Plan for Building a Brand Power of Dutyfree Shop and Identity Design Development - Focused on the SKM Dutyfree Shop at Samsung-dong, Seoul - (면세점의 브랜드파워 구축 방안과 아이덴티티디자인 개발 - 서울 삼성동의 SKM 면세점을 중심으로 -)

  • Despite the SKM Duyree shop's potentials, such as residing over the Samsung-dong, gangnam-gu one of the premier locations in Seoul, and offering a large shopping store, the old 'SKM Dutyfree' symbol [image #2] has become the burden for a company due to its low-profile brand quality and lack of location advertisements. Therefore, first, we have agreed to acquire the popular brand word 'COEX' and replace "SKM Dutyfree" to "COEX Dutyfree", and second, the new visual image has been created in order to create a synergy of the urban-look and the location-information. Therefore, the visual identity design concepts have been utilized in order to achieve such goals; first, promote the existing COEX-image and metropolitan-esque image. Second, unify the international-metropolitan looks of the COEX-mall, hotel, shopping center, exhibition, and airport terminal with location information. Third, deliver the new identity-design [image #1] of the fresh look(compare to competing dutyfree shops) and dynamic images.

  • Busan still has a lot of densely populated poor residences on sloping hills, especially in the area behind the port, which is heavily affected by plans related to port facilities. In particular, the residential area of Dong-gu, Busan, is expected to see the Bukhang Redevelopment Area, and the landscape change is expected to be significant where the residential environment improvement project is currently planned. In this study, the landscape image analysis and prediction (SD analysis and factor analysis) of the poor residential area of Dong-gu, Busan is expected to be able to organize, organize the image of the area.

  • Photography has been a way of recording a range of images throughout the previous 160 years since its birth in 1839. It has also included the observations and records on the subjects, which is almost same as reality in its outward appearance, various looks of a city and architecture in the daily lives at these places. These pictures provide archaeological and geographical information beyond time and space as well as expressing cultural and artistic images using the creative senses. This thesis analyzes the images of a city and architecture as various angles along with development process of the photograph. The purpose is to examine what viewpoints, methods and concepts have been used to observe the city and architecture. The study will show that photography is a means of artistic expression and a means of indirect understanding of a city and its architecture by early modern photography of the 19th Century.

A Plan of Graffiti Utilization as Convergence Design on Urban Cultural Contents (그라피티(Graffiti)를 활용한 도시 문화콘텐츠 융합 디자인 방안)

  • This study discusses on the city-culture contents convergence design strategy which can be linked to the identity of the city through applying the graffiti on old-town of Dongducheon. First, the background and cultural asset of Dongducheon were researched. Second, the places revealing the identities were investigated. Third, the interviews with the college students in the city were performed. As the result, we found that using graffiti gains positive reaction as the reinforcement factor for the city identification. The exotic image made up by US military presence is evaluated as an important factor for the city identification. The Rock Festival is a representative cultural event derived by the cultural influence from the US military and is one of the crucial elements for the city identification. In this study, graffiti was proposed as the visual expression which can be harmonized with this culture and be reinforced for the city identity. Results of the study concludes with the strategy for the application of graffiti with the expectation for the improvement of city image of Dongducheon through the change of identity, urban regeneration, and making of pollution-free culture.

A Study on Relationship among Recognized by Tourism Gentrification and Urban Image (지역거주민의 지각하는 관광 젠트리피케이션과 도시이미지간의 관계 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between physical factors, economic factors, and cultural factors of tourism gentrification (TG) in urban areas. Based on the results of an empirical analysis, we provide the basic theory and practical implications of the relationship between tourism phenomena and city image. This study used a questionnaire for residents of the Jeju area. From September 1, 2018, to October 3, 2018, the survey was conducted in Nuemori Street, Yeongdong Street, Gucheong Eup, and Moon Town. Thus, we use 479 samples for analysis out of 500 samples obtained. This study produced two important results. First, the physical, economic, and cultural factors of tourism gentrification have significant effects on cognitive image and emotional image. Second, economic factors have statistical significance in cognitive image and emotional image. These results and implications can be useful for practical implications of the theoretical implications of tourism gentrification and regional specialization promotion policies. In addition, from the economic point of view, what should be considered is that development-centered area development can have a negative impact on urban image. Despite these research results, there are limitations in the research, such as cross-sectional studies and short-term studies, and we look forward to a longitudinal study in the future from a long-term perspective.

