QoS Improvement Scheme in Optical Burst Switching using Dynamic Burst length Adjustment (광 버스트 스위칭에서 버스트 길이의 동적 조절을 통한 QoS 향상방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a scheme that can control the loss probability of low priority class bursts by dynamically adjusting the assembly threshold of low priority class. The key ideas is that the loss Probability of the longer burst increases as the load increases, thus reduced low priority class burst length decreases the loss priority at high traffic load. To achieve this aim, we first derive the relation among the loss probability, the assembly threshold, and the traffic load. In this paper we derive the relation by curve fitting on the simulation results. The ingress edge routers periodically or by event-driven receives the proper corresponding assembly threshold information from the core routers. This assembly threshold is calculated from the derived relation so that the required loss probability of the low priority class bursts in the network is satisfied. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme performs well to meet the loss probability target as expected.

  • The Korea Army are developing the TICN(Tactical Information Communication Network) which is the next army tactical communication system. The TICN tactical backbone's ability is very important. So analysis of the standard protocol for the data transmission guarantee are obliged. For the TICN tactical backbone, previous paper analysed routing protocol efficiency index and compared to superiority of the OSPF and IS-IS protocols in the tactical environment and conclusively IS-IS protocol was more suitable for TICN backbone routing protocol. And We got the result that It could improve the performance of IS-IS protocol as a TICN tactical backbone protocol under the tactical environments by adjusting some time parameters of IS-IS protocol. This paper modified and designed the IS-IS protocol in order to support the QoS strategies of TICN and analyzed it's adaptability through simulation.

  • This article analyzes the lock-in factors and their advancement direction of Korean energy innovation system(EIS), using case-study methodology. As the lock-in factors, which have been structural and complicated ones in the developing process of Korean EIS, are postulated government policies, market, industrial network, and demand condition. The lock-in phenomena result from connecting and conflicting incompletely among government policies, competing and controlling oligopolistically in market, constructing insufficiently in intra-industrial value-chain, and lowering in demand efficiency. To cope with these lock-in structure, connection among government policies, activation in market competition, coordination of industrial structure for added values, and uprading in energy efficiency are needed.

  • Plant phenomics is a technique for observing and analyzing morphological features in order to select plant varieties of excellent traits. The conventional methods is difficult to apply to the phenomics system. because the color threshold value must be manually changed according to the detection target. In this paper, we propose the convolution neural network (CNN) structure that can automatically segment plants from the background for the phenomics system. The LeafNet consists of nine convolution layers and a sigmoid activation function for determining the presence of plants. As a result of the learning using the LeafNet, we obtained a precision of 98.0% and a recall rate of 90.3% for the plant seedlings images. This confirms the applicability of the phenomics system.

  • Among the generative models in Artificial Intelligence (AI), especially Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) has been successful in various applications such as image processing, density estimation, and style transfer. While the GAN models including Conditional GAN (CGAN), CycleGAN, BigGAN, have been extended and improved, researchers face challenges in real-world applications in specific domains such as disaster simulation, healthcare, and urban planning due to data scarcity and unstable learning causing Image distortion. This paper proposes a new progressive learning methodology called Progressive Step Training (PST) based on the Auxiliary Classifier GAN (ACGAN) that discriminates class labels, leveraging the progressive learning approach of the Progressive Growing of GAN (PGGAN). The PST model achieves 70.82% faster stabilization, 51.3% lower standard deviation, stable convergence of loss values in the later high resolution stages, and a 94.6% faster loss reduction compared to conventional methods.

