We conducted a cluster analysis and ANOVA on 477 samples, which have alliance experience among the manufacturers responding to the Business Survey by Statistical Office in both 2012 and 2013. As a result of the analysis, it was found that firms have alliance portfolio based on strategy such as exploration, exploitation, and ambidextrity. There are statistically significant differences in the number of patents, technology capability, marketing capability, and global capability among the alliance portfolio strategy type.

  • Affiliate marketing is classified as a type of online advertising, where merchants share a percentage of sales revenue generated by each customer, who visited the company's website via a content provider. Content provider, referred to as an affiliate, usually places an online advertisement at its website. For the past few years, there have been a lot of companies or individuals who participate in affiliate marketing. Generally speaking, most of them have websites and post the merchant's ads on their own websites. However, building and maintaining websites have some technology requirements. The widespread use of Social Network Service (SNS), especially microblog-based SNS such as Twitter and Sina Weibo, provides opportunities for individuals who want to be content providers of affiliate marketing. Since information spreads quickly on microblog-based SNS and the easy in targeting customers, it is both an effective and an efficient tool to do affiliate marketing. The relationship between a content provider and the potential customer, which is referred as "tie strength", is quite an important issue in such situation. This paper proved that service characteristics of the microblog-based SNS (security, community drivenness and navigability) and content quality all had positive influence on click-through intention, while tie strength played a moderating role. For the group with strong tie, tie strength is crucial in influencing click-through intention. While for the weak tie group, content quality was very important. Finally, we proposed some implications for both academics and practitioners.

Based on the collected data, the structural model was analyzed with Lisrel 8.12. The results can be summarized as follows. First, the longer the transaction term, the lower the opportunism and the higher the perceived alliance performances. Second, the better the transaction records, the lower the opportunism and the higher the perceived alliance performances. Third, the reputation of alliance partner company has not any influence on the opportunism and the perceived alliance performances. Finally, the lower the opportunism of alliance partner, the higher the perceived alliance performances. At the end of the paper, managerial implications and future research directions are discussed.

  • Issues of how firms form collaborative inter-firm alliances, how they nurture the alliance relationships as meaningful ones, and how they evolve and manage collaborations in turbulent market environments deserve increasing research attention. To contribute to filling this void, this study conceptualizes an alliance orientation as a firm's capabilities to help achieve an advantageous alliance performance to its rivals and based on this concept, demonstrates specific process for a successful alliance performance. First, this study empirically explores the influence of a new construct, alliance orientation, on firms' alliance performance. Second, the concept of alliance creativity as a positional mediation variable between alliance orientation and market performance is explained and then empirically explored. Third, alliance performance as a mediator between alliance orientation and market performance is presented and then is empirically reviewed.
