Temporary Stresses by Applying Construction Methods for Continuous Steel-Concrete Double Composite Box Girder Bridges (이중합성 연속 박스거더교에 대한 가설공법별 발생 단면력 검토)

  • Construction techniques for continuous steel bridges were applied to steel-concrete double composite box girder bridges. Concrete depth and length at the bottom of the steel box in the negative moment region were determined by plastic moment region and negative moment region of the double composite section, respectively. Construction methods, such as crane lifting method, free cantilever method, and incremental launching method were used for the analysis of the construction stage. Two cases of the construction phase were considered and analyzed for the stress resultant of double composite girders. The behavior of the nose-deck elastic system was examined by three-dimensionless parameters, such as the nose length, the unit weight of the launching nose, and the flexural stiffness of the nose. The adoption of the launching nose has become an effective solution in the incremental launching of steel-concrete double composite box girder bridges.

  • 모터나 기계류와 같이 주변에서 발생하는 미활용 진동에너지를 전기에너지로 수확하기 위한 Piezoelectric Energy Harvester를 개발하고자 하였다. PZT-5H의 조성으로 후막세라믹 적층 구조 캔틸레버 타입의 압전시트를 통해 압전 에너지 하베스터를 제작하였다. 일반적으로 진동에너지를 수확하여 전기에너지로 변환시키는 압전 에너지 하베스팅 기술은 에너지 효율이 낮은 문제점을 가지고 있으므로 에너지 효율을 높이기 위한 방법으로 본 연구에서는 Unimorph 와 Bimorph 타입의 캔틸레버의 가로, 세로, 두께, 재료변수에 따라 발생하는 최적의 효율을 가지는 구조를 찾고자 하였다. 캔틸레버 각 변수에 따른 공진주파수 대역에서 발생하는 전압을 분석하여 50Hz의 공진주파수를 가지는 60*35*0.2mm의 캔틸레버를 설계하였다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 얻어진 결과를 실험적으로 검증하기 위해 전력량을 측정한 결과, Bimorph는 Unimorph 타입에 비해 2배가량의 향상된 발전특성을 가지며 에너지 하베스터에서 초당 $76.2\;{\mu}W$의 전력량을 가지는 것을 확인하였고 시뮬레이션 결과와의 타당성을 확인하였다.

A Study on the Meaning of New Brutalism in Sigurd Lewerentz's Late Church Architecture (지구르트 레버렌츠의 후기 교회당 건축에 나타난 뉴 브루탈리즘의 의미에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate into the meaning of the New Brutalism sensed in the late church buildings of the Swedish architect Sigurd Lewerentz (1885-1975). St Mark's (1956-64) and St Peter's (1962-66) churches, his grand finale designs, have a unique architectural vocabulary of rough brickwork. The brick treatment is the basis on which Reyner Banham (1966) discussed him concerning the New Brutalism, and the point that this research focuses on. This paper explores the brutalist character of the buildings from two aspects - interpretational level of individual buildings and historical level of a broader view. First, the character of two churches could be interpreted with the phrase of 'play between brutality and sacredness'. The rough surface of brick and mortar in the buildings symbolises brutality and the vault of their chapels' ceiling sacredness. And the two characteristics meet and play on the rough vault surface. Second, in the historical point of view, this paper argues that the buildings made a giant leap for Swedish modern architecture, which had been at a deadlock owing to the compromising attitude of the New Empiricism since 1940s. And the Swedish New Empiricism (or the New Humanism), spread to Britain as "Welfare State architecture" after World War II, brought about reaction of the young British architects such as the Smithsons and became the background that made the new brutalist mood. However, considering that the term of the New Brutalism was first used in Sweden by Hans Asplund, Lewerentz's brutalist late churches - which seemingly had nothing to do with the British nor the Corbusian lineage - are also meaningful in that they confirmed the tendency in its homeland. In conclusion, this paper argues that St Mark's and St Peter's churches with the brutalist characteristics should be regarded as crucial buildings not only in Lewerentz's personal career but also in Swedish and international architectural history.

A Leverage Strategy of the Defense Program Analysis Based on Systems Thinking (시스템 사고를 이용한 국방 사업분석 레버리지 전략)

  • The ever-increasing government budget constraints have led to a continued decline in the increase rate for defense spending, and the government's 5-year National Fiscal Management Plan has served to reinforce the verification and validation procedures for the Force Improvement Programs (FIP) budget requirements and performance. Additionally, as large programs are controlled in accordance with the Total Program Cost Management Guidelines, timely and credible feasibility study and performance measurement need to be conducted. Due to these internal and external circumstances, needs have surged for feasibility and economic effectiveness study for big ticket projects in the FIP sector, with an increasing number of studies conducted by external research institutes. However, questions have been raised regarding the credibility and thoroughness of the program analyses performed by these research institutes due to various restrictions. This paper analyzes and identifies the structural limitations and problems using a systems thinking approach, and examines the systemic characteristics of the program analysis system. It also presents policy intervention recommendations based on the theory of systems thinking, a method to regularize and reinforce the program analysis system. Policy interventions recommended to ensure alignment of the external studies to the clear analysis objectives and resolve the bottlenecks in the external analysis include training those in charge of external study commissioning for a short term intervention, and increasing the number of research institutes and consulting agencies utilizing analysis and evaluation experts who transition to the private sector from the military for a long term intervention. additionally presented are strategies and policy alternatives to best utilize these policy interventions. They will contribute to the stable funding of Force Improvement Programs and efficient utilization of defense budget.

