A Study on the Relationship between the Evaluation of Morality on the Korean Drama Characters and the Drama Enjoyment and Quality Evaluation by Foreign Audience (외국 시청자들의 한국 드라마 등장인물에 대한 도덕성 평가와 드라마 '흥미도'와 '질 평가'와의 관계 분석)

  • In this study, we examined how the United States, Chinese, and Japanese viewers perceive the morality of the main characters in the family drama 'Take Care of Mom' and the influence of the perceived morality has on drama enjoyment and quality evaluation. Results show that the viewers from all three countries evaluated 'Hoonjae' favorably and evaluated selfish older brother, 'Hyung Kyu', unfavorably. This means there are common norms that exist in all three countries for judging the good and evil in a drama. However, the main female characters that played opposing characteristics were evaluated differently from all three countries. This is because the relationship between parents and children, and the role of mother and woman were perceived differently from each country. These results support the argument that consumption of drama may differ by viewer's cultural background. Additionally, the research hypothesis that 'moral evaluation of major characters will influence the drama enjoyment and evaluation of the drama quality' was not supported in China and Japan, and was only supported by the U.S. viewers.

The effect of Chinese online novel dramas on the attitude of merchandise and behavioral intention (중국 웹소설드라마의 파생상품 수용태도 및 행동의도 분석)

  • This research aims to understand the common psychological features of consumer. And master the direction of the development of the network novels derivation by analysis the TV plays adapted from network novels in China's IP industry. To this end, This research determine to analyzed consumer adoption attitude the Behavior Intention of derivative products. The date were collected from 612 Chinese people, from October 15 to October 22 2018. Statistical analysis were through SPSS 21 after data coding and data cleanings process. This research performed frequency analysis exploratory factor analysis, Independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, post-analysis Duncan test, correlation analysis and mass regression analysis. The research results are as follows. Firstly, the characteristics(topicality, empathy and interest) of network novel TV play positively related role in the adoption attitudes(cognitive attitude and emotional attitude) of derivatives commodities. At the same time, identity has a more positively related influence than topicality and interest. Secondly, all the characteristics of network novels consisting of topicality, identity and interest play positive related roles in the behavioral intentions of derivative commodities. Thirdly, emotional attitude plays a more positively related role in purchasing intention and recommendation intention compared with cognitive attitude. It is hoped that the research results can play a fundamental role in the production and development of network novels derivatives.

An Appraisal of Drama 'KAIST' As an Informal Science Learning (비정규 과학학습으로 본 드라마 '카이스트' 평가)

  • KAIST' is the TV drama which has portrayed modem science & technology and the life of scientists & engineers for about one and half year. The purpose of this study is to appraise the drama 'KAIST' as an informal science learning. Using the interesting materials such as soccer robots, computer systems and satellites, the drama arouse students' interest and frequent watching. In general, the drama 'KAIST', as a source for informal science learning, played a positive role: it showed the image of scientists who have humane and sociable character being different from the students' image of real scientists, and changed positively the students' science-technology related attitudes, especially the attitudes towards scientists/engineers, science/technology, and the social nature of science/technology. Teachers commented that the drama 'KAIST' might arose students' interest in science, but the made-up contents and the genius-like characters could cause negative educational effects.

  • 시청자의 개입에 따라 내용이 변하는 영상은 영상산업 및 컴퓨터 그래픽스 분야에서 대중들의 새로운 흥미를 불러일으킨다. 그러나, 그러한 영상을 생성하는 시스템을 만드는 일은 제한된 개수의 영상으로 다양하면서 온전한 영상의 변화를 만들어야 하고, 사용자에게 그 변화를 조정하는 권한을 주어야 하기 때문에 어려운 일이다. 본 논문에서는 이 문제를 해결하는 한 방법으로 개별적인 실사 촬영물을 이용하여 인터랙티브 드라마를 생성하는 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 개별적인 영상 알갱이들을 부드럽게 연결하여, 다양한 줄거리와 완결된 구조를 갖춘 드라마를 생성한다. 또한, 사용자는 생성된 드라마의 내용, 길이, 장르, 등장인물을 원하는 대로 바꿀 수 있다. 이러한 시스템을 만들기 위하여 씬(scene)을 새로운 방법으로 모델링 하였고, 씬들을 적절히 선택하여 연결하기 위한 방법으로 씬 그래프(scene graph)를 제안한다. 최종 영상과 사용자와의 상호 작용을 위해서는 비젼, 모션, 그리고 스케치 기반 인터페이스를 제시한다. 끝으로 설문 조사를 통해 이 시스템의 유용성을 평가한다.

  • This study examines the strategy of delivering the drama's poet Kim Soo-young and his literary works to the public through the drama (2004). This drama shows Kim's inner self and his literary view by inserting poems into scenes where the poet suffers internal conflict, while presenting relatively less well-known poems to broaden the public's understanding of poetry. In addition, the drama maintains viewers' interest by properly placing elements of conflict, and effectively shows how the conflict affected his life and the world of time. Therefore, the drama is a meaningful text that embodies a poet named Kim Soo-young in three dimensions along with the historical transformation and social problems of the time and the literary chapter of the time through the video.

