A Study on the Management Improvement of an Academic Library Using Customer Relationship Management (CRM 기법을 이용한 대학도서관 경영개선에 관한 연구)

  • The user satisfaction and needs of an academic library were caught through a questionnaire survey in this study. The aim of this study is to draw up the CRM based plan for meeting user needs on the study. The users' demographic information, library resources & their use, homepage, services, and facilities/environment of the library were categorized in the questionnaire and analyzed for this study. The major conclusions of this study are: (1) The library resources use was the highest, and its facilities/environment was the lowest in the user satisfaction study. It also revealed that there are much necessities for the quick acquisition and dissemination of the requested material to the library users, and for the inter-library loan (ILL) services among campuses for the subscription books in the library resources use study, too; (2) There are a lot of necessities for the improvement of OPAC retrieval and the subscription books system, and menu rearrangement in the library homepage; (3) There are a lot of necessities for the plans of more frequent library event, more detailed event guidance, and more reinforcement of public relations such as SMS, push services of SDI etc. in the library user services; and (4) There are a lot of necessities for the improved policies to the complaints of library users such as the lack of common study place and lockers, air conditioning and heating problem, complaints about facilities management of restroom (lack of toilet paper), library accessibility on campus, unauthorized user management etc. in the facilities/environment of the library.

A Study on the Information Use Behavior of Social Science Researchers (사회과학 연구자의 정보이용행태에 관한 연구)

  • This study focuses on investigating and analyzing overall information use behavior of the social science researchers. questionnaires were sent to 150 researchers in three major libraries or research institutes in the area of the social sciences, Five hypotheses were tested on the basis of the assumption that there would exist unique characteristics in the information seeking behavior of social science researchers The findings of the study shows that social science researchers prefer monographs and journals: they tend to use current material: the first information source for their research activities is the cited references in the book or journal article : they are likely to delegate literature searching to the librarian, but they tend to conduct direct searching in online setting: in general, they react positively for the rapid change in information environment caused by recent development of information technology, It is emphasized that to design an efficient information system and provide an effective information service in the social science related library or information center, it is essential to consider the major characteristics and attributes of social science researchers in terms of their information use behavior.

  • This study seeks to develop a curriculum operating model for Korean Library and Information Science, based on investigations into LIS curricula at home and abroad. Standard courses that can be applied to this model were also proposed. This study comprehensively analyzed the contents of domestic and foreign curricula and surveyed current librarians in all types of library fields. As a result, this study proposed required courses, core courses, and elective courses. Six required LIS courses are: Introduction to Library and Information Science, Information Organization, Information Services, Library and Information Center Management, Information Retrieval, and Field Work. Six core LIS courses are: Classification & Cataloging Practice, Subject Information Resources, Collection Development, Digital Library, Introduction to Bibliography, and Introduction to Archive Management. Twenty selective LIS courses include: the General Library and Information Science area (Cultural History of Information, Information Society and Library, Library and Copyright, Research Methods in Library and Information Science), the Information Organization area (Metadata Fundamentals, KORMARC Practice), the Information Services area (Information Literacy Instruction, Reading Guidance, Information User Study), the Library and Information Center Management area (Library Management, including management for different kinds of libraries, Library Information Cooperator, Library Marketing, Non-book Material and Multimedia Management (Contents Management), the Information Science area (Database Management, including Web DB Management, Indexing and Abstracting, Introduction to Information Science, Understanding Information Science, Automated System of Library, Library Information Network), and the Archival Science area (Preservation Management).

A Development of a Web Based Supporting System for Writing Construction Project Specification (Web기반 공사시방서 작성 시스템 개발 방안)

  • The Korean government established a domestic specification system, and regulated that owner should produced construction project specifications, instead of special provisions, in design phase, January 1998. But in Korea the ability of construction engineers for construction project specification are insufficient. So the government had built up a database of standard specifications and developed a supporting system for writing construction project specification(SPECMAKE) in 1999. However, it is a PC base stand-alone system, so it is not convenient to update the database. In order to overcome these limitations, the purpose of this paper builds up a database of construction criteria and develops a automatic writing system for construction project specification on web base. The database contains standard specifications, design and construction guidelines related with construction business. And this paper describes the frameworks, the components, and the functions of the specifications writing system for the construction projects.

  • Ubiquitous computing technology provides anytime and anywhere accessibility to information, ubiquitous computing is adapted in the various field to increase efficiency of work. After looking into the trend of ubiquitous computing, case studies of information service using mobile service and RFID system in library were investigated in this paper. Library information service are providing retrieval of library OPAC and verifications of circulation and return date using mobile internet technology. In addition, various notice services using short me sage service(SMS) of mobile are available. Considering growing mobile service and RFID system advancement of related technology, more information service utilizing mobile service and RFID system should be developed in near future.

  • The library faced an unexpected crisis of COVID-19, and as a countermeasure strategy, non-face-to-face online service has been reinforced. Therefore, this study attempted to present a plan to overcome the challenges arising from rapidly changing external environment and current crisis. To this end, data search, electronic library, library service, cultural event and open space management status of 288 public libraries serviced as an integrated site were investigated. Based on this, the meaning of online services in the post-COVID-19 era and the implication of it were examined. As a result, first, the increase in the use rate of online data search services with the spread of non-face-to-face culture, second, the expansion of the services of the electronic library, third, the diversification of non-face-to-face, online services, fourth, expansion of online cultural event services, fifth, the diversification of open space services were proposed, sixth, Introduced an artificial intelligence system for unattended loan return based on access and the Seventh, expansion of experiential cultural support services and educational contents through VR, AR and MR. It is deemed necessary for the research on the future direction of the library's non-face-to-face services to be conducted by investigating the current status of online services in various types of libraries and the types and case studies of library services in the era of COVID-19.

