  • The purpose of this study was to understand the degree of natural radon removal efficiency of small-scale water supply systems. Six sites were selected for this study, and data on well characteristics (depth, pumping rate, water tank capacity, distance from well to tap water) were obtained. Water samples both from raw water and three tap waters at each site were collected and analyzed for radon concentration. Average radon removal efficiency of the five sites (A-E) in Nov. 2006 was 26.0% while that of the same sites in Dec. 2006 was 45.6% indicating seasonal difference in natural radon removal efficiency. Meanwhile short-term (April 23, April 30, May 8, 2007) radon removal efficiency from the site F was 44.1-49.0%, implying only a little difference in natural radon removal efficiency. The degree of radon removal at tap water was influenced mainly by pumping rate rather than distance from the well and water tank capacity.

  • This study is to investigate the effect of the motivation of choosing the tourist spots on the image of the tourist spots and the intention of revisiting targeting the tourists visiting Gamcheon Culture Village. The motivations of choosing the tourist spots, such as experiences, sightseeing, viewing of the cultural events, have a positive (+) effect on the affective image of the tourists. Only sightseeing in the motivations of choosing the tourist spots has a positive (+) effect on the epistemic image of the tourists. With the results of the analyzed effect of the affective image of the tourist spots on the intention of revisiting, it is revealed that the affective image has a significant effect on the intention of revisiting, not the epistemic image. It is suggested that the tourists have a good impression of Gamcheon Culture Village through experiences, sightseeing, viewing of the cultural events. In order for Gamcheon Culture Village to be one of the world-famous tourist spots, many attractions should be provided along with more different experience programs than now, various attractions, alley festivals held throughout the year. With the village developed with the greatest care, the tourists should have the intention of revisiting the village through experiences, sightseeing, viewing of the cultural events with their precious memories, since positive images tourists have tend to be anchored in the affective area rather than in the epistemic one.

  • In this study, a tentative decision-making matrix for village planning in reclaimed land was proposed. The evaluating conditions in the matrix are reclaimed farming acreage and distance. And the indexes for evaluation works are farming acreage required for increasing present farm size to target size in the base of, allowable commuting distance for farming from and effective controlling distance of each village. The village planning strategies are considered into four categories ; upkeep of present village scale, transfer of its superfluous farming acreage to a neighbouring village, enlargement of present village scale and new village construction in reclaimed land. As a case study, the proposed decision-making matrix was applied to 69 villages, which are contiguous to the potential farming area from reclamation works of Yongsan River Basin Comprehensive Development Project Phase Ill and so considered in this study as future farming villages there. From the application results, the following tactics for village planning may be proposed ; principally, upkeep or enlargement of present village scale, but, in an exceptional few cases of standard farming size being 3~5ha, new village construction of normal or satellite scale.

  • The aim of this study was to suggest site-specific reuse alternatives for closed unsanitary landfills (CULs) scattered in Gyeongbuk Province. The CULs were classified with the factors affecting the site reuse alternative to provide basic data for systematic site reuse. Statistical analysis showed that the site area was the main factor in site classification among the site area, distance to road, and distance to the village. The results proposed a site-specific guide flow to the reuse of the CULs.

  • Soil in Jeju Island is largely classified into dark brown non-volcanic ash soil weathered by basalt, dark brown ash soil and black volcanic ash soil origin from volcanic ash. Non-volcanic ash soil is similar to main land soil which can cultivate rice and barely, however, volcanic ash soil is very sterile therefore even barely cultivation is impossible. Although dolmen distribution, ancestral rites, folk songs and agricultural methods can be clearly classed into regional characteristics, it is hard to adduce humanistic sociological basis. However, regional characteristics can be classified by using soil physic-chemical properties of non-volcanic ash soil and volcanic ash soil. Non-volcanic ash soil region relatively has cheerful folk song, dolmen is found and bunjitgeori ancestral rites are common. One the other hand, there are no dolmen are found in volcanic ash soil area. Sad shamanistic song such as Jinsadetsori is common and firstborn-son takes the lead in ancestral rites in this area. This lesson interprets socio-cultural difference using soil environment.

  • In this article, I would like to pay attention to the changesofShaman's play as a part of examining the process of changeofDonghaeanbyeolsingut. Currently, Shaman's play can be seeninBaekseok2-ri, Byeonggok-myeon, Yeongdeok-gun, Gugye-ri, Namjeong-myeon and Yeongdeok-gun. Among them, ShamanRitual of Baekseok2-ri is short in cycle and easy to see change. InShaman Ritual of Baekseok2-ri, various Shaman's plays suchasJungdodukjabi(중도둑잡이), Wonnimnori(원님놀이), Talgut(탈굿), Mallori(말놀이), Hotalgut(호탈굿) and Georigut(거리굿) areperformed. Shaman's play carried out in Donghaeanbyeolsingut changesevery time it is carried out. Depending on the degree of change, itcan be classified into passive change and positive change. Whilepassive changes are improvisational, aggressive changes areintentional. Shaman's plays are jungdodukjabi, Mallori, Hotalgut, which are the improvisational changes, and the intentional changesare Wonnimnori, Talgut, Georigut. The biggest change in Shaman's play is the disappearance of the Shaman Ritual. The Shaman Ritual is suspended due to lackofpeople, financial difficulties, religious conflicts or rational accidents. Secondly, the period of separation is shortened or shortened. Thiscauses Shaman's play to be dropped or shrunk to change. InShaman Ritual, changes in Shaman's play are variable andcreative. The change due to the intervention of the spectatorsismainly improvisation. On the other hand, the change bythepreliminary plan of the acquaintance is intentional, and the changeis large. The changing factors of Shaman's play are influenced bythedemands of the times and the recognition of the tradition group. Changes in the traditional environment can be attributed to lackofhuman resources, individualism, changes in the workingenvironment and time constraints. At the same time, givingautonomy to traffickers is a major reason for Shaman's playtochange.

  • The objectives of this study are to analyze the spatial site characteristics of existing tombs and the change in the pattern of spatial distributions of tombs over time. The spatial distributions of tombs located in Honam province along the Honam expressway were investigated by interpreting digital aerial photographs taken in two different points of time; 1990 and 2000. According to the results of the study, the tombs newly observed in 2000 photos were located closer to roads and villages than those found in the photos of 1990. This is a finding indicating that the accessibility of tombs has been more important consideration in determining the location of tomb sites. Also found were the gentle slopes of southern aspects to be favored as tomb sites. Based on the data sets of tombs locations and their topographic site characteristics, the probability function of tombs appearance in the study area was derived using the logistic regression analysis technique. As a result, tomb sites were classified as 74.7% by logistic regression. All of six input factors (elevation, slope, aspect, distance from the roads, the town and the stream, respectively) affected the probability of tombs appearance significantly.
