A Study on the Present Conditions and the Characteristics of Design Courses of Cyber Universities in Korea (한국의 사이버 대학 현황과 개설된 디자인 강좌에 대한 연구)

  • This research describes the definition of the characteristics and the role of cyber education through examination of the general situations of sixteen cyber Universities which have been operated in 2003. This research argued about problems and improvements of cyber university in terms of present registration condition of each University. Through the analysis of the data of Korean Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development in 2002. This research also analyzed qualitative aspects of design education that consist in cyber university through comparative analysis of characteristics, department names, a curriculum, a taxonomy of lecture type which are related to design major in each University. As a conclusion, this research emphasized the importance and the meaning of interaction between an instructor and students for successful cyber lecture.

Establishment of design model considering surrounding environment and users in public design - Focused on the bus station (공공디자인에 있어서 이용자와 주변 환경을 고려한 디자인 모델구축 - 버스정류장을 중심으로)

  • This study had been carried out based on the users' behavioral pattern in order to survey characteristics of bus station, a public facility. As a detailed analysis, quantification theory type 3 was performed based on 50 number of samples installed at each local governments as targets in order to evaluate bus station attributes and to survey its characteristics. As a result of this experiment, it was revealed that installation pattern of bus station would differ depending on characteristics of four axis of migrating population density, functionality and simplicity, metropolitan city of densely populated companies, local city with strong locality, the front of school with dense migrating population, secluded rural village, specific place like museum, rural area with dense migrating population. Therefore, in this study, detailed items were suggested comprehensively so that the design considering local environment and users' characteristics, in addition to modeling features of bus stations suitable for local characteristics, could be progressed. If any design and model complying with local environmental features based on above contents should be applied, bus station would be assessed by the users more positively in the future.

  • 세계적인 어획량 감소와 부패하기 쉽고 보관이 어렵다는 수산물의 특성에 따라 수산물의 적절한 가공과 이에 따른 수산물의 포장은 수산물의 상품성과 부가가치를 높일 수 있는 방법으로 최근 새롭게 부각되어 지고 있다. 이러한 환경에서 부산의 수산가공선진화 단지는 수산가공업의 경쟁력 제고 및 활성화를 목적으로 정책적으로 추진되고 있다. 수산가공선진화 단지는 식품 위생 안전시설(HACCP)을 통한 수산식품의 신뢰성 확보, 원재료 및 제품의 공급 체계 확보를 통한 비용절감 및 물류 효율화 등 수산가공업체의 운영 환경구축과 함께 가공수산물의 포장디자인 관련 연구 지원시설인 포장디자인센터도 단지 내에 구축될 예정이다. 본 연구에서는 수산가공선진화 단지 내 구축될 포장디자인센터의 역할과 거시적 운영목표를 설정하고 효율적인 운영방향을 제시하고자 하는 목적으로 진행되었다. 포장디자인센터는 공공의 자산으로서 수산가공선진화단지의 입주기업 뿐 아니라 지역의 수산물 가공산업 전반에 대한 발전을 이끌어야 하며, 디자인산업과의 융합으로 새로운 디자인 수요를 창출하고 특성화하여 지역디자인산업의 진흥을 목적으로 운영되어야 한다. 이러한 목적의 달성을 위해 산업화, 지식화, 융합화, 차별화의 4가지의 비젼을 운영 컨셉으로 도출하였고 이를 바탕으로 포장디자인센터의 효율적인 운영을 위한 전략적 추진사업으로 6가지 사업을 제시하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 디자인산업과 가공수산물산업의 융 복합이 성공적으로 운영되어 국 내외 시장에서 경쟁력을 확보하고 산업간 융합을 통한 새로운 활력 창출의 성공적인 모델이 될 수 있기를 기대한다. 본 원고는 한국브랜드디자인학회 통권 제28호에 실린 논문에서 발췌했다

The Effect of Chinese Cultural Characteristics on the Navigation Design of Mobile Shopping Applications (중국인의 문화적 특성이 모바일 쇼핑 어플리케이션 네비게이션 디자인에 미치는 영향)

  • One of the most important parts of the user experience in mobile device interaction is navigation design. Navigation design plays a key role in enabling users to perform their desired functions and to access the information and content they need by mobile applications. In this process, differences in cultural characteristics and backgrounds of users may affect the navigation design, and thus the user experience may represent a significant difference. This study compared the navigation design of popular mobile shopping applications in China and the United States to examine the differences and analyzed the reasons. Based on this comparison, we proposed that the Chinese preferred rich information, colorful images and various menu styles, while Americans preferred simple designs, layouts and limited types of menu. In addition, two types of mobile shopping application navigation design schemes reflecting cultural characteristics were evaluated to examine the difference of Chinese and American users' preference, and the validity of our study was verified based on the results.

A Fundamental Study on K-12 Design Education Emphasizing 'Design Based Education' (초.중등 디자인교육에 대한 기초연구 :‘디자인을 기초로 한 교육’을 중심으로)

  • Design education has been developed on the basis of higher education and continuing education for professional designers. This professional education has been regarded as a top priority in order to establish the discipline of design and status of designers in the society for the birth of design as a new discipline. Education of designers, however, should not be limited within the professional education led by higher education system. In order to educate designers having the competitiveness for the 21st century, it is necessary to expand the range of design education from higher education to general education by developing new programs. This paper is designed to investigate the importance and characteristics of 'Design-Based Education' by emphasizing design educational methods which are applied to the general education. As case studies, the current educational situations of England and United States of America are analyzed on the basis of their efforts and children's education programs. This study will provide the fundamental guideline for the development of K-12 design education in Korea.
