Device Caching Strategy Maximizing Expected Content Quality

  • This paper proposes a novel method of caching contents that can be encoded into multiple quality levels in device-to-device (D2D)-assisted caching networks. Different from the existing caching schemes, the author allows caching fractions of an individual file and considers the self cache hit event, which the user can find the desired content in its device. The author analyzes the tradeoff between the quality of cached contents and the cache hit rate, and proposes the device caching method maximizing the expected quality that the user can enjoy. Depending on the parameter of the relationship between the quality and the file size, the optimal caching method can be obtained by solving the convex optimization problem and the DC programming problem. If the file size increases faster than the quality, the cached fractions of the contents continuously increase as the popularity grows. Meanwhile, if the file size increases slower than the quality, some of the high-popularity files are entirely cached but others are not cached at all.

  • In this paper, we developed GridGML for efficiently supplying a GML and visualizing the map with partitioning map and caching method to a mobile device. In order to overcome the weighting of a file, which is the biggest weakness of a GML, GridGML extracts only the most necessary parts for the visualization of the map among GML attributes, and makes the file light as a class instance by applying an offset value. GridGML manages a partition based on the visualization area of a mobile device to visualize the map to a mobile device in real time, and transmits the partition area by serializing it for the benefit of transmission. Also, the received partition area is compounded in a mobile device and is visualized by being partitioned again as four visible areas based on the display of a mobile device. Then, the area is managed by applying a caching algorithm in consideration of repetitiveness for a received map for the efficient operation of resources. Also, in order to prevent the delay in transmission time as regards the instance density area of the map, an adaptive map partition mechanism is proposed for maintaining the transmission time uniformly.

  • Internet of Things (IoT) 특성상 경량 디바이스를 사용하기 때문에 한정된 메모리 용량과 컴퓨팅 파워를 효율적으로 활용하기 위한 경량 통신 프로토콜이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 IoT 기기에서 사용하는 경량 프로토콜인 MQTT를 이용해 센서 노드들이 보내는 데이터의 양을 최소화하여 트래픽 효율을 높이는 broker 캐싱을 제안한다. Broker 캐싱은 MQTT에서 센서 노드가 보낸 데이터를 broker가 캐싱해두고, 센서 노드로부터 중복 처리형 패킷을 받았을 때 캐싱한 데이터를 subscriber에게 전송한다.

  • 클라우드 기반 IoT 환경에서 광범위하게 설치된 디바이스는 보안성 강화 또는 기능 수정을 위해 소프트웨어를 원격에서 갱신할 필요가 있다. 디바이스는 하드웨어 자원과 네트워크 성능이 한정적이기 때문에 갱신 과정에서 발생하는 네트워크 트래픽을 줄여야하며 서비스가 중지되는 시간을 줄이기 위해 갱신 소요시간을 단축시켜야 한다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 갱신 과정에서 가상화 기술을 이용하여 이미지를 계층화 하고, 캐싱하는 방식을 이용한 소프트웨어 갱신 프레임워크를 제안한다. 이미지 계층화는 소프트웨어와 종속 파일을 담은 이미지 파일의 수정, 변경, 추가된 부분을 새로운 계층으로 생성하고 관리하는 것을 일컫는다. 캐싱은 갱신 과정에서 서버에서 전송한 이미지를 게이트웨이에 저장하고 다른 디바이스가 갱신을 요청하면 저장된 이미지를 서버를 거치지 않고 전송하는 것을 말한다. 이를 적용하여 새로운 계층만 전송하고, 중복된 데이터의 전송을 줄여 네트워크 트래픽 발생량을 줄이고, 설치 파일의 용량을 줄여 갱신 소요시간을 줄인다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 프레임워크는 트래픽 발생량과 갱신 소요시간이 기존 방식에 비해 감소한다.

  • 최근 초연결화를 근간으로 한 스마트 홈 구성을 위해 스마트 홈 내부에 센서를 탑재한 디바이스가 증가하고 있으며, 이를 효과적으로 사용하기 위해 빅데이터 처리 시스템이 활발하게 도입되고 있다. 그러나 기존 빅데이터 처리 시스템은 분산노드에 할당되기 전 모든 요청이 클러스터 드라이버로 향하기 때문에 동시에 많은 요청이 발생하는 경우 분할 작업을 관리하는 클러스터 드라이버에 병목현상이 발생함에 따라 네트워크를 공유하는 클러스터 전체의 성능감소로 이어진다. 특히 작은 데이터 처리를 지속적으로 요청하는 스마트 홈 디바이스에서 지연율이 더 크게 나타난다. 이에 본 논문에서는 동시간에 빈번한 요청이 발생하는 스마트 홈 환경에서 효과적인 데이터 처리를 위한 기계학습 기반 캐싱 시스템을 설계하였다.

