  • Due to underutilization of spectrum under the current static spectrum management policy, various kinds of dynamic spectrum access strategies have appeared. Myopic policy is a simple policy with reduced complexity that maximizes the immediate throughput. In this paper, the distribution of its medium access delay is evaluated under saturation traffic conditions. Using the distribution of the medium access delay, we also evaluate its system delay under non-saturated traffic conditions.

  • This paper derives medium access delay of each AC(Access Category) in a stationary station using inter-departure time of IEEE 802.11e WLAN(Wireless LAN). Inter-departure time of IEEE 802.11e WLAN is obtained using saturation throughput of IEEE 802.11e WLAN which was the topic of our prior work. By using a simple queueing model, we evaluate mean queue length and mean delay for each AC on stationary condition. We calculate performance of each AC using this simple model and validate results using simulation.

  • In this paper, we proposed an efficient medium access protocol to share single transmission medium for several stations. There are two well known types of medium access protocols: collision allowance and collision avoidance, and each of them is adopted to their own suitable network with advantage. Our proposed protocol have channel reservation facility based on collision allow medium access protocol, CSMA/CD. In a collision, the stations delay collision with generating pseudo collision signal to reserve channel. Then, the collision terminates and the stations, which reserve channel successfully, participate the next competition with higher medium access probability. We show that the proposed protocol reduced collision times and improved utilization of the channel.

  • A Block-Time-Bounded Time Division Multiple Access (BTB-TDMA) medium access control protocol, which estimates the propagation delay of nodes according to their location and moving velocity information, has been proposed for underwater acoustic networks. BTB-TDMA provides nodes with their transmission schedules by a time block that is a time unit, newly designed for BTB-TDMA. In this paper, we investigate how the receiver collision, that is induced by the asymmetry between node's uplink and downlink propagation delay due to its mobility, affects the performance of BTB-TDMA. To do this, we analytically obtain the collision rate, the channel access delay, and the channel utilization by considering the asymmetry of propagation delay. Then, simulations are extensively performed with respect to the length of a time block by varying the number of nodes, the network range, and the node's velocity. Thus, the simulation results can suggest performance criteria to determine the optimal length of a time block which minimizes the collision rate and concurrently maximizes the channel access delay and the channel utilization.

  • In this paper, we studied on MAC(Media Access Control) protocol for UAVs application. According to the number of UAVs, ground control station should control properly increased UAVs. So, we applied CSMA/CA that used in current civil aircraft to UAV communications and verified the applicability through comparison of throughput and delays of data with various message sizes, In the results, we confirmed applicability for UAVs MAC protocol.

  • In this paper, proposed method achieves delay reduction and throughput improvement by utilizing token-ring method in infrastructure network. Access Point gives token passing effect by successively transmitting ACK frame including a node's Association ID. Not only can this method considerably reduce time for medium access, but also improve throughput. Furthermore, AP offers more frequent medium access opportunity to node having highest data queue among nodes associated by AP. these method can evenly offer medium access opportunity according to Queue's volumes.

  • In this paper, CSMA/CA with bridging is analyzed which is an added function of relaying directly between access points when wireless terminals can not communicate each other, and is also compared to the CSMA/CA without bridging which is IEEE 802.11 MAC standard. Through simulations, it is shown that the two methods have the similar performance in terms of the throughput but the bridging CSMA/CA improves the delay compared to the non-bridging CSMA/CA.

  • In this paper, we presented the dynamic random access channel allocation method under the priority based scheduling policy in order to improve the system performance of HIPERLAN/2 standardized by ETSI According to the scheduling policy, AP scheduler primarily allocates the resource to the collision MT This scheduling policy bring about decreasing the transmission delay of collision MT Dynamic RCH(random access channel) allocation method decreases the collision probability by increasing the number of RCH slots in case of low traffic. While it increases the maximum throughput by increasing the number of the data transmission slots in case of high traffic Therefore dynamic allocation method of RCH slots decreases the scheduling delay and increases the throughput When we evaluate the performance of presented method based on standards, we saw that the presented method improve the performance of the MAC protocol in terms of throughput and transmission delay.
