Welding Characteristics of SCP1 on CW Nd:Yag Laser (CW Nd:YAG 레이저에 의한 SCP1의 용접특성)

  • Laser welding of metals has been widely used to improve a wear resistance and a corrosion resistance of the industrial parts. The objective of this research works is to investigate the influence of the process parameters, such as the welding for metals with CW Nd:YAG lasers. The bead-on-plate welding tests are carried out for several combinations of the experimental conditions. In order to quantitatively examine the characteristics of the butt welding, the welding quality of the cut section, stain-stress behavior and the hardness of the welded part are investigated. From the results of the investigation, it has been shown that the optimal welding condition without defects in the vicinity of the welded area and with a good welding quality is 1325W of the laser power, and 1.4m/min of laser welding speed.

  • 세계적으로 환경문제에 대한 관심이 커짐에 따라 연료 효율 향상과 매연을 줄이기 위해 차량 경량화 요구가 증가하는 동시에 안전 규제가 강화되고 있어 높은 강도를 가지는 소재의 적용이 증가하고 있다. 충돌 시 차량 구조를 유지시켜주는 범퍼나 B-필러와 같은 부품에 1500MPa급의 초고강도강이 적용되고 있으며 레이저 용접이 가지는 장점이 많이 알려지면서 그 사용이 증가하는 추세이다. 따라서 레이저 용접에 의한 초고강도강의 용접 특성에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 1500MPa급 초고강도강의 레이저 맞대기 용접을 실시하여 단면, 경도 측정, 인장시험을 통해 용접부 특성을 파악하였다. 파이버 레이저와 디스크 레이저를 사용하여 각각의 레이저빔 직경 변화에 따른 입열량 변화에 따라 용접성에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보았다.

A Study on the Residual Stresses by the Hole Drilling Measuring in the WeldZone (용접부의 천공 측정법에 의한 잔류 응력에 관한 연구)

  • A knowloedge of the residual stress distribution at circumferential welds can increase the prediction accuracy of a fracture assessment in pipe lines. In this study, in order to predict the residual stress distribution in the circumferential butt-welded pipes were measured, using the hole-drilling strain gauge method. Their practical applications were performed in to two kinds of pipes. As the results, the following characteristics were found. On the inner surface of pipes, the circumferential and axial residual stresses were both tensile near the center line of welding and both of them changed from tensile to compressive as the distance from the center line increased. On the outer surface, however, the circumferential residual stress was shown to be tensile wile the axial residual stress was compressive near the center line of welding, and later they were revered at the region far away from the centerline.

  • The purpose of this paper is to propose a mathematical model of welding current for the P-GMAW by modifying the well known GMAW model. Welding power circuit is simply modeled as a RL electric circuit and solved as an ODE equation. The welding current depends on the joint shape, molten pool and welding parameters. To compare the molten pool effect to the welding current, CFD numerical simulation technique was adopted. Welding experiment is also conducted with the same welding parameters as used in numerical simulations to verify the proposed welding current model. The current model which is considered molten pool shape, is more fit to experiment result.

  • ESPI는 물체 표면의 광학적 거치기에 의해 집속성이 우수한 Laser 광원이 물체 표면에 조사되면 미세하고 랜덤한 반점들로 관측된다. 이들은 밝고 어두운 반점 형태로 관측 위치나 렌즈와 상관없이 관측된다. ESPI법은 스트레인게이지, 홀로그래피 및 모아래 기법과는 달리 비접촉, 실시간, Whole-field, 레이저 파장 단위까지 측정이 가능하여 기존의 방법들의 문제점을 극복할 수 있는 신기술이라 할 수 있다. ESPI는 반도체와 같은 소형의 제품뿐만 아니라 기존에 측정하지 못했던 초고온, 대형 구조물의 변형도 정확하게 측정을 할 수 있어 많은 분야에 응용이 가능하다 또한 기존의 방법들을 대신하여 더욱 정밀한 측정을 할 수 있으며, 기존의 방법으로는 측정하지 못했던 특수한 경우에도 측정이 가능하다.(중략)

A Study on Development of Automatic Weld-Seam Tracking System using Vision Sensor (시각센서를 이용한 용접선 자동추적시스템의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • For improvement in productivity and weld quality, weld seam tracking and welding parameter control are very essential in the welding of a structure which can not be cxactly fit-up due to mismatch, discontinous gap, deflection, etc.. In this study, an automatic weld seam tracking system is developed for I-butt joint structure, and the system consists of XYZ working table, vision sensor and user interface program. In the developed vision sensor system, an image projection algorithm for weld-line detection and an adaptive current control algorithm for gap variation were implemented. The user interface program developed in this study by basing on the objct oriented concept could provide very convenient way to utilize the tracking system with the pull-down menu driven structure. The developed system showed a good seam tracking and weld quality control capability corresponding to deflected weld lines and gap variations.

  • We have investigated traits of clad metals in hot-rolled clad steel plates, sensitization and mechanical properties of STS 316 steel plate and carbon steel(A516). Clad steel plates were butt-weld by SAW+SMAW, and with the time of heat treatment as the variable, heat treatment was conducted at $625^{\circ}C$, for 80, 160, 320, 640, 1280 minutes. As a way to evaluate it, sectioned weldments and external surfaces were investigated to reveal the degree of sensitization by mechanical property, etching and those of EPR test, results were compared with it. In short, the purpose of this study is suggesting some considerations in developing on-site techniques to evaluate the sensitization of stainless steels.

  • This paper is concerned with the simulator to estimate deformation due to welding of panel blocks. An efficient computer program system has been developed which can be applied to estimation of weld-induced deformation under the given welding conditions. The theoretical background of the present simulator is described with the prediction model for the various type of weld-induced deformation. The developed simulator has been applied to estimation of weld-induced deformation in panel block assembly. This paper ends with some findings from applying the developed simulator.

  • Magnesium alloys are potentially useful as structural materials due to higher strength/weight ratio, heat conductivity and recyclability compared to other alloys. These alloys have attracted the interest of modern manufacturing such as the automobile, computer, communication and consumer electronic appliances industries. Hence welding techniques are required to be developed for these applications. Laser are known to be an excellent tool for them. This paper presents the laser weldability of AZ31 magnesium alloy with CW Nd:YAG laser. The low viscosity and surface tension of the melt pool make magnesium more difficult to weld than steel. As a result of this study, optimal process parameters could be obtained without weld defects. Also it was certain that cutting methods had influence on butt weldability.

Fatigue Life Analysis of Butt-welded specimen by Local Strain Approach (국부변형률방법을 이용한 용접시험편의 피로수명 해석)

  • The residual stresses and. distortions of structures by welding exert negative effect on the safety of railroad structures. This investigation performs a thermal elasto-plastic analysis using finite element techniques to evaluate residual stresses in butted-welded joint. Considering this initial residual stresses, local stress and strain at the critical location (weld toe) during the loading were analyzed by elastic plastic finite element analysis. Fatigue crack initiation life and fatigue crack propagation life of butt-welded specimen were predicted by local strain approach and Neuber's role and Paris law. It is demonstrated that fatigue life estimates by local strain approach closely approximate the experimental results.
