  • Mobile messenger services (MMSs), such as Kakaotalk, Wetalk, Line, and Whatsapp, are gaining popularity worldwide because of communicating with other people without any cost. We examined key antecedents of user loyalty to understand user's decision-making process in the MMS environment. To capture a long-term relationship with service providers, we posit relational commitment and user satisfaction as key predictors of user loyalty. Moreover, the effects of perceived usefulness, perceived enjoyment, and corporate image on user's decision-making processes were examined. The proposed model was tested by applying partial least squares to data from 220 experienced Kakaotalk users. The findings of this study found that both relational commitment and user satisfaction play an important role in enhancing user loyalty in the MMS context. The analysis results indicate that corporate image influences relational commitment and user loyalty through user satisfaction. The analysis results help MMS providers establish management or marketing strategies to effectively improve user loyalty.

The applied model in this study is based on Oliver's four-stage loyalty model for the formation processes of user loyalty about MMS. While social network formation and service quality are the key elements of cognitive loyalty, positive mood and negative mood are the key components of affective loyalty in the study. Conative loyalty is captured by commitment. The data of 249 KakaoTalk users at least five times for three months is empirically tested based on the research model using partial least squares. The analysis of test identifies that positive feeling and commitment significantly influences behavioral loyalty, whereas negative feeling plays a significant role in inhibiting behavioral loyalty. The findings of this study show that social network formation and service quality significantly affect only positive feeling. • Nowadays, team members often use mobile messenger service (MMS) in performing team projects. Team members can freely express their ideas or opinions using MMS without any restrictions in terms of place and time. But, in team project, using MMS is pressing them to perform their project more quickly than off-line conference, and assigning a role outside the range of their ability. In other words, team members can recognize work overload by utilizing MMS and this work overload can lead to team conflict. This study examines the effect of work overload through MMS use on team performance. We consider team engagement and team trust as the key drivers of team performance. However, team conflict will obstruct team engagement and team trust. Research model was analyzed by 135 university students who were doing several team projects. Although the graphic emoticons in MIM are regarded as a commercial product, there has been little systematic research reflecting consumers' perspectives. In order to fill this theoretical and practice gap, the study is designed to explore the structural relationships among emoticon use motives, attitude, and purchasing intention to emoticons in context of MIM. The results showed that emoticon use motives in MIM were composed of two main factors, perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment.
