Using a directional antenna, the Doppler effect of satellites can be detected and the orbital elements can be obtained by the Extended Kalman Filter with the observed frequency shift data. We obtained the orbital elements of NOAA-11 by the application of the Extended Kalman Filter type algorithm to the Doppler shift data of NOAA-11d and discussed the accuracy and the credibility of this algorithm.
This paper presents the Doppler Scanning technique which enables us to detect the relative positions of moving distributed sources using Doppler frequency shift estimate when the moving source consists of distributed sources with different signature frequencies. Doppler frequency shifts of characteristic frequencies of machinery noise sources such as ship's generator and propeller, with tine along CPA (Closest Point of Approach of moving source) are unique, and can be functioned with respect to each source position. Therefore, this technique can be applied to estimate the relative geometrical positions between machinery noise sources. The Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) which has a high frequency resolution with high time resolution, is adopted for improving accuracy of Doppler frequency shift estimate geometric resolution of machinery positions since machinery noise sources show in general low frequency band characteristics with limited spacial distance. The performance of the technique is examined by the numerical simulations and is verified by the experiment using loudspeaker sources on the roof of the car.

Basically, an ultrasonic imaging system has two fundamental imaging modes available. One is the B-mode imaging modality which provides an image of reflection coefficient, and the other is the Doppler color flow mode that maps blood flow inside the human heart and blood vessels. This paper presents a new method of detecting and compensating for aliasing that occurs when the Doppler frequency exceeds one-half of the pulse-repetition frequency (PRF). Its validity is shown by computer simulation. The new method not only extends the measurable Doppler frequency, but also helps to reduce the effect of noise. The results show that the aliasing can be compensated for correctly fur signal-to-noise ratios down to 20 dB.
Acute flank pain from urolithiasis is the most common condition in people visiting emergency rooms. This study is to evaluate the usefulness of color Doppler in detecting ureteral stones in patients without hydronephrosis. We performed ultrasonography and retrospective analysis on 161 patients who were suspected of urinary stones through plain radiography of the kidney, ureter, and bladder examination or urine tests that showed positive signs of hematuria. In ultrasonography, a total of 154 (95.6%) cases from the 161 patients were diagnosed with ureteral stones. In color Doppler, ureteral stones with twinkling artifact (TA) in the absence of hydronephrosis was shown in 18 (85.7%) cases of the 21 patients(p<0.001). The use of color Doppler has a high diagnostic efficacy for the detection of indistinguishable stones, non-dilatational ureteral stones, and middle ureter stones.

One of the principal disadvantages of multicarrier modulation technique is the sensitivity to the frequency offset introduced by Doppler shift. This frequency offset introduces inter-carrier interference (ICI) among the multiplicity of carriers in the multicarrier modulated signal. However, Doppler spread induced by temporal channel variations can Provide another means for diversity. In this paper, we propose a modified multicarrier code division multiple access (CDMA) system to exploit Doppler diversity as well as multipath diversity. The key work of our framework is a canonical time-frequency-based decomposition of the mobile wireless channel into series of independent fading channel. The decomposition naturally leads to a time-frequency generalization of the Rake receiver that exploits both multipath and Doppler diversity.

The performance of the CT-TDLAS (computed tomography-tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy) is strongly dependent upon the line broadening functions. The line of the laser beam used in the TDLAS is scattered by the natural broadening, the collisional broadening and the doppler broadening. The influence of the natural broadening to the experimental spectra obtained in the TDLAS is negligible. The influences of the collisional broadening and the doppler broadening to the experimental spectra are relatively large, in high pressure gas flows and in high temperature low pressure gas flows, respectively. In this study, optimal coefficients are proposed for the doppler broadening function by using the experimental data obtained in a flat burner test. The optimal coefficients were ${\gamma}_j=0.16$ and n=0.37. Using these coefficients, the temperature and concentration distributions at the engine exhaust gas pipe have been calculated showing their validities.

In this paper, the LEO system signal degradation is mainly due to fading and doppler shift, so that the analysis of the signal degradation and compensation techniques are very important. This paper propose a Kalman filter based two step Automatic Frequency Control(AFC) to combat large and time variant frequency offset in low earth orbit satellite communication systems. The proposed Kalman AFC method estimates a frequency offset in two steps, I. e., coarse and fine estimations, extending the frequency acquisition range to even for than the symbol rate. Furthermore, it can track well a time variation of frequency offset. It is shown that the proposed compensator is able to compensate for doppler shift more than several KHz.

The infuluence of Doppler effects on the tracking performance of a noncoherent second-order delay locked loop (DLL) operating on a data modulated signal is investigated. For the perfoermance analysis we consider the tracking accuracy (steady state error and jitter) of the linear DLL and the reliability of the nonlinear loop. The nonlinear analysis concerning the loop reliability makes use of an asympototic expansion for the MTLL(mean time to lose lock) which has been derived by applying the singular perturbation method. In particular, we give optimal loop parameters and the optimal bandwidth of the bandpass filter in the loop arms to achieve a maximum MTLL. Since Doppler effects can be producesd comparatively in LEO system, we can espect the more reliable DLL loop design. by using the results of the circuit simulation, the delay lock loop is synthesized in FPGA, and verified to get the GPS data from the STR-2770 GPS simulator system. So, the synthesized logic circuit is shown be accurately performed.

In recent SONAR (sound navigation and ranging) systems, wideband active SONAR systems has received more attention than narrowband SONAR systems due to the remarkable detection performance in terms of range resolution. However, the wideband SONAR systems usually requires a huge amount of computational burden in order to achieve their own superiority. To cope with this drawback of the wideband SONAR systems, this paper proposes a fast target detection and velocity estimation method using an extended replica in wideband hyperbolic frequency modulation active SONAR system. Computer simulation shows that the proposed method can be implemented by a highly reduced computational complexity with a little performance degradation in target detection and velocity estimation compared to the conventional filter bank method.
