마이크로 피라미드 패턴 응용 도광판 제작을 위한 니켈 스탬퍼 제작에 관한 연구 (Fabrication of Ni Stamper based on Micro-Pyramid Structures for High Uniformity Light Guide Panel (LGP))

  • Pyramid shape of micro pattern is applied to the light guide panel (LGP) to enhance the uniformity of the brightness of the LCD. The micro pyramids are molded in intaglio on the surface of the LGP. The size of each pyramid is 5$\mu$m $\times$ 5$\mu$m on bottom and the height is about 3.5$\mu$m. The pyramids are distributed on the LGP surface randomly to be sparser where the light comes in and denser at the opposite side as a result of a simulation using lightools$^{TM}$ Based on this design, a silicon pattern master and a nickel stamper are fabricated by MEMS process and electro plating process. Intaglio micro pyramids are fabricated on the 6' of silicon wafer from the anisotropic etching using KOH and the process time, temperature of the KOH solution, etc are optimized to obtain precise shape of the pattern. A Wi stamper is fabricated from this pattern master by electro plating process and the embossed pyramid patterns turns out to be well defined on the stamper. Adopting this stamper to the mold base with two cavities, 1.8' and 3.6' LGPs are injection molded.

  • We developed the micro CSF (celebrospinal fluid) shunt valve with surface and bulk micromachining technology in polymer MEMS. This micro CSF shunt valve was formed with four micro check valves to have a membrane connected to the anchor with the four bridges. The up-down movement of the membrane made the CSF on & off and the valve characteristic such as open pressure was controlled by the thickness and shape of the bridge and the membrane. The membrane, anchor and bridge layer were made of the $O_2$ RIE (reactive ion etching) patterned Parylene thin film to be about 5~10 microns in thickness on the silicon wafer. The dimension of the rectangular nozzle is 0.2*0.2 $\textrm{mm}^2$ and the membrane 0.45 mm in diameter. The bridge width is designed variously from 0.04 mm to 0.12 mm to control the valve characteristics. To protect the membrane and bridge in the CSF flow, we developed the packaging system for the CSF micro shunt valve with the deep RIE of the silicon wafer. Using this package, we can control the gap size between the membrane and the nozzle, and protect the bridge not to be broken in the flow. The total dimension of the assembled system is 2.5*2.5 $\textrm{mm}^2$ in square, 0.8 mm in height. We could precisely control the burst pressure and low rate of the valve varing the design parameters, and develop the whole CSF shunt system using this polymer MEMS fabricated CSF shunt valve.

  • The production of high-precision micro-sized screws, used to fasten parts of micro devices, generally utilizes a cold thread-rolling process and two flat dies to create the teeth. The process is fairly complex, involving parameters such as die shape, die alignment, and other process variables. Thus, up-front finite-element(FE) simulation is often used in the system design procedure. The final goal of this paper is to produce high-precision screw with a diameter of $800{\mu}m$ and a thread pitch of $200{\mu}m$ (M0.8${\times}$P0.2) by a cold thread rolling process. Part I is a first-stage effort, in which FE simulation is used to establish process parameters for thread rolling to produce micro-sized screws with M1.4${\times}$P0.3, which is larger than the ultimate target screw. The material hardening model was first determined through mechanical testing. Numerical simulations were then performed to find the effects of such process parameters as friction between work piece and dies, alignment between dies and material. The final shape and dimensions predicted by simulation were compared with experimental observation.

