메조페이스/등방성핏치의 방사성판단을 위한 점탄성 거동

  • 나프탈렌으로부터 제조된 메조페이스 핏치(NMP)와 개질된 등방성 콜타르 핏치(MCP)의 방사성을 유변학적거동에 기초해 설명하고자 시도되었다. 기본적으로, 방사성은 l/4, l/l, 4/1(wt. NMP/wt. MCP)로 블렌드비를 달리 하면서 shear rate를 증가시켰을 때 등방성의 농도가 클 경우 급격한 점도 감소로 cohesive fracture의 원인이 됨을 관찰할 수 있었고 NMP가 증가할수록 탄성에너지 값이 전형적인 고분자의 거동처럼 응답하는 tan $\delta$값의 임계점이 고주파수영역으로 이전되어 최대값을 나타내었고 임계점보다 낮은영역에서 상대적인 크기는 NMP가 증가함에 따라 작아지는 현상을 관찰할 수 있었다.(중략)

Fabrication of Double-layered Carbon Materials for Li-ion Battery (리튬이온 2차 전지용 이중층 탄소재료의 제조)

  • 이중층 탄소재료가 콜타르핏치와 메조페이스 핏치, 인조흑연, 천연흑연과 코크스를 사용하여 제조되었다. 콜타르 핏치는 톨루엔이나 경유와 같은 유기용매에 용해되어 코팅재로 사용되었다. 메조페이스 핏치, 인조흑연, 천연흑연 및 코크에 대한 콜타르 핏치의 코팅은 X선 회절분석과 CHN 분석을 통해 확인하였다. 코팅된 탄소재료를 질소분위기의 800-100$0^{\circ}C$에서 열처리한 후 리튬이온 전지의 음극으로 사용하기 위하여 2$600^{\circ}C$에서 열처리하였다. 이중층 탄소재료의 성능평가는 동전형태의 반쪽전지를 통해 수행되었는데, 평가는 음극으로서의 충전과 방전을 통해 수행되었다. 이런 충.방전 능력은 탄소재료의 열처리 온도의 변화나 전구체의 종류에 따라 달리 나타났지만 코팅방법의 차이에 의해서는 큰 차이가 없었다. 열처리를 80$0^{\circ}C$에서 한 경우가 100$0^{\circ}C$에서 한 경우보다 높은 충.방전 능력을 나타내었고, 2$600^{\circ}C$에서 흑연화된 것보다 탄화된 재료들이 높은 충.방전 능력을 나타내었다. 결론적으로, 음극재료의 성능은 결정화도, 조성 및 탄소재료의 미세구조에 따라 달라짐을 알 수 있었다.

Fabrication and Characteristics of Mesophase Pitch-Based Graphite Foams Prepared Using PVA-AAc Solution (PVA-AAc 용액을 사용한 메조페이스 핏치기반 그라파이트 폼의 제조 및 특성)

  • Graphite foams (GFs) were prepared by adding different amounts of mesophase pitch (MP) into polyvinyl alcohol-acrylic acid (PVA-AAc) solution followed by the heat treatment. It was confirmed that the pore diameters of GFs were controlled by the slurry concentration, which was the mesophase content added in polymer solution, and their thermal conductivity and compressive strength were also controlled by porosities of GFs formed at different conditions. The resulting GFs in this study had the highest thermal conductivity of $53.414{\pm}0.002W/mK$ and compressive strength of $1.348{\pm}0.864MPa$ at 0.69 in porosity. The thermal conductivity of MP based GFs increased approximately 23 times higher than that of using isotropic pitch based GFs due to the developed graphitic structure.

