A Study on the Evaluation Methods of Research Institution: Based on the h-index and its Variants (기관단위 연구성과 평가방법에 관한 연구: h-지수 및 변형지수를 중심으로)

  • The h-index is a new tool for measuring research outputs based on citation and many variants of h-index have been proposed to improve the weaknesses of h-index. The h-index and its variants can be applied to institutional evaluation in three different ways. We worked out 447 practical cases of professors from 10 business schools and examined h-index and its variants. And then we compared three evaluation methods of research institution based on the h-index and its variants.

  • This study is a meta-analysis of the articles published over the last 18 years from the first edition of the "International Commerce and Information Review" to December 2016. 1047 papers were published in "International Commerce and Information Review" until 2016. Many articles appeared in the order of electronic trade field, product and service innovation field, regional trade information field, trade law system field, and trade negotiation field. There are more than 15 major fields of authors who have published more than 20 papers."International Commerce and Information Review" is a multi-disciplinary journal by scholars in various major fields. Most of the authors belong to universities and the proportion of papers that receive research grants is 19.7%. 46 authors have published more than 5 papers in "International Commerce and Information Review", and their H-index is 5.6. Influence Index (IF) of the "International Commerce and Information Review" in 2016 is 1.02. The main keywords of the papers published in "International Commerce and Information Review" are e-commerce, Internet, service trade, China, e-trade, Korean Wave, FTA, SME and foreign direct investment.

Variation of Grain Quality of Rice Varieties Grown at Different Locations II. Relationship between Characteristics Related to Grain Quality (벼품종의 재배지역에 따른 미질특성변이 II. 미질관련형질 상호간의 관계)

  • Six commercial rice varieties were cultivated at different locations in 1987 and 1988. Rice samples harvested from 8 to 20 locations for a variety each year were used to measure or observe grain appearance, amylose content and alkali digestibility, cooked rice texture using rheometer, gelatinization and viscosity of rice flour using amylograph, and eating Quality of cooked rice by sensory evaluation. Relationship between Quality characteristics showing large locational variation were analized to approach the long-term objective, rice grain Quality standardization. Percent white-center and white-belly grain of the same variety showed great variation between locations, but did not affect on 1000-grain weight, amylose content and alkali digestibility, amylogram and rheogram characteristics, and eating Quality of cooked rice. Positive correlationship were obtained between maximum viscosity and break down, and maximum viscosity and alkali digestibility. Set back was correlated negatively with maximum viscosity, break down and alkali digestibility. Rice samples having significantly lower values of maximum viscosity and break down and higher set back value at the same time showed higher ADV and lower texture palatability index (TPI) and viscousness/hardness ratio (Vi/H), and lower sensory evaluation score of cooked rice compared with those of rices having typically higher values of maximum viscosity and break down and lower set back value. When TPI, Vi/H and overall sensory eating score of cooked rices measured were divided into three categories, high, medium and low using deviation from locational mean value of a variety, many of rice samples having high TPI or high Vi/H showed medium or high in overall sensory eating score of cooked rice.

Antioxidant Activities of Chrysanthemum coronarium L. Fractions on the Liposomal Phospholipid Membrane (인지질막 liposome에 미치는 쑥갓 분획물의 항산화 효과)

  • This experiment was designed to investigate the antioxidant effects of Chrysanthemum coronarium L. (CC) fractions on the liposomal phospholipid membranes. The sample CC was extracted and fractionated into five different types, methanol (CCMM), hexane (CCMH), ethylacetate (CCMEA), butanol (CCMB), and aqueous (CCMA) fractions. The antioxidant activities of CC fractions in oxidized dilinoleoylphosphatidylcholine (DLPC) liposomes were examined by spectrophotometry measuring conjugated dienes. The oxidation indices of five CC fractions exhibited weaker antioxidant activities than that of BHT in oxidized DLPC liposomes, however, showing much similar antioxidant activities of $\alpha$-tocopherol in the oxidized DLPC liposomes, which is known as a potent antioxidant. Among CC fractions, CCMM and CCMA in oxidized DLPC liposomes showed rather effective than $\alpha$-tocopherol after 2 h. These results strongly indicate that bioactive substances in CC fractions have a kind of function as potent antioxidants against biomembrane oxidation.

Cumulative Deposition of $^{137}Cs$ in the Soil of Korea (한국토양에 존재하는 $^{137}Cs$ 방사능 분포)

  • The cumulative deposition of $^{137}Cs$ in the soil of Korea has been studied. Using ${\gamma$-ray spertrometry, the conrentrations of $^{137}Cs$ were determined for the soil samples collected to a depth of 20 cm. The average accumulated depositions of $^{137}Cs$ were estimated roughly to be 2,501 ${\pm}$ $m^{-2}$ in the forest and 1,058 ${\pm}$ 322 Bq $m^{-2}$ in the hill. The inventory value of $^{137}Cs$ in the forest is about two times higher than that in the hill. Except for some cases, the concentrations of $^{137}Cs$ in the undisturbed soils decreased exponentially with increasing the soil depth. The influences of rainfall, organic matter content, clay content and pH on the deposition of $^{137}Cs$ were studied using the field method. Among these factors, the organic matter content played the most important role in the retention and relative mobility of $^{137}Cs$ in the soil. The other factors such as rainfall, clay content and pH showed weak correlation with the deposition of $^{137}Cs$ in the soil.

Studies on Color and Rheological Properties in Strawberry Jam (딸기쨈의 색깔과 물성에 관한 연구)

  • In order to observe the strawberry as the raw materials and to compare the color of strawberry's products, Hunter L,a,b tristimulate color values were measured physically by color difference meter. Food textural properties of strawberry were measured by Rheo textural meter for rheological properties of strawberry jam. According to results obtained, it showed that Hunter L,a,b tristimulus color values were affected by ripening time of strawberry and Hunter color values changed regularly on different pH. Deformation of red color pigment Hunter color values changed linearlly on different pH, therefore red color pigment of elderberry showed to be used as a food color agent. The first peak of strawberry in TPA curve was high as cherry, grape and pineapple Strawberry jam showed pseudoplastic characteristic and time dependence.

Crystal structural property and chemical bonding nature of cellulose nanocrystal formed by high-pressure homogenizer (고압 균질기를 이용하여 형성된 셀룰로오스 나노결정의 결정 구조 및 화학적 결합 특성 연구)

  • We investigated the crystal structural property and chemical bonding nature of cellulose nanocrystal extracted directly from cotton cellulose using high-pressure homogenizer. The nanowire-like cellulose nanocrystals were randomly distributed in the form of a dense mesh. Based on calculating the interplanar distance of the Bragg-diffracted crystal plane observed through X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, it was found that the cellulose nanocrystals formed by high-pressure homogenizer had a monoclinc crystal structure, corresponding to the cellulose Iβ sub-polymorph. Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analysis for the quantitatively evaluation of the amorphous region in cellulose nanocrystals revealed that the crystallinity index of cellulose nanocrystals was calculated to be 53.06 %. The O/C ratio of the surface of cellulose nanocrystal was estimated to be 0.82. Further analysis showed that chemical bonds of C-C bond or C-H bond, C-O bond, O-C-O bond or C=O bond, and O-C=O bond were the main chemical bonding states of the cellulose nanocrystal surface.