  • This paper proposes a high-gain phased array antenna that can provide private network communication services for large office spaces, factories, and other large-scale facilities, specifically designed for millimeter-wave band 5G (5th generation) networks. The proposed antenna features a 4×4 array structure with eight sub-arrays, each consisting of a 1×2 series array. To achieve high side-lobe characteristics, an offset array structure is applied by shifting even-numbered rows by one unit, combined with power tapering to adjust the size of individual radiating elements. This design achieves a high side-lobe level (SLL) of 22.3 dB and a high gain of 18.1 dBi. Additionally, the antenna provides gain characteristics of at least 15.2 dBi and 17.4 dBi within the intended beam steering range of ±45° in the azimuth direction and ±10° in the elevation direction, ensuring smooth communication services over a wide service area.

AN ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT ON THE DATA PROCESSING OF KOREA GPS NETWORK BY THE ABSOLUTE PHASE CENTER VARIATIONS OF GPS ANTENNA (절대 위상중심변화 적용이 국내 GPS 망 자료처리에 미치는 영향분석)

  • The International GNSS Service (IGS) has prepared for a transition from the relative phase conte. variation (PCV) to the absolute PCV, because the terrestrial scale problem of the absolute PCV was resolved by estimating the PCV of the GPS satellites. Thus, the GPS data will be processed by using the absolute PCV which will be an IGS standard model in the near future. It is necessary to compare and analyze the results between the relative PCV and the absolute PCV for the establishment of the reliable processing strategy. This research analyzes the effect caused by the absolute PCV via the GPS network data processing. First, the four IGS stations, Daejeon, Suwon, Beijing and Wuhan, are selected to make longer baselines than 1000km, and processed by using the relative PCV and the absolute PCV to examine the effect of the antenna raydome. Beijing and Wuhan stations of which the length of baselines are longer than 1000km show the average difference of 1.33cm in the vertical component, and 2.97cm when the antenna raydomes are considered. Second, the 7 permanent GPS stations among the total 9 stations, operated by Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, are processed by applying the relative PCV and the absolute PCV, and their results are compared and analyzed. An insignificant effect of the absolute PCV is shown in Korea regional network with the average difference of 0.12cm in the vertical component.

  • The wireless asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) system has the advantage of providing the broadband services with various quality-of-service requirements to the mobile terminal efficiently by utilizing the ATM technology developed for the wired ATM system. The available bit rate (ABR) service among various ATM services utilizes the available bandwidth remaining in the ATM link, which allows the efficient bandwidth usage. During the handoff of the mobile terminal, however, the queue length in the access point (AP) which resides in the boundary of the wired ATM network and the wireless ATM network may increase abruptly. In this paper, we propose a scheme which prevents the buffer-overflow and buffer-underflow in the AP during the handoff of the wireless ABR connection in the wireless ATM system using binary feedback rate-based ABR traffic control. This scheme controls the source's cell generation rate during both handoff period and some time interval after the completion of the handoff procedure. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme prevents the buffer-overflow and buffer-underflow. The proposed scheme can contribute to increasing the throughput of the wireless ABR service during handoff by preventing the buffer overflow and underflow during handoff period.

  • The 1st order vertical network of Korea was adjusted in 1987 at first time. This is the second adjustment of the 1st order vertical network of Korea by National Geographic Information Institute. All the levelling data were acquired by digital level with invar staff. The number of 1st order level lines are 36, and 34 level lines comprise 11 circles of level network. Backward and forward error of a few level lines are larger than the regulations of NGII, Korea. Also, 3 circles of vertical network has circuit closure error that is exceed the regulation. As the result of 1st order vertical network adjustment, the reference standard error of the vertical network was $1.8mm/{\surd}km$.

  • In this paper, we develop a transportation planning system for the mail transportation network, which consists of 25 mail centers and one mail exchange center. The main functions of the system are adjustment of transportation plan, creation of new transportation plan, and calculation of expected exchange mail volume which are transported through mail exchange center. We develop an adjusting algorithm which gives a new transportation plan by deleting, adding or changing the current routes. The algorithm based on the transportation results of current transportation plan and mail volume data. We design and implement a planning system by installing the algorithm as the planning engine. For the practical use, the system is connected to the information system of Korea Post, PostNet.
