RealBook based on the interface of Tabletop display (테이블탑 디스플레이 기반 RealBook)

  • 본 논문에서는 테이블탑 디스플레이을 기반으로한 RealBook에 대하여 제안한다. 전자책은 일반 종이책이 아닌 컴퓨터를 이용한 가상의 책으로써 사용자가 독서를 하는 도중 동영상 자료를 보거나 배경음악을 들을 수 있게 해주는 멀티미디어 콘텐츠이다. 또한, 테이블탑 디스플레이 플랫폼에서 사용하므로 손의 직접적인 터치를 이용하여 전자책과 사용자 간의 좀 더 다양한 상호작용이 가능하도록 한다. 테이블탑 디스플레이에서는 손가락의 터치 점을 이용하여 다양한 제스처를 정의할 수 있어서, 사용자가 기존 입력 장치에 비해 보다 효과적으로 전자책을 체험하는 것을 돕는다. 본 논문에서는 제안하는 방법은 기존 전자책과 차별화된 상호작용 디지털와 아날로그를 결함한 책(Real book)으로써 전자책에 대한 새로운 방향을 제시할 수 있고, 미디어 아트와 스토리텔링 기법을 접목시켜 사용자에게 정보 전달뿐만 아니라 예술과 오락 등을 제공할 수 있다. 앞으로 컴퓨터와 사용자간의 상호작용을 원활하게 할 수 있어 다양한 어플리케이션 개발에 활용될 수 있고 향후 미래 지향적 시스템이 될 것이다.

ButtonKeyboard: A Button-shaped Keyboard Supporting Text entry for Wearable Devices (버튼 키보드: 웨어러블 기기에서 문자입력을 지원하는 단추형 키보드)

  • 웨어러블 컴퓨팅 환경에서 문자입력은 필수적인 태스크이나 적절한 유저 인터페이스를 지원하기란 쉽지 않다. 탁상용 QWERTY 키보드를 소형화하여 상용화한 제품도 있지만 일상에서 사용하기에는 상당히 부담스러운 크기이다. 본 연구는 단추와 유사한 크기로 부담 없이 의복에 부착할 수 있으며 적정 수준으로 문자입력 태스크를 지원할 수 있는 버튼 키보드를 제안한다. 버튼키보드는 기존 전화키패드의 $3{\times}3$ 키 배열을 단일 키 패드로 통합하였다. 이는 내구성 있고 간결한 폼팩터를 가능하게 하며 입력장치의 소형화와 문자입력효율의 향상을 가능하게 한다. 버튼키보드는 일반 키보드용 키에 터치센서와 LED 배열을 합성하여 구현하였다. 따라서 손가락의 위치에 따라 이격, 터치, 누름등의 상태를 구분할 수 있어 멀티탭핑방식에서 발생하는 입력분절문제를 해결하였으며 와이핑 모션에 의한 특수문자와 명령 입력을 가능하게 하였다. 프로토타입을 통해 문자입력수행도 테스트 결과 20세션 학습후 한손입력에 대해 평균 14.7WPM, 두손입력에 대해 평균 14.5WPM의 입력속도를 얻었다. 20세션 평균 에러율은 6%를 기록했으며 최고속도는 두손입력시 17WPM으로 나타났다. 실험결과를 통해 본 연구에서 제안한 버튼키보드가 기기를 극적으로 소형화하였음에도 불구하고 문자입력을 적정수준으로 수행할 수 있는 가능성을 가진 문자입력장치임을 확인할 수 있었다. 차후 프로토타입의 개선을 통하여 기기가 더욱 소형화될 수 있으며 문자입력수행도 또한 향상될 여지가 있다.

  • 반도체 기술의 비약적 발전에 힘입어 현재의 개인용 컴퓨터는 고성능 CPU를 탑재하고 1990대의 텍스트 기반의 운영체제에서 벗어나 그래픽 기반의 운영체제에서 다양한 멀티미디어 기능을 제공 한다. 이를 위한 입력장치로 텍스트 기반 운영체제에서 주로 사용된 키보드뿐 아니라 마우스, 카메라, 터치스크린 등의 다양한 장치들이 사용되고 있다. 그러나 빔 프로젝터를 이용한 프레젠테이션의 경우 아직도 레이저포인터를 이용한 발표가 일반적이며 발표자와 빔 프로젝트용 PC와의 인터랙션이 없기 때문에 다양한 멀티미디어 기능 구현이 제한적이다. 본 논문에서는 USB 웹 카메라를 이용하여 프로젝터 화면을 촬영한 후 영상처리 라이브러리인 OpenCV를 기반으로 레이저 포인터의 위치와 동작을 검출하여 원거리에서도 사용자가 레이저 포인터를 이용하여 마우스 동작을 재현할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하고자 한다. 이를 활용하면 레이저 포인터를 사용하여 발표자가 별도의 입력장치 없이 PC와의 인터랙션이 가능해져서 다양한 멀티미디어 기반의 프레젠테이션이 가능해진다.