금형 내부 압력 최소화를 위한 자동차 인스트루먼트 패널의 게이트 위치 최적화 (Gate Locations Optimization of an Automotive Instrument Panel for Minimizing Cavity Pressure)

  • Cavity pressure, an important factor in injection molding process, should be minimized to enhance injection molding quality. In this study, we decided the locations of valve gates to minimize the maximum cavity pressure. To solve this problem, we integrated MAPS-3D (Mold Analysis and Plastic Solution-3Dimension), a commercial injection molding analysis CAE tool, using the file parsing method of PIAnO (Process Integration, Automation and Optimization) as a commercial process integration and design optimization tool. In order to reduce the computational time for obtaining the optimal design solution, we performed an approximate optimization using a meta-model that replaced expensive computer simulations. To generate the meta-model, computer simulations were performed at the design points selected using the optimal Latin hypercube design as an experimental design. Then, we used micro genetic algorithm equipped in PIAnO to obtain the optimal design solution. Using the proposed design approach, the maximum cavity pressure was reduced by 17.3% compared to the initial one, which clearly showed the validity of the proposed design approach.

  • 본 논문에서는 서로 다른 FSR (free spectral range)을 갖는 두 개의 가변 (tunable) 폴리머 링 공진기 기반의 $1{\times}2$ 스위치를 이용하여 광학적 방식의 채널 선택이 가능한 재구성형 (reconfigurable) 마이크로웨이브 (microwave: MW) 필터를 제안하고 구현하였다. 각 링 공진기는 두 개의 링이 연결되어 있으며 한 개의 링 위에 전극이 형성되어 있으며, 이 전극에 전압을 인가함으로써 열광학효과를 통해 On/Off 스위치로서 동작된다. 입력 MW 신호에 의해서 변조된 광신호를 이 스위치를 통해 특정 포트로 라우팅(routing)하고 광검출기를 통해 복원함으로써 두 개의 채널이 선택되는 MW 대역통과 필터 특성을 얻었다. 중심주파수가 10 GHz인 채널 I 이 선택된 경우, 소멸비는 ${\sim}30dB$, 대역폭은 1 GHz, Q값은 10, 최대 소비전력은 4.1 mW였다. 그리고 중심주파수가 20 GHz인 채널II가 선택된 경우에는 소멸비는 ${\sim}30dB$, 대역폭은 2 GHz, Q값은 10, 최대 소비전력은 8 mW였으며, 각 채널 간의 격리도는 24 dB 이상이었다.

갈륨 및 갈륨 합금을 이용한 저온접합 기술 동향 (Trends of Low-temperature Bonding Technologies using Gallium and Gallium Alloys)

  • 최근 세계적으로 유연 전자소자 관련 기술들이 주목을 받으면서 유연소자 제작 과정에서의 성형성 및 굽힘 상태에서의 성능과 내구성 등의 문제점을 개선하기 위하여 액체 금속을 사용한 배선·접합 기술들의 개발이 요구되고 있다. 이러한 요구에 부응하여 독성이 없으면서 낮은 점도와 우수한 전기전도도를 가지는 갈륨 및 갈륨계 합금 (공정 갈륨-인듐 및 공정 갈륨-인듐-주석 등)의 액체금속을 저온 접합소재로 이용하려는 다양한 연구들이 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 갈륨 및 갈륨계 합금을 이용한 저온접합 기술의 최신 연구동향을 정리하여 소개하고자 한다. 이러한 기술들은 향후 유연 전자소자의 제조 및 전자패키지에서의 저온접합 등의 분야에서 실용화를 위한 중요한 기반기술이 될 것으로 예상된다.

펨토초 레이저 유도 나노 및 마이크로 구조물을 활용한 금속 표면 기능성 제어 (Controlled Surface Functionalities of metals using Femtosecond Laser-induced Nano- and Micro-scale Surface Structures)

