Characteristics of CaCO3 Sorbent Particles for the In-furnace Desulfurization (로 내 탈황을 위한 CaCO3 흡착제 입자의 분위기 기체와 체류 시간의 변화에 따른 특성)

  • The in-furnace desulfurization technique is applied to the $O_2/CO_2$ combustion system for the carbon capture and storage (CCS) process because this combustion system does not need an additional chamber for the desulfurization. $CaCO_3$ sorbent particles, which have a wide range in size from a few nanometers to several tens of micrometers, are used for this process. In this study, an experimental system which can simulate the $O_2/CO_2$ combustion system was developed. $CaCO_3$ sorbent particles were exposed to the high temperature reactor at $1200^{\circ}C$ with various residence times (0.33-1.46 s) in air and $CO_2$ atmospheric conditions, respectively. The sorbent particles were then sampled at the inlet and outlet of the reactor and analyzed qualitatively/quantitatively using SMPS, XRD, TGA, and SEM. The results showed that the residence time and atmospheric condition in a high temperature reactor can affect the characteristics of the $CaCO_3$ sorbent particles used in the in-furnace desulfurization technique, such as the calcination rate and reaction mechanism.

Extraction of Valuable Metals from Spent Desulfurizing Catalyst (탈황(脫黃) 폐촉매(廢觸媒)로부터 유가금속(有價金屬) 추출(抽出))

  • Sulphuric acid leaching was conducted to extract the metal values from spent refinery catalyst. More than 95% of Ni and V and 30% of Mo could be leached out in 1 M sulphuric acid and 1 hr of leaching time. The decrease in Mo leaching was due to typical characteristic of Mo matrix. The activation energies of the leaching reactions showed the dissolution process follows a diffusion control mechanism. In order to leach out all Mo, further the leaching experiments were conducted with sulfur free spent refinery catalyst. For sulfur free spent refinery catalyst, a two step process of leaching with 1 M sulphuric acid followed by sodium carbonate washing showed better leaching than a two step leaching process with sodium carbonate followed by sulphuric acid washing, with almost 99% leaching of Ni, Mo and V. Solvent extraction using LIX 841 were conducted for a leach liquor containing Ni, 2 g/L; V, 9 g/L, Mo, 0.6 g/L. More than 98% of Mo was extracted from the leach liquor at A:O ratio of 5:2 in a 2 stage process. Similarly V was extracted at A:O ratio of 5:3 in a 2 stage process with 82% of total V extraction.

  • 도시가스, LP 가스, 가솔린 등의 수증기 개질의 반응온도가 $700^{\circ}C$이상의 고온에서 이루어지는 것에 비해 DME 수증기 개질의 반응온도는 $400^{\circ}C$ 이하의 낮은 온도에서 이루진다는 점에서 우수하다. 또한 황 성분을 함유하지 않기 때문에 원료로부터 탈황 과정이 필요 없다. 특히 DME 수증기 개질의 경우 반응온도가 낮은 것과 개질 촉매가 일반적으로는 Cu 계 촉매이기 때문에 도시가스 등의 개질장치와 달리 CO 변성 장치가 불필요하다. 이 때문에 수소제조를 위해 개질장치가 소형화 가능하고 연료전지 자동차로의 탑재가 용이하여 가능성이 높다 개질장치가 소형화 가능한 것으로 메탄올의 수증기 개질이 있지만 메탄올은 독성이 있다는 점이 문제시되고 있다. 그 점에서 메탄올의 수증기 개질 보다 반응 온도는 다소 높게 되지만 독성 없는 DATE는 기존의 LP가스 인프라를 이용할 수 있는 ME는 특히 우수한 수소제조를 위한 원료이고 수소저장체로 사료된다. 본 연구에서는 가능성 높은 촉매를 사용하여 DME로부터 수소 전환율, 수소 생성속도와 양에 대한 실험실적 결과를 고찰하고자 수행하였다

Applicability Evaluation of Eco-Friendly Binder Material using Desulfurized Dust in Deep Cement Mixing Method (탈황분진을 활용한 친환경 안정재의 심층혼합공법 적용성 평가)

  • In this study, laboratory mixture design test and field test were performed to evaluate applicability of eco-friendly binder material (CMD-SOIL) using desulfurized dust in deep cement mixing method (DCM). As a result of laboratory mixture design test, the uniaxial compressive strength of CMD-SOIL was up to 1.136 times bigger than slag cement by changing the water content, mixing rate, and W/B. Also, it had shown the strength up to 1.222 times bigger in shell content and up to 1.363 times in mixing of floating soil. As a result of field test, field strength/laboratory design criterion strength ratio (${\lambda}$) is shown 0.77. And this result was similar to earlier studies. From this result, CMD-SOIL can show the same efficiency compared with existing binder.

