  • Speech enhancement techniques that remove surrounding noise are stressed to preprocessor of speech recognition. Among the various speech enhancement techniques, Codebook-based Speech Enhancement (CBSE) operates efficiently in non-stationary noise environments. But, CBSE has some problems that inaccurate gains can be estimated if mismatch occur between input noisy signal and trained speech/noise codevectors. In this paper, the Normalized Weighting Factor (NWF) is calculated by long-term noise estimation algorithm based on Signal-to-Noise Ratio, compensated to the conventional inaccurate gains. The proposed CBSE shows better performance than conventional CBSE.

  • The radiation characteristics of the conical corrugated feed horn are analyzed by the Gaussian beam mode theory. the electric field over the aperture can be expanded in terms of a set of Gaussian-Laguerre modes. It is proved that these modes are the solutions of the wave epuations for the paraxial approximation. A method, using the sum of the mode expansion coefficients instead of calculation only the fundamental mode, is presented in order to reduce the radiation pattern error. For illustrative examples, the radiation patterns of the corrugated horn antenna operting over C, Ku, and mm-wave band are calculated. Our results agree well with the results obtained by the vector potential method over each band, and also agree well with the measured value at 6.175GHz.

  • This paper presents the design and implementation of a new multimedia fixed-point DSP (MDSP) core for portable multimedia applications. The MDSP instruction set is designed through the analysis of multimedia algorithms and DSP instruction sets. The MDSP architecture employs parallel processing techniques, such as SIMD and vector processing as well as DSP techniques. The instruction set can handle various data formats and MDSP can perform two MAC operations in parallel. The switching network and packing network can increase the performance by overlapping data rearrangement cycles with computation cycles. We have designed Verilog HDL models and the 0.6 $\mu\textrm{m}$ Samsung KG75000 SOG library is used. The total gate count is 68,831 and the clock frequency is 30 MHz.

  • In this paper, a maximum output power control of stand-alone cage-type induction generator systems for wind power generation is proposed. The induction generator is operated in a vector-controlled mode, which is excited with d-axis current and of which torque is controlled with q-axis current. The generator speed is controlled by this torque, along which speed the generator produces the maximum output power. The generated power charges the battery bank for energy storage through an ac/dc PWM converter. The proposed scheme has been verified for the wind turbine simulator system which consists of M-G set.

  • This paper proposes a variable speed control scheme of grid-connected wind power generation systems using cage-type induction generators. The induction generator is operated in indirect vector control mode, where the d-axis current controls the excitation level and the q-axis current controls the generator torque, by which the speed of the induction generator is controlled according to the variation of the wind speed In order to produce the maximum output power. The generated power flows into the utility grid through the back-to-back PWM converter. The line-side converter controls the dc link voltage by the q-axis current control and can control the line-side power factor by the d-axis current control. Experimental results are shown to verify the validity of the proposed scheme.

  • IEEE developing WAVE specifications are able to support V2V and V2I wireless communications, and these functionalities can be used to enhance vehicle operational safety. To overcome any security weaknesses that are inherent in wireless communications, WAVE specification should support message encryption and authentication functions. In this study, we have implemented WAVE security algorithms in IEEE P1609.2 with openssl library and C language. We have verified the normal operation of implemented software, using the test vectors of related specifications, and measured their performance. Our software is platform independent, and can be used for the full implementation of WAVE specification.

  • Markerless augmented reality system must have the capability to recognize and match natural objects both in indoor and outdoor environment. In this paper, a novel approach is proposed for extracting features and recognizing natural objects using visual descriptors and codebooks. Since the augmented reality applications are sensitive to speed of operation and real time performance, our work mainly focused on recognition of multi-class natural objects and reduce the computing time for classification and feature extraction. SIFT(scale invariant feature transforms) and SURF(speeded up robust feature) are used to extract features from natural objects during training and testing, and their performance is compared. Then we form visual codebook from the high dimensional feature vectors using clustering algorithm and recognize the objects using naive Bayes classifier.

  • At the mobile unit for adaptation the propagation environment, it is necessity to adapt very fast the weight coefficient vector of adaptive array antenna In this paper, for the BPSK and BFSK signals with S/I=2, S/N=10 subband adaptive array signal processing method to the linear array antenna using the LMS & the Kalman filter algorithm is proposed. For the 4 elements equidistance linear array antenna systems LMS and Kalman algorithms with subband adaptive instruction principles using the subband signal processing method are adopted and the computer simulation results to the constant amplitude envelope signals such as BPSK or BFSK can be seen that the convergence characteristics of directional patterns and the signal following characteristics are more fast and stable.

  • This paper presents the Genetic Algorithm based Task Scheduling (GATS) method for the scheduling of programs with diverse embedded parallelism types in Distributed Parallel Systems, which consist of a set of loosely coupled parallel and vector machines connected via high speed networks The distributed parallel processing tries to solve computationally intensive problems that have several types of parallelism, on a suite of high performance and parallel machines in a manner that best utilizes the capabilities of each machine. When scheduling in distributed parallel systems, the matching of the parallelism characteristics between tasks and parallel machines rather than load balancing should be carefully handled with the minimization of communication cost in order to obtain more speedup. This paper proposes the based initialization methods for an initial population and the knowledge-based mutation methods to accommodate the parallelism type matching in genetic algorithms.

  • In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient camera operating scheme to save energy which can be used for mass surveillance cameras. This technique determines how many cameras should be turned on in the consideration of the velocity vector of monitoring targets, which is acquired by DSRC object tracking, the model of the specification of installed cameras, and the road model of installed sites. Also, we address other techniques used to save energy for the surveillance system as well. Throughout performance evaluation, we demonstrate the excellence of our proposed scheme compared with previous approaches.
