditional Korean hand-made papers (Hanji) with colorants extracted from fruits of Alnus japonica to investigate the effect of various dyeing factors (mordant, dye concentration and dyeing assistant) on colors, K/S values and light fastness of the dyed Hanji. The dyed hanji had brown color. The K/S value of dyed Hanji was increased by mordanting with alum and copper acetate. $a^*$ and $b^*$ value of dyed Hanji was decreased slightly by mordanting with alum and Iron(II) chloride. The K/S value and $b^*$ of dyed Hanji increased with increasing concentration of dye, but $L^*$ value of dyed Hanji decreased. The K/S value of dyed Hanji was also increased by fixing agent. When Hanji was mordanted with Iron(II) chloride and was not mordanted, use of fixing agent resulted in greater increase of K/S value. Use of fixing agent resulted in poor light fastness. When fixing agent was used, mordanting with copper acetate resulted in smaller color difference than mordanting with alum after aging test.

Natural Dyeing by extraction solution of Mulberry used for Food (식용오디 추출액을 이용한 천연염색)

  • 오디를 약제나 식용으로 사용되고 있는 염색재료를 이용한 천연염색은 화학염료의 잠재적인 인체독성이나 알르레기 유발 가능성을 간단하게 극복할 수 있는 대안 중의 하나이다. 따라서 약리 효과를 갖는 식물을 염색 재료로 이용하여 다양한 색상 뿐 아니라 피부와 인체에 유익한 약성을 발휘하는 천연염색이 최근 각광을 받고 있다. 한편 천연색소에 대한 관심이 높아짐에 따라 식품이나 화장품 등에 첨가하여 기능성을 높이고자 하는 연구도 진행중으로 오디에 함유된 anthocyanin 색소를 이용하기도 한다. 본 연구에서는 상주지역에서 생산하는 식용오디를 경기도 남양주에 위치한 아세아기공사에서 제작한 생즙추출기로 문경시 수평면에서 위치한 이젠하우스에서 추출한 오디생즙을 구입하여 염색의 재료로 사용하였다. 처리 섬유의 무게를 200g 으로 하여, 욕비 1:10 으로 하여 처리액을 2000g 고정하였다. 처리시에 오디추출액의 비율을 10%(200g+1800g), 20%(400g+1600g), 30%(600g+1400g), 40%(800g+1200g), 50%(1000g+1000g)으로 조정한 염색액에 면, 레이온, 견, 옥사를 처리온도, 처리농도를 달리하여 실험하였다. 처리온도를 $40^{\circ}C$, $60^{\circ}C$, $80^{\circ}C$ 로 하였으며, 처리시간은 1시간으로 동일하게 실험하였다. 처리후에 매염시간은 $60^{\circ}C$에서 1000g의 매염제로 철, 구리, 명반의 1% 용액에 10분간 처리하였다. 실험후 온도에 따른 염색의 정도와 처리농도, 매염제 처리전후의 염색성을 비교하기 위하여 색차값를 측정하였다.

Comparison of Halloysitum Rubrum before and after Physical and Chemical Manipulation (적석지(赤石脂)의 포제전후의 성분 비교연구)

  • Objectives : The study has been undertaken to scrutinize the results of Halloysitum Rubrum before and after physical and chemical manipulation. Methods : I used X-rays diffracted analysis system(Phillips X'Pert - MPD System) on condition of 40Kv, Anode of Cu Ka to grasp the compositions of crude Halloysitum Rubrums which have been from here and there after pulverization them below 200 mesh. X-rays fluorescence analysis system have been used to check the chief elements content of the ore on condition of 40Kv, 95mA. ICP-MS analysis system(Perkin Elmer, Elan 6100)have been used after a micro-elements and a heavy metals take advantage of mixed acid were dissolved completely. Results : The compositions of the ore Halloysitum Rubrum are composed of large amount of Halloysite and Kaolinite, and small amount of Hematite, Alum, quartzite. The chief elements content of the ore Halloysitum Rubrum are composed of Al and Si. A heavy metals in Halloysitum Rubrum are As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Zn, etc. As and Zn's amounts was lessen after physical and chemical manipulation Halloysitum Rubrum are decreased at $400^{\circ}C\;and\;450-500^{\circ}C$ each by heat analysis system. Conclusion : Results of this study show that Halloysitum Rubrum can be used in a diverse ways to treat many kinds of disease.

Dyeing of Hanji with Extract of Smoke Tree (Cotinus coggygria) (안개나무 추출물 염색 한지의 제조)

  • 안개나무 목질부의 열수추출물을 사용하여 한지를 염색하였다. 안개나무 목질부의 추출물을 동결건조하여 만든 염료 분말을 사용하여 제조한 0.0002%(wt) 농도의 염액은 198 nm에서 0.39의 흡광도를 278 nm 에서 0.10의 흡광도를 가지는 자외가시광선 흡수 피크를 나타내었으며 무매염으로도 한지에 염색이 잘 되었다. 염색된 한지는 황색 계열의 색을 나타내었으며, 명반 매염을 하면 $a^*$ 값과 $b^*$ 값이 동시에 증가하여 주황색을 띠는 것을 알 수 있고, 초산동 매염을 하면 $a^*$ 값이 증가하지만 $b^*$ 값이 감소하여 적색을 좀 더 많이 띠게 되었다. 염화철 매염을 하면 $b^*$ 값만 크게 감소하여 녹색계열의 색을 나타내었다. 닥섬유에 염색시 온도가 증가함에 따라서 염착량은 감소하는 경향을 보였고, 양이온화 섬유를 사용하면 염착량이 크게 향상되나, $a^*$값이 더 크게 증가하여 색상이 적황색으로 변하였다. 표면 전하밀도와 염착량은 정비례의 관계를 나타내었으며, 양이온화 정도가 높아질수록 제조한 색한지의 광견뢰도는 악화되었다.