Characteristics of Flexible Transparent Capacitive Pressure Sensor Using Silver Nanowire/PEDOT:PSS Hybrid Film (은나노와이어·전도성고분자 하이브리드 필름을 이용한 유연 투명 정전용량형 압력 센서의 특성)

  • In this paper, we developed a flexible transparent capacitive pressure sensor which can recognize X and Y coordinates and the size of force simultaneously by sensing a change in electrical capacitance. The flexible transparent capacitive pressure sensor was composed of 3 layers which were top electrode, pressure sensing layer, and bottom electrode. Silver nanowire(Ag NW)/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) hybrid film was used for top and bottom flexible transparent electrode. The fabricated capacitive pressure sensor had a total size of 5 inch, and was composed of 11 driving line and 19 sensing line channels. The electrical, optical properties of the Ag NW/PEDOT:PSS and capacitive pressure sensor were investigated respectively. The mechanical flexibility was also investigated by bending tests. Ag NW/PEDOT:PSS exhibited the sheet resistance of $44.1{\Omega}/square$, transmittance of 91.1%, and haze of 1.35%. Notably, the Ag NW/PEDOT:PSS hybrid electrode had a constant resistance change within a bending radius of 3 mm. The bending fatigue tests showed that the Ag NW/PEDOT:PSS could withstand 200,000 bending cycles which indicated the superior flexibility and durability of the hybrid electrode. The flexible transparent capacitive pressure sensor showed the transmittance of 84.1%, and haze of 3.56%. When the capacitive pressure sensor was pressed with the multiple 2 mm-diameter tips, it can well detect the force depending on the applied pressure. This indicated that the capacitive pressure sensor is a promising scheme for next generation flexible transparent touch screens which can provide multi-tasking capabilities through simultaneous multi-touch and multi-force sensing.

  • Three-dimensional (3D) object retrieval from user-drawn sketch queries is one of the important research issues in the areas of pattern recognition and computer graphics for simulation, visualization, and Computer Aided Design. The performance of content-based 3D object retrieval system depends on the availability of effective descriptors and similarity measures for this kind of data. In this paper, we present a sketch-based 3D object retrieval system by extracting a hybrid edge descriptor which is robust against rotation and translation. The experimental results which are based on HTML5 and WebGL show that proposed sketch-based 3D object retrieval method is very efficient to search and order the 3D objects according to user's intention.

  • It is important subject of research in engineering and natural science field that creating continuing high-definition image from very large volume data. The necessity of software that helps analyze useful information in data has improved by effectively showing visual image information of high resolution data with visualization technique. In this paper, we designed multi-platform visualization system based on client-server to analyze and express earth environment data effectively constructed with observation and prediction. The visualization server comprised of cluster transfers data to clients through parallel/distributed computing, and the client is developed to be operated in various platform and visualize data. In addition, we aim user-friendly program through multi-touch, sensor and have made realistic simulation image with image-based lighting technique.

  • The displays and the interactive interfaces are important factors to enhance immersion in the VR experience pavilion. In the VR experience pavilion displaying 3D Virtual environment, it is difficult to have multi-display with single viewpoint because of the field of view. Also it costs a lot to construct a large size display. The interaction device between user and VR environment necessary to immersion has used mainly the touchscreens with the restricted display area or the button-based input devices so far. In this paper, we suggest a method for constructing extensible multi-display which are showing VR environment in realtime and a method for interaction using a ZA Sensor which is wireless and guarantees the user's unrestricted movement. The proposed method can make a VR experience pavilion more immersive at less cost.

A Study on Continuity of User Experience in Multi-device Environment (멀티 디바이스 환경에서 사용자 경험의 연속성에 관한 고찰)

  • This study examined the factors that can enhance the continuity of user experience in multi - device environment. First of all, regarding the structural difference and continuity of tasks, functional differences such as OS difference according to the characteristics of cross media, use of mouse and touch gesture were found to interfere with continuity. To increase continuity, metaphor and ambience To increase relevance and visibility. In the continuity part of visual memory and cognition, familiarity was given by the identity and similarity of visual perception elements, and it was found that familiarity factors are closely related to continuity. Finally, for the continuity of the user experience, we can see that the visibility factors as well as the meaning and layout consistency of the information are factors for the continuity of the user experience. Based on this, it was found that familiarity, consistency, and correlation were significant influences on continuity dimension of user experience, but visibility did not have a significant effect on continuity when regression analysis was conducted as factors of familiarity, consistency, correlation and visibility.

  • In this paper, we introduce a novel scene graph library for mobile platforms, called the 'Mobile OpenSceneGraph (Mobile OSG)', as a mobile graphics middleware. Our mobile scene graph library supports several nice properties, including platform-independence, extensibility, touch-based UI supports, and compatibility, by carefully adapting the OpenSceneGraph library, one of the most widely used graphics middlewares for desktop platforms, to mobile platforms. We validate the usefulness of the proposed library for mobiles with the several experimental results including real-time rendering, camera manipulations with a touch-based UI, and animations with switching geometric nodes.

  • This paper presents a multiple sensor system for rapid and high-precision coordinate data acquisition in the OMM (On-machine measurement) process. In this research, three sensors (touch probe, laser, and vision sensor) are integrated to obtain more accurate measuring results. The touch-type probe has high accuracy, but is time-consuming. Vision sensor can acquire many point data rapidly over a spatial range but its accuracy is less than other sensors. Also, it is not possible to acquire data for invisible areas. Laser sensor has medium accuracy and measuring speed among the sensors, and can acquire data for sharp or rounded edge and the features with very small holes and/or grooves. However, it has range- constraints to use because of its system structure. In this research, a new optimum sensor integration method for OMM is proposed by integrating the multiple-sensor to accomplish mote effective inspection planning. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulation and experimental works are performed, and the results are analyzed.