Physical-Chemical Properties of Graphite Foams Produced with Fluorinated Mesophase Pitch (불소화 메조페이스 핏치로 제조된 그라파이트 폼의 물리/화학적 특성)

  • In order to improve the compressive strength of graphite foams (GFms), mesophase pitch (MP) was stabilized in air atmosphere and then fluorinated at different conditions. The Fluorine/Carbon (F/C) in surface-chemical contents of fluorinated MP has range of 23.75%~61.48% according to the different fluorine partial pressure. The compressive strengths of GFms prepared from fluorinated MP were increased in proportion to the apparent densities. The compressive strength of the GFm produced from MP with 35.93% of F/C (%) showed maximum value in $2.93{\pm}0.06MPa$, which was increased up to 27.95% than that of the GFm prepared from un-fluorinated MP. This result was attributed that the interface bonding between of MPs due to fluorine functional groups with high surface energy helped to improve compressive strength of the GFm.

  • To prepare mesophase pitches through low energy process, pyrolysis fuel oil with $AlCl_3$ has been modified using two-step heat treatment which is heat-treated at $330^{\circ}C$ for 3~5 h after pre-treatment at $250^{\circ}C$. The result of polarized optical microscope observation, mesophase is not observed in pitches carried out only pre-heat treatment. While mesophase content is significantly increased from 9% to 100% according to increasing secondary heat treatment time from 3 h to 5 h. Synthesizing of the mesophase pitch at low temperature of $330^{\circ}C$ is attributed to decrease of viscosity of the pitches carried out first heat treatment with $AlCl_3$. The result of Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopic analysis, it is expected that aromatization of aliphatic compounds is dominant at early secondary heat treatment, on the other hand, polycondensation reaction becomes dominant as secondary heat treatment time increases. Aromaticity and stacking height of the pitches secondary heat treated for 5 hours are more increased about 25% and 107%, respectively, than that of pitches carried out only first heat treatment.

  • By heat treating coal tar pitch between 450∼500$^{\circ}C$, mesophase pitch could be obtained. Subsequently, this pitch was oxi-stabilized between 160∼240$^{\circ}C$ in air for the purpose of reducing swelling and distortion. The mechanism of stabilization was analysed using the thermo-gravity and FT-IR. To investigate the effect of oxi-stabilization, the shore hardness and bending stress were measured with carbonized green body which was made from oxi-stabilized coal tar pitch.

  • Pore-size controlled porous carbons for the catalyst supports of the direct methanol fuel cell were prepared from the mesophase pitch by using the silica spheres with different sizes. Pitch solution in THF and spheres were mixed, carbonized and etched by 5 M NaOH to make porous carbon. Specific surface area of the porous carbons was $14.7{\sim}87.7m^2/g$ and average pore diameter was 50~550 nm which were dependent on the size of silica spheres. Aqueous reduction method was used to load 60 wt% PtRu on the prepared porous carbon supports. The electro-oxidation activity of the supported 60 wt% Pt-Ru catalysts was measured by cyclic voltammetry and unit cell test. For the 60 wt% Pt-Ru/porous carbon synthesized by 50 nm silica, current density value in the cyclic voltammetry test was $123mA/cm^2$ at 0.4 V and peak power density in the unit cell test were 105 and $162mW/cm^2$ under oxygen at 60 and $80^{\circ}C$, respectively.

The Preparation and Property of Carbon Foams from Carbon Black Embedded Pitch Using PU Template (카본블랙이 내첨된 핏치로부터 폴리우레탄 조공제를 이용한 탄소 폼의 제조 및 특성)

  • To improve mechanical strength of carbon foams, the carbon black (CB) added carbon foams were fabricated by impregnating different contents of carbon black (CB) and mesophase pitch using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution into polyurethane foam and being followed by heat treatment. The cell wall-thicknesses of carbon foams were controlled by adding amounts of CB, and it was confirmed that the compressive strength of carbon foams was increased as increasing cell wall-thickness. The compressive strength had the highest value of $0.22{\pm}0.05MPa$ with the highest bulk density of $0.44g/cm^3$ when adding 5 wt% CB in carbon foam. However, the thermal conductivity was decreased by adding CB in carbon foam. The results indicated that the thermal conductivities of carbon foams were reduced by increased interlayer spacing ($d_{002}$) with the addition of CB in carbon foams.
