Efficient Scheduling of Sensor-based Elevator Systems in Smart Buildings (스마트 빌딩을 위한 센서 기반의 효율적인 엘리베이터 스케줄링)

  • In a modern smart building, sensors can detect various physical conditions, such as temperature, humidity, sound, motion, and light, which can be used in medical services and security, and for energy savings. This paper presents an efficient elevator scheduling system that utilizes smart sensor technologies with radio-frequency identification, video, and floor sensors to detect the arrival of elevator users in advance. The detected information is then delivered to the elevator scheduling system via building networks. By using this information, the proposed system makes a reservation call for efficient control of the elevator's direction and time. Experiments under a spectrum of traffic conditions show that the proposed system performs better than a legacy system with respect to average wait time, maximum wait time, and energy consumption.

  • The information transfer between the ground facilities and the ground facilities and exchange are necessary for an aircraft and ground facilities so that it is safe, it is economic, an aircraft tan operate an aircraft to the high efficiency until it arrives at the destination location from the stand-by for the fly. Presently, by using the AFTN which is closed network, a communication is made. However, by applying the leading edge communication technology, the aeronautical telecommunication network of the next generation is constructed and it is planning to be managed. Due to this, the ground facilities connected to the foreign network has the security vulnerability by an attack. Therefore, the vulnerability analysis for the safe operational environment build-up at the aeronautical telecommunication network and sorority requirement research are needed.

  • This study figures out the concepts of container transport, logistical cost and the distribution of a company through studying documents, and to suggest logistical cost reduction approach, focused on the efficiency of transport which occupied the considerable portion of the total logistical cost of the company. We analyze and discuss the container loading of multiple items for multiple places of departure and arrival through a case study on S company in South Korea. We suggest a direction to reduce the logistical cost of the companies, analyzing the conditions of multiple items loading, and rule-based systems including an algorithm which determines container-loading for minimum freight expenses. We use data mining and OLAP tools of MS Analysis Services to produce loading rules for multiple items loading and generate OLAP cube and decision trees to validate the rules.

  • This paper proposes association algorithm using load balancing for efficient AP selection under environment of wireless local area network(WLAN). Our scheme measures arrival time of association information when establishing the connection between access points and access terminal, analyzes the load condition of AP, and applies load balancing. AT selects and sets up low traffic AP by measuring traffic of connected access terminal, which can prevent over-franc of access points under hotspot environment that users access simultaneously. According to the above-described selection in a high speed wireless Internet service based on public WLAN technologies that are currently in operations. Further, it is possible to improve the efficiency of network management.

  • 멀티미디어 서비스환경에서는 수백에서 수천의 클라이언트들이 하나의 서버에 접속되기 때문에 서버 결합이 미치는 영향이 상당히 크다. 이러한 결함은 단지 서버 자체의 장애로 끝나는 것이 아니라 그로 인해 서비스 제공자들에게 유형.무형의 막대한 재산상의 피해를 가져올수 있다. 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 서버를 구성하고 있는 자원(프로세서, 디스크, 네트워크)의 결함 발생을 고려한 큐잉 네트워크 모델을 개발하였다. 복수개의 M/M/1 큐를 큐잉 네트워크로 연결하여, 각 자원에 대한 접근 및 서비스를 모델링하였으며, 각 자원에서의 서비스 시간 지연 비율(큐의 응답시간)의 조정을 통해서, 서버 자원의 결함 발생을 고려하였다. 고객 도착률과 자원 고장률 변동에 대한 서버 자원의 이용률과 큐의 길이를 구하여 효율적인 시스템 구성 자원의 부분별 용량을 산정하였으며 , 또한 데이터 패킷 응답 시간 분포 및 고장률 변화에 따른 시스템의 신뢰도 수준을 계산하였다. 이와 같은 서비스 시스템 성능에 관련된 파라미터 분석을 통하여 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스 수준 (Quality of Service)에 중요한 영향을 미치는 서버 설계 요소를 파악하였고, 시뮬레이터 패키지를 활용한 모의 실험을 통하여 개발된 큐잉 네트워크 모델의 정확성을 검증하였다.

Efficient Congestion Detection and Control Algorithm based on Threshold for Wireless Sensor Network (무선 센서 네트워크를 위한 임계치 기반 효율적인 혼잡 탐지 및 제어 알고리즘)

  • This paper reports a new mechanism for congestion controls. The proposed congestion detection algorithm can be provided with delay and unnecessary energy consumption. Conventional congestion control methods decide congestion by queue occupancy or mean packet arrival rate of MAC layer only, however, our method can perform precise detection by considering queue occupancy and mean packet arrival rate. In addition, the congestion avoiding method according to congestion degree and scheduling method using priority for real time packets are proposed. Finally, simulation results show that proposed congestion detection and control methods outperforms conventional scheduling schemes for wireless sensor network.

  • A study on smart seats for railroad vehicles was conducted using piezoelectric (PZT) sensors. For this purpose, the concept of passenger friendly smart seats was defined, and a PZT sensor was selected as the optimum sensor based on this concept. Using PZT sensors, simulation tests were performed using a sub-scale model railroad vehicle. In these tests, the main functions of the smart seats were extracted and simplified to improve the effectiveness of the simulation tests. Based on the test results, the system for smart seats proposed in this paper was successfully verified using PZT sensors and the dedicated operation software for the system. This paper will contribute to the improvement of services in high-speed rail systems through advances in ticket checking tasks.

The Effect of Advice Information for Arriving Aircraft Landing Order on Air Traffic Controller's Work Efficiency (도착항공기 착륙순서에 관한 조언정보가 관제사 업무효율에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper describes the effect of advice information for arriving aircraft landing order on the air traffic controller's work efficiency. The air traffic control simulator used in the experiment was modeled on the basis of the aircraft parameters from BADA, gamma-command model and the 4-dimensional trajectory using the Bezier curve. The simulation results show that advice information was helpful for the performance of the work for users who did not have the air traffic control training. On the other hand, in case of users who have experience in air traffic control training, the work efficiency was lowered when the advisory information that does not reflect the user's intention is provided. Therefore, it can be seen that the effect of improving the work efficiency through advice information can be limited depending on the skill level of the air traffic controllers and the complexity of the air traffic situation.

A Study on Efficient Cut-off Point between Hot and Cold Items for Data Broadcast Scheduling (데이터 방송 스케줄링에서 핫아이템과 콜드아이템의 분리를 위한 효율적인 컷오프 포인트에 관한 연구)

  • Collecting statistics from client requests, the broadcast server partitions data items into hot and cold-item sets with the optimal cut-off point. Hot items are broadcast periodically with periods based on their access probabilities. In a time slot with no hot items scheduled, the server broadcasts a proper cold item considering the waiting time and the number of outstanding requests. We analyze the optimal the cut-off point by calculating average response time as a function of the cut-off point. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm outperforms existing methods in various circumstances.

  • In homogeneous multiprocessor systems, the task allocation algorithm which equally assigns tasks to processors if possible is generally used. But this algorithm is not suitable to accomplish to accomplish effective task allocation in heterogeneous multiprocessor systems. JSQ (Join the Shortest Queue) algorithm is often used in heterogeneous multiprocessor systems. Unfortunately, JSQ algorithm is not efficient when the differences of capabilities of processors are far large. To solve this problem, we suggest a heuristic task allocation algorithm that makes use of dynamic information such as task arrival time, task service time, and number of finished tasks. The results of simulation show that the proposed heuristic allocation algorithm improves the system performance.