  • With femtosecond (fs) laser pulse irradiation on metals, various types of nano- and micro-scale structures can be naturally induced at the surface through laser-matter interaction. Two notable structures are laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSSs) and cone/spike structures, which are known to significantly modify the optical and physical properties of metal surfaces. In this work, we irradiate fs laser pulses onto various types of metals, cold-rolled steel, pickled & oiled steel, Fe-18Cr-8Ni alloy, Zn-Mg-Al alloy coated steel, and pure Cu which can be useful for precise molding and imprinting processes, and adjust the morphological profiles of LIPSSs and cone/spike structures for clear structural coloration and a larger range of surface wettability control, respectively, by changing the fluence of laser and the speed of raster scan. The periods of LIPSSs on metals used in our experiments are nearly independent of laser fluence. Accordingly, the structural coloration of the surface with LIPSSs can be optimized with the morphological profile of LIPSSs, controlled only by the speed of the raster scan once the laser fluence is determined for each metal sample. However, different from LIPSSs, we demonstrate that the morphological profiles of the cone/spike structures, including their size, shape, and density, can be manipulated with both the laser fluence and the raster scan speed to increase a change in the contact angle. By injection molding and imprinting processes, it is expected that fs laser-induced surface structures on metals can be replicated to the plastic surfaces and potentially beneficial to control the optical and wetting properties of the surface of injection molded and imprinted products.

양면 마이크로 패턴 차량용 후육 라이트 가이드의 사출성형 패턴 전사성에 관한 연구 (Study of injection molded pattern transferability of double-sided micro-patterned automotive thick light guides)

  • In this study, we investigated the injection molding technology of thick-walled light guides, which are parts that control the light source of automotive lamps. Through injection molding analysis, the gate position that can minimize product shrinkage and deformation was selected, and a mold reflecting the analysis results was manufactured to evaluate the effect of injection speed and holding pressure on transferability during micro-pattern molding through experiments. When designing an injection mold for products with varying thicknesses, it was found that installing the gate on the side of the thicker part was advantageous for reducing volume shrinkage and deformation. It was found that the effect of shrinkage due to thickness may be greater than the position of the gate on pattern transferability. The pattern transfer error decreased as the injection speed and holding pressure increased, and it was found that increasing the injection speed was relatively effective.

마이크로 광학 패턴이 있는 차량용 후육 라이트 가이드의 CAE 및 사출성형에 관한 기초연구 (A study on CAE and injection molding of automotive thick-walled light guide with micro-optical patterns)

  • In this study, basic research was conducted on manufacturing technology of thick-walled light guide a component that controls the light source of automobile lamps. As a preliminary study for manufacturing the final injection molded parts, a model for analyzing the influence of micro patterns on light guides is presented. The optical characteristics of the light guide were analyzed according to the change of the curvature radius of the micro-optical pattern, and the injection molding characteristics of the light guide according to the change of injection molding conditions were analytically evaluated. It was confirmed that the luminance uniformity improves as the R value decreases for changes in the micro-pattern R value, but it was confirmed that there are technical limitations in actual injection mold core processing and high-replication injection molding. Injection molding analysis showed that cooling channel design is very important compared to general injection molding due to thick-wall characteristics and thickness variation. It was also confirmed that the cooling channel has a great influence on the cycle time and birefringence result due to residual stress. As a result of analyzing the influence of filling time, holding condition, and cooling on shrinkage, it was found that the cooling water temperature has a significant effect on the shrinkage of ultra-fine light guide parts, and the holding condition also has a significant effect.

BF 컨버터의 역률 개선에 관한 연구 (A study on the power factor improvement of the Boost Forward Converter)

  • 본 논문에서는 BF 컨버터의 Active PFC 시스템을 구성하고, 전력 변환시 입력 전류를 전원 전압과 동상인 정현파로 제어하며 직류 출력 전압을 제어하기 위한 PWM-PFM 제어 기법을 사용하여 역률을 개선하였다. FET와 IGBT를 이용하여 본 논문에서 제시한 Boost 컨버터와 인버터 회로를 구성하였고, 제안된 Boost 컨버터의 제어 회로는 마이크로프로세서 80C196으로 구성하였다. 또한 입력 전압이 30V이고, Boost 인덕터가 1.1 mH일 때 정격 출력은 전압 50V, 전류 IA, 듀티비 (Duty Ratio) 0.5 이상으로 하였다. 부하 저항의 변화에 따른 전압 변화를 PWM-PFM 제어 기법을 이용하여 제어하였고, 전류 성형 기법을 이용하여 역률이 0.96 가지 개선됨을 실험으로써 입증하였다.