  • In this paper, we developed the GML Map Server which visualized the map based on GML as international standard for exchanging the common format map and for interoperability of GIS information. And also, it should transmit effectively GML map into the mobile device by using dynamic map partition and caching. It manages a partition based on the visualization area of a mobile device in order to visualize the map to a mobile device in real time, and transmits the partition area by serializing it for the benefit of transmission. Also, the received partition area is compounded in a mobile device and is visualized by being partitioned again as four visible areas based on the display of a mobile device. Then, the area is managed by applying a caching algorithm in consideration of repetitiveness for a received map for the efficient operation of resources. Also, in order to prevent the delay in transmission time as regards the instance density area of the map, an adaptive map partition mechanism is proposed for maintaining the regularity of transmission time. GML Map Server can trace the position of mobile device with WIPI environment in this paper. The field emulator can be created mobile devices and mobile devices be moved and traced it's position instead of real-world. And we developed POIM(POI Management) for management hierarchically POI information and for the efficiency POI search by using the individual tagging technology with visual interface.

  • NAND flash memory has been widely used as a storage medium in mobile devices, PCs, and workstations due to its advantages such as low power consumption, high performance, and random accessability compared to a hard disk drive. However, NAND flash cannot support in-place update so that it is mandatory to erase the entire block before overwriting the corresponding page. In order to overcome this drawback, flash storages need a software support, named Flash Translation Layer. However, as the high performance mass NAND flash memory is getting widely used, the size of mapping tables is increasing more than the limited DRAM size. In this paper, we propose an adaptive mapping information caching algorithm based on page mapping to solve this DRAM space shortage problem. Our algorithm uses a mapping information caching scheme which minimize the flash memory access frequency based on the analysis of several workloads. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can increase the performance by up to 70% comparing with the previous mapping information caching algorithm.

A Study on Mobility-Aware Edge Caching and User Association Algorithm (이동성 기반의 엣지 캐싱 및 사용자 연결 알고리즘 연구)

  • Mobile Edge Computing(MEC) is considered as a promising technology to effectively support the explosively increasing traffic demands. It can provide low-latency services and reduce network traffic by caching contents at the edge of networks such as Base Station(BS). Although users may associate with the nearest BSs, it is more beneficial to associate users to the BS where the requested content is cached to reduce content download latency. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a mobility-aware joint caching and user association algorithm to imporve the cache hit ratio. In particular, the proposed algorithm performs caching and user association based on sojourn time and content preferences. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme improves the performance in terms of cache hit ratio and latency as compared with existing schemes.

  • 본 논문에서는 웹툰 플랫폼 서비스를 위한 모바일 엣지 컴퓨팅의 구조를 제안한다. 웹툰과 같이 모바일 디바이스에서 실행되는 데이터들을 클라우드 서버로 오프로드하거나 원격 서버로부터 필요한 응용프로그램들을 다운로드 받지 않고, 모바일과 가까운 곳에 캐싱 콘텐츠를 전개함으로써 전송 지연없는 서비스를 보장받으며, 데이터가 발생한 근접 지역에서 데이터 분석 및 처리가 가능하므로 딥러닝을 적용한 새로운 서비스 카테고리로 확장할 수 있음을 제시한다.

  • The wireless mesh network based on IEEE 802.11s provides a routing based on a destination address as it inherits legacy internet architecture. However, this architecture interested in not 'what' which is originally the users goal but 'where'. Futhermore, because of the rapid increase of the number of mobile devices recently, the mobile traffic increases geometrically. It reduces the network effectiveness as increasing many packets which have same payload in the situation of many users access to the same contents. In this paper, we propose an OpenFlow-based contents routing for the wireless mesh network(WMN) to solve this problem. We implement contents layer to the legacy network layer which mesh network uses and the routing technique based on contents identifier for efficient contents routing. In addition we provide flexibility as we use OpenFlow. By using this, we implement caching technique to improve effectiveness of network as decreasing the packet which has same payload in WSN. We measure the network usage to compare the flooding technique, we measure the delay to compare environment using caching and non caching. As a result of delay measure it shows 20% of performance improve, and controller message decrease maximum 89%.