  • Duplex STS는 응력부식 저항이 큰 페라이트상과 우수한 내식성을 제공하는 오스테나이트상이 미세하게 1:1로 결합하여 강도가 오스테나이트 STS 보다 최소 1.7배 이상 높을 뿐 아니라 공식(pitting)과 응력부식 저항성이 우수해 최근에 주목받고 있는 고내식 고강도 재료이다. STS의 내식성을 평가하는 여러 지수 중 Pitting에 대한 내식성을 평가하는 지수로서 PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number)이 있다. PREN =%Cr + 3.3%(Mo + 0.5%W) + 16%N PREN이 30 이상이면 해안지역에서 사용가능하나, PREN이 40 이상인 경우에는 원자력발전소, 탈황 설비, 해수설비 및 화학Plant 등 고내식 환경에서 주로 사용가능하다. PREN이 40 이상인 Super Duplex STS은 다량의 Mo와 N을 첨가하여 만든 제품으로, 최근 10여 년 동안 해수 냉각 설비, 해수 담수화 설비, 탈황 설비, 석유화학 설비 및 원전용 CASK 등의 다양한 분야에 그 사용량이 꾸준히 증가하고 있는 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 Super Duplex STS의 TIG용접에서 실드가스 중의 $N_2$의 첨가가 PREN에 미치는 영향을 검토하였다. 실드가스 중 $N_2$가 용접금속으로 침입하는 메커니즘을 규명하고, 용접조건 변화에 따른 용접금속 내 N의 함량을 측정하여 PREN을 계산하고, 용접금속의 기계적 특성과 미세조직을 검토하였다.

Removal of High Strength Hydrogen Sulfide Gas using a Bioreactor Immobilized with Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and a Chemical Absorption Scrubber (Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans를 고정화한 생물반응기와 흡수탑을 이용한 고농도 황화수소 제거)

  • To treat a waste gas containing a high strength H2S, the two-stages microbial desulfurization process that conof a bioreactor immobilized with Acidithiobacillusferrooxidans and a chemical absorption scrubber has was proposed. After 4 times repeat of batch cultures, the immobilized bioreactor has been stabilized and the rate of iron oxidation reached 0.89 kg . $m^{-3}{\cdot}m^{-1}$ at steady state. The two-stages microbial desulfurization prowas able to be operated for a long term over 54 days. The removal efficiencies of H2S were 97-99% at a space velocity of 70 h-I and a inlet concentration of 37,000 ppmv. The maximum elimination capacity of H2S was approximately 3.3 kg S . $m^{-3}{\cdot}m^{-1}$. In the bioractor, the concentrations of the $Fe^{3+}$ and the immobilzed cell were constantly maintained during the desulfurization.

  • In this study, waste tire rubbers were pyrolyzed in a lab-scale pyrolysis plant equipped with a fluidized bed reactor in a temperature ranges of $450-650^{\circ}C$. The main object of this work is to investigate the properties of pyrolysis oil with reaction temperatures and the behavior of sulfur in the products when waste polypropylene was added for co-pyrolysis. The maximum yield of oil was about 52wt.% at the reaction temperature of $456^{\circ}C$. From GC-MS analysis, the pyrolysis oils consisted mainly of limonene, toluene, xylene, styrene, trimethylbenzene, methylnaphthalenes and some heteroatom(sulfur and nitrogen)-containing compounds. The addition of waste polypropylene resulted in decrease in sulfur contents of the pyrolysis oils.

  • Development of hydrogen station system is an important technology to commercialize fuel cells and fuel cell powered vehicles. Generally, hydrogen station consists of hydrogen production process including desulfurizer, reformer, water gas shift (WGS) reactor and pressure swing adsorption (PSA) apparatus, and post-treatment process including compressor, storage and distributer. In this review, we investigate the R&D trends and prospects of hydrogen station in domestic and foreign countries for opening the hydrogen economy society. Indeed, the reforming of fossil fuels for hydrogen production will be essential technology until the ultimate process that may be water hydrolysis using renewable energy source such as solar energy, wind force etc, will be commercialized in the future. Hence, we also review the research trends on unit technologies such as the desulfurization, reforming reaction of fossil fuels, water gas shift reaction and hydrogen separation for hydrogen station applications.

Risk Assessment Using RBI for Internal Corroded Pipelines in CDU Desulfurization Process (CDU 내 탈황공정의 내부부식 된 파이프라인을 대상으로 한 RBI기법을 이용한 위험성 평가)

  • in 2010s, many factories are operating without any safety guarantees due to the aging process. Although it is difficult to fundamentally solve the problem of aging process and equipment, Prevent risk by risk assessment in advance. This study targets the corrosion caused by sulfur in the piping in the CDU(Crude Distillation Unit) process desulfurization equipment and conducts the risk assessment by RBI(Risk Based Inspection) referring to API RP 581. RBI expresses the risk by combining frequency and consequence, and creates a risk matrix based on these expression. In this study, the hole size of the pipe was selected as Small and Medium, and the sensitivity of the frequency was selected as 'Low'. You can refer to the Risk Matrix created from the standard to evaluate the risk of corrosion of sulfur from pipes in the piping and to plan future accident prevention. Similarly, prevention of aging in a similar way can prevent large and small incidents that are not visible.