Determinants of Capital Structure of High Potential Enterprises of Korea (중견기업의 자본구조 결정요인)

  • Although numerous theoretical and empirical studies on the capital structure have been performed, the studies on the capital structure of the high potential enterprises have not been worked. This paper performed empirical analyses for the first time to find out the determinants of capital structure of the high potential enterprises of Korea using the financial data of the manufacturing high potential enterprises listed on the Korea Exchange and KOSDAQ during 2010~2016. The results of regression analyses with debt ratio as dependent variable and profitability, firm size, asset tangibility and non-debt tax shield as independent variables show that the coefficients were relatively significant. The variables of the profitability and the tangibility were found to have positive relationship with the debt ratio. The non-debt tax shield were found to have in general positive relation with the leverage.

  • In this paper, we study a cause of malfunction of switch to control drive motor in DFMS(Digital Flux Mapping System) which can measure incore neutron flux of the nuclear plant, and develope a method to solve this problem. DFMS has the type of generating contact signal by mechanical switch lever, which is operated whenever thimble detector inserted or withdrawed through thimble Guide Tube. However the characteristics of the lever tend to be changed by mechanical degrade or bad environment and the lever finally generates errotic contact signal. Therefore we installed electric coil ass'yin the outside of Guide Tube instead of mechanical switch assy's. In addition we applied resonance effect to control circuit and installed condenser in the input of power supply to protect noise and interference. After completion of this improvement, we tested this improved device repetitively under the various conditions. In conclusion, we identified the generation of the desired contact signal and the prevention of detector failure through plant surveillance test during normal plant operation.

  • As the network composed of numerous sensor nodes, sensor network conducts the function of sensing the surrounding information by sensor and of the sensed information. The concept of the battlefield is also changing to one that includes not only physical spaces but all areas including the networks of the nation's key industries and military facilities, energy facilities, transportation, and communication networks. In light of the changing warfare in terms of how it is conducted and what form it takes, the Korea military has to seek ways to effectively respond to threats of cyber warfare. In the past, although partial strategies on cyber warfare were studied, no research was done through the overall system flow. In this paper, key variables related to cyber warfare security are classified into personnel, management, and technology. A simple model and an extended model are suggested for each area, and based on the technology area of the extended model, formal methods are used to verify the validity and a detailed response strategy is suggested according to the identified leverage.

  • The study for curling control of plain concrete in underground parking lot was conducted in this study. The shrinkage reducing agent(SRA) was used to minimize the curling deformation of plain concrete in underground parking lot. For the quantitative curling control, the simplified prediction method applying the deflection theory of cantilever beam was proposed too, and the validity of prediction method was examined through the comparison between the experimental values and predictive values. In result, the curling of SRA 1.0% concrete was about 30% less than that of SRA 0.0% concrete, and the possibility of curling estimation by the simplified prediction method was confirmed through the comparison between the experimental values and predictive values.

  • 반도체 소자의 선폭이 나노미터 스케일로 진입함에 따라 소자의 물리적 특성을 나노미터 스케일에서 정밀하게 측정하고자 하는 요구가 증대되고 있다. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)은 나노미터 이하의 해상도를 가지고 물질 표면의 기하하적, 전기적 특성 등을 측정할 수 있으므로 나노소자 연구에 필수적인 도구가 되었다. 그러나 AFM은 낮은 측정속도와 탐침의 기하학적 형상에 의한 AFM 영상의 왜곡 등과 같은 치명적인 단점도 가지고 있다. AFM의 낮은 측정 속도를 개선하기 위해서 진보된 마이크로머시닝기술을 이용하여 캔틸레버의 크기를 줄이거나 캔틸레버 위에 박막 구동기를 집적시키는 등의 노력이 진행되고 있으나, 이 경우 전통적인 식각 공정을 이용하여 캔틸레버 위에 tip을 형성하는 것이 매우 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 이미 제작된 캔틸레버 위에 전자빔 조사법을 이용하여 탄소상 tip을 직접 성장시킴으로써 전통적인 식각 공정에 비해 매우 간단하고 값싸며, 활용도가 높은 공정을 개발하였다. 탄소상 tip 성장에 필요한 탄소 소스는 dipping 방법을 이용하여 공급하였고, 시분할법을 사용하여 캔틸레버의 원하는 위치에 tip을 성장시킬 수 있었다. 이렇게 제작된 tip은 최대 $5{\mu}m$ 높이까지 가능했으며, 종횡비는 10:1 이상이어서 tip의 형상에 의한 AFM 영상 왜곡 현상을 최소화할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Closing Step Analysis in Cable-Stayed Bridges to Produce Initial Equilibrium Condition (초기평형상태 구현을 위한 사장교의 폐합단계 해석)

  • This paper presents a closing method for a cable-stayed bridge erected by the free cantilever method to produce the initial equilibrium configuration at the final construction stage. To realize the initial equilibrium condition in cable-stayed bridge by the cantilever method, compatibility conditions for vertical displacements, rotational angles, and axial displacements at the closing section of both side girders should be satisfied. In this paper, it was shown that it can be accomplished by using some applicable loads during construction such as the pull-up force of the derrick crane, some cable tension forces, and jacking force at the pylon. The proposed method was applied to a construction stage analysis of a sample bridge to demonstrate its validity, and it was acknowledged that the tower was considerably affected by the compatibility condition for axial displacement in the closing step.