  • In the world, the flow of globalization are causing that many cities in the world are trying to enhance city awareness and city image through the establishment of their identity. Seoul has also preceded various studies in order to establish its identity of the urban landscape in this flow. But, most of studies have only considered some of the problems of the urban landscape and its improvement. Therefore, a study to understand the current built urban landscape and its own identity has not been studied yet. In this study, we propose an analyzing and visualizing framework of the urban landscape through an internet survey using the compare contents based on the differences in Cognition and recognition. The core of the framework which analyses the differences in Cognitions and recognition about the urban landscape was performed by the correct and clear rate. In addition, it was extracted from the answers of the survey and the visualization, was performed by diagrams of accuracy rate that was derived from the correlation between the correct rate and the clear rate.

Luminous Characteristics of Urban Street Between Day and Night (도시가로의 주.야간 빛환경 특성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • 도시에서의 빛의 연출은 도시의 축을 부각시키고, 가로의 아이덴티티를 연출함으로서 도시의 인지도를 향상시킬 수 있다. 또한 야간의 경관은 인공조명을 이용한 빛의 연출로 주간과는 다른 빛환경 경관을 연출할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 도시 가로 중에서 상업가로와 주거가로를 대상으로 주 야간의 빛환경 특성을 분석하여, 가로의 용도에 따른 주야간의 빛환경 차이를 고찰하였다. 이를 위하여 두 가로의 일정길이에 대하여 수평면조도, 스칼라 조도, 휘도 및 색온도를 측정하였으며 측정결과를 용도별, 주 야별로 비교하여 분석하였다. 측정한 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. (1)수평면조도의 측정 결과, 주간의 주거가로에 비하여 상업가로가 28.8[%] 높게 나타났으며 야간의 경우 87.2[%] 높게 나타났다. (2) 스칼라조도의 측정결과, 스칼라조도의 특성상 전반적으로 균일한 분포를 보이며, 수평면 조도와 마찬가지로 주간에 비하여 야간에 84[%] 높은 값이 측정되었다. (3) 휘도의 측정 결과, 주간 배경에 대한 대상의 휘도비는 상업과 주거가로가 1:2이하로 나타나 조화로운 가로경관을 연출하며, 야간배경에 대한 대상의 휘도비는 상업가로는 1:17로 활기 있는 경관을 연출하고 주거가로는 1:5로 가로경관 이미지에 적당한 강조효과가 나타났다. (4) 색온도의 측정 결과, 주간의 배경은 맑은 하늘의 색온도를 나타냈으며 대상은 상쾌하고 활동적인 이미지의 색온도를 나타내었다. 또한 야간의 경우 상업가로와 주거가로 모두 나트륨 등의 영향을 받아 전반적으로 따뜻한 느낌의 색온도가 연출되었다.

  • 세계화는 각 도시들이 살아남기 위해 경쟁하지 않으면 안되도록 하였고, 이러한 담론 속에서 장소는 정말로 '상품화'되고, '소비'되며, '광고'될 뿐만 아니라 '판매'되는 대상으로 간주되었다. 새로운 도시성장전략으로서의 장소 마케팅이란 공공·민간 주체들이 기업가와 관광객 심지어 그 장소의 주민들에게 매력적인 곳이 되도록 하기 위해 주로 문화적인 전략을 통해서 지역의 이미지를 제고시키고 지역의 경제 활성화를 꾀하는 다양한 방식의 노력들이라고 할 수 있다. 고양시는 지역에 특화된 화훼산업을 기반으로 한 꽃 전시회라는 지역의 작은 행사를 '고양 세계 꽃 박람회'라는 장소 마케팅으로 발전시켰다. 이것은 지역 이미지 제고, 지역정체성과 시민단합에 매우 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 지역경제 활성화의 측면에서는 화훼업의 특성상 국내의 전반적인 경기침체와 같은 이상 변수로 직접적인 효과는 뚜렷이 나타나지 않았으나 장기적인 관점에서 경제적 효과가 커질 것으로 예상된다. 고양시의 사례 연구는 서구에서 발전한 장소 마케팅이 우리 나라에서도 적용될 수 있는 가능성을 보여주었다.

고양 종합운동장의 환경색채 디자인 개발 연구

  • There are various schemes to improve the environment of a rir in which we dwell. Among them environment color is one of formative elements that compose a city environment, the recognition about it is coming to be high gradually. A stabilized appropriate color of city environment gives a psychological social cultural effect to the people and also can be a useful method even in public information of city image, To give a citizen sensitive aesthetic and emotional satisfaction, a systematic rational design approach is necessary in an environment color plan. Hereupon, this study suggests one model of a concrete substantial color design through analyzing a present condition, for example, an existing environment, a case study about similar space, and a question investigation for finding out preference image and applying them to the color design. Through a rational systematic environment color design one can expect several effects making identity in a region, increasing a peculiar image or unity reinforcement by total application of color scheme, creating a visual environment with aesthetic characteristic, and efficiency of continuous color management system.
