  • It is very difficult to export the fresh agricultural products to long distance countries such as USA and EU without any damage. Fresh products exporting would overcome very severe conditions such as hot and cold weather changes, heavy vibrations with rolling and pitching during the target distribution period, therefore, the packaging needs the immobility of products in the container and the keeping its quality by packaging materials or methods under any surrounding environments, especially. The physical strength of outer box should be designated according to its own characteristics for agricultural product packaging. Packaging dimension which would be fit to standard pallet is also very important factor to reduce the distribution cost. There have been many agricultural products researches for export packaging to the USA so far. However they have never got desirable results which enough to apply it in real. The main purpose of this research is to develop optimum compressive strength and optimum dimension of corrugated fiberboard box which would be used to USA export packaging of fresh melon as well as Japan.

  • 국내에서 멜론(Cucumis melo L.) 재배는 주로 온실이나 하우스 같은 시설에서 재배되고 있어 연중 생산되며, 생산량은 1991년에 4,414톤에서 1998년에는 13,232톤으로 꾸준히 증가 추세를 보이고 있다. 멜론은 착과(교배) 후 15-21일 경부터 네트가 형성되기 시작하여 30일경이 되면 네트 형성이 완료된다. 이때부터 수확시기인 착과 후 55일 경까지 멜론 숙도의 지표인 과육의 경도와 당도의 변화를 관찰하면서 당도가 충분히 오르고 과육이 어느 정도 물러졌을 때 수확해야만 후숙 후에도 먹기 좋은 상태가 된다.   • The change of biological activities of melon were investigated during frozen storage. The total phenolic concentrations in melon juice and water extract were 296.25 and $433.25\;{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. The total flavonoid contents in melon juice and water extract were 20.83 and $53.58\;{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. Antioxidant activities of melon juice and water extract were determined. The DPPH of water extract of melon (85.84%) was higher than the melon juice (60.58%). ABTS of melon juice and water extract were 94.50 and 99.30%, respectively. SOD-like activity and xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity of melon of water extracts were higher than those of melon juice. $\alpha$-Glucosidase inhibitory activity of melon juice and water extract were 22.42 and 23.43%, respectively. The changes in the antioxidant activity of melon was insignificant until 6 months of frozen storage. Therefore, it was expected that frozen storage of melon was useful preservation expedient for consistent supply of raw materials.

  • 멜론(Cucumis melo L. cv. Reticulatus)은 다른 과채류에 비해 재배기간이 짧고 수확 시 노동력이 덜 필요로 하는 작물로 고품질 멜론 생산 시 판로 및 가격이 높게 형성되어 농가소득 향상에 적합한 작물이다. 멜론의 국내 시장규모는 1,000억원 정도이며, 일본의 멜론 시장은 4조원으로 40배 정도 큰 시장을 형성하고 있으므로, 수출을 위한 고품질 재배기술 개발이 필요하다. 따라서, 본 연구는 충청북도농업기술원 시험연구포장에서 고온기 근권 환경 최적화를 위한 멀칭 방법을 구명하기 위해 수행하였다. 멜론은 얼스마운틴 PMR 품종을 4월 29일에 120 × 50 cm 로 정식하였으며, 멀칭 처리는 녹색비닐, 검정부직포, 종이멀칭지를 난괴법 3반복으로 각각 피복하였다. 멀칭자재별 생육특성 중 초장은 녹색비닐과 종이멀칭 피복처리에서 각각 148.1 cm, 144.8cm 로 우수하였으며, 엽폭 및 엽장은 유의성 있는 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 생체중은 종이멀칭지로 피복한 처리에서 716.7 g plant-1 로 가장 우수하게 나타났다. 과특성 중 과직경은 녹색비닐과 종이멀칭 피복처리에서 각각 16.1 cm로 우수하였으며, 과중은 종이멀칭지로 피복한 처리에서 2,235 g plant-1 로 가장 우수하게 나타났다. 이처럼 멀칭재료에 따른 생육특성 차이를 확인하였으며, 이러한 적정 멀칭자재 선발을 통해 여름철 고온기 근권 환경 최적화를 통한 멜론 수량 및 품질향상에 기여할 것으로 판단된다.

  • In order to protect agricultural products against damage by physical load, various shock absorbing materials is used. As the demands of environment protection increase, the use of plastic materials have been restricted. On the other hand, Pulp mold products have some benefits - easy manufacturing, superior shock absorbing and eco-friendly. In order to develop pulp mold tray for melon packaging as shock absorbing packaging material, we investigated physical properties and vibration transmission characters of 180, 200 and 220 g pulp mold tray for melon. As the weight of pulp increased, compression strength and shock absorbing performance increased, while vibration transmissibility decreased. Especially in case of 180g pulp mold tray, it is not suitable for melon packaging because the transmitted vibration acceleration was higher than the forced vibration acceleration. And 200g pulp mold tray is suitable for melon packaging because the vibration transmissibility was lowest in three trays. And the vibration acceleration transmitted to the melon in edge of pulp mold tray was higher than to the melon in center of pulp mold tray. As the result of the simulated transportation test, the firmness of melon packaging using pulp mold tray was higher than that of conventional packaging. Therefore, these results suggest that pulp mold tray packaging could be suitable for melon packaging.

  • These studies aimed to investigating the pathogenicity of Fusarium isolates from the wilted cucur bitaceous plants and the pathogenicity of 24 isolates to cucumber, oriental cantaloup, oriental pickling melon, sponge gourd. muskmelon and watermelon were as follows. 1) The isolates from wilted watermelon and melon severely and one of the isolates was slightly pathogenicon oriental pickling melon or oriental cantaloup. 2) The isolates from wilted cucumber were four types. some of the isolates were severely pathogenic on cucumber and infected oriental cantaloup. oriental pickling melon and melon. Some of the isolates were not pathogenic or slightly pathogenic on cucumber. but these were severely pathogenic on oriental pickling melon. One of the isolates was severely pathogenic on oriental cantaloup oriental pickling melon and melon, but no pathogenic on cucumber and one of the isolates was also severely pathogenic on oriental cantaloup. oriental pickling melon and melon and moderatly pathogenic' on water melon. 3) The isolates from wilted oriental cantaloup were four types some of the isolates infected oriental cantaloup, oriental pickling melon and melon severely and some of the isolates were pathogenic on oriental cantaloup. oriental pickling melon. melon and watermelon. One of the isolates, was slightly pathogenic on oriental pickling melon and melon but one of the isolates was highly pathogenic on melon and infected watermelon slightly. 4) Wilt Fusarium of the cucurbitaceous plants could divide into the group of wilt Fusarium of watermelon, cucumber and muskmelon according to the pathogenicity but it will have to rearrange to one form species from several form species of wilt Fusarium of the cucurbitaceous plants and ought to divide to races according to pathogenicity on severely fixed differential varieties which selected from the cucurbitaceous plants. because of the degree of pathognicity and host range are not surely fixed between isolates of wilt Fusarium of the cucurbitaceous plants tested.