A Study on the Uses and Gratifications on the U.S. TV Dramas: Focusing on Comparison to the Korean Counterparts (대학생들의 미국 텔레비전 드라마에 대한 시청동기 및 만족도 연구: 한국 텔레비전 드라마와의 비교를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the uses and gratifications of the U. S. TV dramas favored by the Korean college students. The uses and gratifications of the U. S. TV dramas are also compared with the Korean TV dramas. In addition, this study analyzes how the motives and satisfactions of students on the U. S. dramas influence on watching patterns of the Korean TV dramas. The results of the factor analysis show that student's motives on watching the U. S. TV dramas are composed of four factors, such as 'Entertainment/Relaxation', 'Getting Information', 'Environment/Companionship', and 'Sexual curiosity'. In contrast, the motives of watching Korean TV dramas are composed of six factors, which are added 'Korean Drama Characteristics' and 'Habitual Time-Spending' to four factors of the U. S. dramas. After dividing the student groups with the heavy and the light watchers, this research shows that three out of five for the U. S. dramas are significantly different, whereas two out of six factors for the Korean counterparts. Finally, the uses and gratifications of the U. S. dramas favored by the Korean college students influence little on the watching patterns of the Korean TV dramas.

  • The main purpose of this study is to reveal the educational value of the Chinese drama and present a concrete and feasible Chinese speaking teaching-learning programme targeted at intermediate level Chinese learners through storytelling and role-play. There is some advice for Chinese speaking teaching-learning by using Chinese dramas. Firstly, applying various techniques actively such as storytelling and role play, not only could it help to correct Chinese speaking pronunciation, but it could also help students to make up and express their ideas as free as possible. Secondly, it's necessary to accord with the teaching objectives of Chinese speaking, students' actual level and requirements to select Chinese dramas as Chinese speaking teaching-learning materials. Thirdly, it's noteworthy that teachers should select Chinese dramas with various genres or theme according to social development to promote the fun of class and maximize the educational value of Chinese dramas as teaching-learning materials.

  • If teachers should showed geomorphological landscape images familiar to students during geomorphology unit teaching in secondary geography education, it will have more effects on teaching. In this paper, we analyze whether teaching of geomorphology unit using media(movie, drama, entertainment program) background images familiar to students have an effect on understanding of teaching facts and interesting or not. Firstly, teaching using media data is effective in understanding of teaching facts and the results of examination taken after teaching improved. Secondly, teaching using media data is effective in interesting and understanding on geomorphological landscapes. Most students recognized this teaching method to be new and became to be interested in learning geomorphology unit, and answered that it was helpful to understand geomorphology unit.

A Bible Didactical Approach to Bibliodrama on the Metaverse Platforms (메타버스 플랫폼을 통한 비블리오드라마 구현에 대한 성서 교수학적 접근)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the implementation of Bibliodrama on the metaverse platforms. In other words, to create interesting and effective Bible education for modern learners, this study took a didactical approach to the implementation of Bibliodrama through the metaverse. The main reason to be enthusiastic about using the metaverse for education is because users, who have been only content consumers, now able to experience and create values. As a Bible didactical approach, Bibliodrama is a an emphatical and communicative learning method in the form of role play. Bibliodrama seeks to interact with the world of the learner and the world of the Bible through improvisational acting, to study the Bible. Through the Bible didactical approach, the meeting of Bibliodrama and the metaverse can have a positive effect on modern learners, in terms of improving learning environment and, above all else, increasing learning interest. In terms of biblical didactics, implementing Bibliodrama in the metaverse has the following advantages. First, it helps to construct a dramatic situation and environment so that the meaning of the biblical text can be proved relevant to today's learners, not something belonging to the past. Second, in the metaverse, the historical space and characters of the Bible can be realized in virtual reality to produce a 'situational play'. Demonstrating freedom, imagination and creativity in the metaverse learners play in Bibliodrama. This way they also become aware of the hidden meaning of the blank pages in the Bible. Third, the metaverse environment is not static but dynamic and interactive; Bibliodrama pursues an interpretation that harmonizes spirit and body. Therefore, through the dynamic activities of discovering the meaning and significance of the Bible, it is possible to form a holistic faith in which spirit and body act as one.

Dramatic Plotting by Characterization - Based on Exercises for 'Screenwriting' with the Case Study of The Third Man (캐릭터 창조에 의한 드라마 플롯 구축 : <제3의 사나이> 사례 분석을 통한 '시나리오 작법' 실습을 기반으로)

  • In strong dramas, pot, character, and theme, three basic elements in dramatic structure, are effectively integrated forwards the same dramatic idea. Plot might be considered as the most important element to combine events and character. However, at some point of the script, the writer becomes less interested in the mechanics of the plot, and the characters take over, because audiences remember the characters or the situations more clearly than the plot. Therefore, the workshop of dramatic structure would be successful when it starts from excogitating the character and the situation, by improvising 'voices' of characters, building 'back story', and reconstructing 'outline from the antagonist's view'. With these exercises, the writer and the director understand the mechanics of dramatic plotting by characterization, which include the choice of the protagonist, and the description of plausible actions and the theme, and they consequentially find the way to obtain solidity and plausibility in the scenes.
