A Study on the Charateristics for Ozone Decomposition over Recovered Mn from Spent Betteries (폐건전지에서 회수된 Mn을 이용한 오존분해 특성 연구)

  • In this study, the application of recovered metals from spent batteries by extraction was investigated for ozone decomposition as a catalyst. Among the recovered metals, Mn contents was the most important factor for ozone decomposition. It was also found that the deactivation rate of the catalyst was dependent on the Zn contents, while K contents and activities were not perfectly correlated for ozone decomposition. In addition, the catalytic activity the $TiO_2$ added catalyst was decreased, due to the reduction of Mn contents. The structural characteristics of maganase oxide was not associated with the catalytic activity for ozone decomposition.

  • Glucose was added into 2% MSG solution and studied for its effect on MSG degradation during heating at $100{\sim}120^{\circ}C$ and initial pH of 4 and 5. It was found that thermal degradation of MSG was significantly increased as the glucose concentration increased up to 20%. The values of thermal degradation constant calculated from linear relationship between log(% MSG) and heating time was linearly increased as the glucose concentration increased. The increased effect was more significant at pH5 than pH4.

  • The thermal degradation of the homopolymer poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and flame-retardant tetrabrormobisphenol-A(TBBA) as well as of their blends were carried out using the thermogravimetric method in the stream of nitrogen gas with 60ml/min at various heating rate from 1 to $20^{\circ}C/min$. Friedman and Ozawa mathematical methods were used to obtain the value of activation energy.

  • The spatial and temporal distribution of petroleum-degrading bacteria(PDB) was studied at six sampling sites in Kyeonggi Bay of the Yellow Sea fiom March 1990 to October 1991. In addition, petroleum-degrading potcntial of natural ~iiai-ineb acterial population was studied at different culturc contlitions. During the period o f stutly. thc heterotrophic bacterial number and PDB number were n1e;rsured in the range of 7 000-108.400 CFU/nil. 0-2.800 MPN1100 mi. respectively. The spatial tlistribution of PDB wa\ highly affected by presence of petroleum hydrocarbon.   • Two strains of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) utilizing bacteria were isolated from the waste water and soil. These strains, G5Y and PW, were able to utilize PVA symbiotically as a carbon source, but could not utilize PVA separately. In the mixed culture of these strains, 0.5 percent of PVA was almost completely degraded in 3 days. Effect of degree of PVA polymerization on the its utilization was examined, and there was no remarkable difference among three kind of PVA (PVA 500, 1500, a d 2000). These bacteria were able to utilize PV,4 in the desizing waste water of factory as well as enrichment PVA medium. These strains, C5Y and PW, were identified as Pseudomonas cepucia and Pseudomonus pseudomallei, respectively, based on morpholofical and biological characteristics.

Hydrolysis of Lactose in Whey by the BetavD-Galactosidase (Beta-D-Galactosidase에 의한 유청에 함유된 유당의 가수분해)

  • The optimum condition for the developement of a whey beverage from the concentrated whey was studied. Reverse osmosis system was used to obtain concentrated lactose from cheese whey. The hydrolysis degree of lactose by $\beta$-D-galactosidase was determined using HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography). The order of hydrolysis degree was 1:1, 2:l and 3:l concentrated lactose. It resulted from the concentrated salt which slightly inhibited $\beta$-D-galactosidase with constant enzyme dosage. The optimum condition for enzyme dosage was 2% in non-concentrated lactose, 3% in 2:l and 3% in 3:l concentrated lactose after 4 hours of reaction. When the 3:l concentrated lactose was used, more than 70% was hydrolyzed by 3% enzyme dosage. Furthermore the change of fermented whey by lactic acid bacteria was investigated. Based on the result of sensory test, the most favorable response was obtained at pH 4.2 and titratable acidity of 0.7% about 6 hours of fermentation at $37^{\circ}C$ with 2%: thermophilic starter.

  • The properties of proteolytic enzymes from the fruit of Broussonetia Kazinoki Siebold were investigated. The protease activity of the enzymes from the fruit of Broussonetia Kazinoki Siebold was 1.6 unit. The optimum temperature and pH of the enzymes were $60^{\circ}C$ and 7.0, respectively. The enzymes were stable at pH values from 6 to 8 for 1 hr. at $37^{\circ}C$ of incubation and also retained all activity after incubation for 1 hr. at $60^{\circ}C$. The enzyme preparations showed strong activities toward hemoglobin and collagen.

  • Total and free tryptophan contents in the fore shank muscle of korean cow treated with proteolytic enzymes have been analyzed by the spectrophotometric method and the results are as follows: 1. By adding 0.01%, 0.05%, 0.1% of proteolytic enzymes, the total tryptophan and free tryptophan have incresed steadily 2. The rate of increase of the total tryptophan content was highest when 0.05% of the enzymes for the meat weight were added. 3. The change in free tryptophan incident to the addition of proteolytic enzymes was insignificant.

  • In this paper, Thermocatalytic decomposition of methane in a fluidized bed reactor (FBR) was studied. The technical approach is based on a single-step decomposition of methane over carbon catalyst in air/water vapor free environment. The factors affecting methane decompostion catalyst activity in methane decomposition reactions were examined. The fluidization phenomena in a gas-fluidized bed of catalyst was determined by the analysis of pressure fluctuation properties, and the results were confirmed with characteristics of methane decomposition. The effect of parameters on the H2 yield was examined for methane decompostion. The decompstion rate was affected by the fluidization quality such as mobility, U-Umf, carbon attrition, elutriation and effectiveness density of fluidization gas.

$CO_2$Decomposition Properties of Ternary Ferrites Synthesized by the Wet Processing (습식 합성법으로 제조한 3원계 페라이트의 $CO_2$분해 특성 연구)

  • 산소 결핍 페라이트 (oxygen deficient ferrites, ODF) MF $e_2$ $O_{4-}$$\delta$/는 약 30$0^{\circ}C$의 낮은 온도에서 온실가스중 하나인 $CO_2$를 C와 $O_2$로 분해시킨다. 본 연구에서는 $CO_2$분해 촉매로서 3원계 초미세 페라이트 N $i_{x}$Z $n_{1-x}$F $e_2$ $O_4$와 N $i_{x}$ $Co_{1-x}$F $e_2$ $O_4$를 수열합성법과 공침법 등의 습식 합성법으로 각각 합성하여 이들 분말의 특성과 $CO_2$분해 특성을 고찰하였다. 페라이트의 XRD 결과, 결정구조는 모두 전형적인 스피넬 구조로 동일하게 나타났다. BET 비표면적은 수열합성법으로 제조한 3원계 페라이트의 경우 110$m^2$/g 이상으로 공침법으로 제조한 페라이트보다 비교적 큰 값을 나타냈고 분말 입자크기 또한 약 10nm의 매우 미세한 분말을 얻을 수 있었다. 3원계 산소 결핍 페라이트의 $CO_2$분해 효율은 공침법으로 합성한 것보다 수열합성법으로 합성한 것이 더 우수하게 나타났으며, N $i_{x}$ $Co_{1-x}$F $e_2$ $O_{4-}$$\delta$/보다 N $i_{x}$Z $n_{1-x}$F $e_2$ $O_{4-}$$\delta$/가 우수한 것으로 나타났다.
