  • National medical bill is amounting 31 trillion, equivalent to about 8% of GDP. And Japanese poeple are beginning to doubt the western medical system that depends upon drugs and operations. They are seeking another method of treatment. It is well known the forest has many healthy and recreation benefit. Now I would like to talk about the benefits of forest therapy.

  • The ovine squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC)-specific and immunosuppressive properties of OSCC extracts were investigated by using the techniques of lymphocyte blastogenicity, acid dissociation-ultrafiltration and gradient polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. It was found that OSCC extracts contained two major and one minor protein peaks by Sephadex gel fractionation. Two major peaks bear substantial amount of immunoglobulins, antigen-antibody complex and OSCC-specific fractions, and the minor peak includes immunosuppressive materials. OSCC-specific components were detected at the molecular weights of 10,000 to 100,000 daltons in the major peaks and immunosuppressive materials at the fractions with the molecular weight of 10,000 to 100,000 and < 10,000 daltons in the minor peak. When the fractions were further separated by gradient polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, the OSCC-specific antigens were found in the slice number 4 to 6 in fraction III, and immunosuppressive materials, in the slice numbers 9 to II in fraction V. The present results were considered to provide a basis for preparation and purification of OSCC-specific and immunosuppressive materials from the crude OSCC extracts.

  • Alcoholics increased susceptibility to microbial infection that is associated with decreased immunity. but there has been little experimental evidence to support alcoholics-induced increase of microbial infection directly in non-specific immunity. Therefore, we were used the method of phagocytic-plaque including all the stimulating factors for the phagocytosis, subtypes of lymphocytes and T-lymphocyte proliferation. The experimental groups were divided into 3 groups: (1) alcoholics who were hospitalized less than 1 week (newly hospitalized alcoholics), (2) alcoholics who were hospitalized more than 2 weeks (old hospitalized alcoholics), (3) healthy blood donors. We have studied 98 alcoholics and 35 healthy blood donors and control groups. A physician has checked the biological markers and diagnosed the body-condition alcoholics. The immunity and non-specific immunity on the alcoholics were analyzed by using the simultest kit and flow cytometry. Proliferation of the lymphocytes was analyzed by the phytohemmagglutinine mitogen. Phagocytosis and migration properties of leukocytes were identified on the layer formed by Staphylococcus aureus Cowan I strain. Biological markers of alcoholics and control groups, by such as blood glucose, ${\gamma}$-glutamyl transpeptidase and mean corpuscular volumes of red blood cells, were determined by biochemical and hematological methods. Compared with control groups, cluster of differentiation (CD)3+, CD8+ and CD19+ in alcoholic were more decreased except CD4+/CD8+ ratio. Proliferation of the T-lymphocytes, phagocytosis and migration properties of the leukocytes in alcoholics were decreased compared with those of control groups. According to the results observed in our experiment, they can be summerized as follows: 1, Cellular, humoral and non-specific immunities, are markedly decreased in alcoholics than those in control groups. 2. It is inferred that Phagocytic plaque formation is a very useful method to evaluate phagocytosis and migration properties of the alcoholic leukocytes 3. It is thought that the subtypes of lymphocytes, especially CD4+/CD8+ ratio, are essential methods to analyzed the alcoholic immunity. 4. Specific and non-specific immunity on the old hospitalized alcoholics was slightly increased, which depends upon the alcoholic medication.

  • This study was done in order investigate the object and the method of animal experimental paper on immunity The results were obtained as follows: 1. Rat, mouse, kk mouse and rabbit were used for experimental paper singe or combine. 2. It was examined a way of bringing about a lowering of immunity used as MTX and other reagent, and it has caused many cases which lead to bring about a lowering of immunity by causing specified disease. 3. It was examined, according to items of my observation. there are mainly hemagglutinin titer, hemolysin titer, phagocytic activity, Rosette forming cells, delayed type hypersensitivity, IL-2 productivity and NK cell activity in survey. 4. Most used drugs and 경혈(aqupuncture paint) have the characters reinforcing a fair spirit and reinforcing an unfair spirit(a miasma or poisonous air). 5. It is necessary to a deep study of an experimental way about aqua-acupuncture on immunity in the future.

  • Streptococcus constellatus (S. constellatus) is a commensal microorganism belonging to the "Streptococcus milleri" group, but may cause infections in different locations in immunocompromised patients. The infection of S. constellatus has high mortality and morbidity due to its tendency to cause abscesses in infected patients, which require immediate surgical drainage for effective treatment. We report on a 72-year-old woman with end stage renal disease, who suffered from dyspnea and general weakness that had developed over 7 days. Chest CT showed loculated pleural effusion. S. constellatus was cultured from exudative pleural effusions and confirmed by an analysis of 16S rRNA sequence. The patient was treated with drainage of pleural effusion and piperacillin/tazobactam for 5 weeks.