The Factor Analyses of Service Quality Components in University Libraries (대학도서관 서비스 질의 구성요인 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to measure performance of university libraries, especially investigating the components of service quality and their relationship to the customer satisfaction. The result of the study was summarized as follows: First, the factors on satisfaction of library service revealed 12 factors such as access of information, quality of employees, suitable collections, issues related to civil petitions, equipments and facilities, timeliness, operating hours, use of information technology, library user education, reference service, public relation and individual service. Second, the factors of library service on customer satisfaction showed the following primary factors: suitable collections, issues related to civil petitions, access of information, equipments and facilities, timeliness, public relation, reference service, operating hours, and individual service. Third, the components of library service on customwe satisfaction showed the following primary components: availability, the number of books and journals, facilities of air conditioning, public relation, usefulness of retrieval system, waiting time for Internet use, operating hour, speed of repairs, receipt of civil petitions, use of non-book materials.

A Study on the Development of Electronic Resource Management System in a University Library (대학도서관 전자자원관리시스템(ERMS) 구축에 관한 연구)

  • With the rapid growth and development of information technology and the Internet, the amount of information published in electronic formats such as video, audio, digitalized text, etc. and the number of users accessing information online to satisfy their information needs are growing at a tremendous rate. This study analyzes standardized components to construct ERMS and proposes a model of ERMS based on the result of the analysis. The main functions of ERMS in university libraries are: 1) ERMS can manage and control access information to various electronic resources, metadata, holdings, user resources. Also, ERMS can be compatible with an existing library system such as IR(Information Retrieval) system, linking system, or proxy system. 2) ERMS should completely be compatible with acquisition and cataloging systems for effective management and control of integrated information organization and library budget. 3) ERMS should systematically and effectively manage license information on electronic resources. 4) ERMS should provide ideal and effective environment for use and access control of electronic resources in a library and integrated tool to manage and control all of electronic resources. Additionally, this study points out the need to organize committee groups to establish standardized rules and collaborative management of electronic resources among university libraries like DLF ERMI and redesign organizations in a library and a librarian's job description.

  • 21세기를 맞이하여 대학도서관은 정보기술의 도입, 업무내용의 변화, 이용자의 요구변화등 급격하게 변화하는 새로운 환경에 직면해 있다. 본 연구는 한국의 대학도서관 조직구조의 현황에 대한 분석과 함께 다양한 조직이론들과 정보환경의 변화에 기초해서 도서관조직을 활성화시키기위한 개념적인 조직모델을 제시하고자 한다. 한국의 대학도서관은 거의 10년동안 법적인 제약과 조직내외의 환경적인 한계 등으로 인해 전산화시스템의 도입, 도서관부관장의 임명, 그리고 도서관과 컴퓨터 센터와의 통합시도와 같은 약간의 변화외에는 거의 변화가 없었다. 전형적인 한국의 대학도서관은 수서, 기술서비스, 열람과 참고봉사 부문으로 조직되었다. 여기서 수서 기능을 기술서비스의 부문으로 간주한다면, 본 연구의 대상인 대학도서관 114개관 중 95개관(82.5%)이 전통적인 도서관조직의 형태인 기술서비스와 공공서비스 부문으로 조직된 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 전통적인 도서관조직의 문제점들을 급복할 수 있는 21세기의 개념적인 대학도서관 조직모델로서, 네가지 부문 - 서비스 부문, 서비스지원 부문, 기술지원 부문, 그리고 통합·조정부문-을 대학도서관의 개념적인 기본 구성요소로써 제안하였다. 그러나 모든 도서관의 서비스나 업무과정에 대해 적합한 잉상적인 조직구조는 없으며, 조직의 재조직과정은 도서관의 형태와 목적, 업무과정에 따라 매우 다양하다. 따라서 도서관의 재조직화는 환경의 변화에 따라 끊임없는 과정이 될 것이며, 도서관조직의 성공은 이러한 변화에 적응할 수 있는 개인과 조직의 역량에 달려있다고 하겠다.대한 순서에 있어서 차이가 있다. 4) 도서관에 대한 태도에 있어서 두 집단은 상이한 입장을 보이고 있다. 학자들의 과반수는 중요 정보원으로서 자신의 개인장서를 활용하며, 도서관의 장서 및 그 조직방법에 대해서도 별로 만족하지를 못하고 있다. 반면에, 실무가들은 도서관에 대하여 비교적 만족하며 따라서 도서관에 대한 이용도도 높다. 5) 두 집단 모두 보조인을 적극적으로 활용하지 않으며 사서의 도움을 받는 경우도 극소수에 불과하다. 이러한 조사결과를 기초로 하여 볼 때 법률전문직을 둘러싼 정보환경을 개선하기 위하여는, 인쇄된 일차적 정보자료의 검색방법등을 개선하고, 나아가서는 법령과 판례정보를 위한 효율적인 시스템을 구축하며, 뿐만 아니라 이용자의 요구에 충분히 대처할 수 잇는 도서관으로 변화되는 것이다. 이와 함께 가장 중요한 것은 법과대학과 사법연수원에서 법학 연구방법에 관한 강좌를 개설하여 각종 법률정보원의 활용 내지 도서관 이용방법에 관하여 교육하는 것이다.글을 연구하고, 그 결과에 의존하여서 우리의 실제의 생활에 사용하는 $\boxDr$한국어사전$\boxUl$등을 만드는 과정에서, 어떤 의미에서 실험되었다고 말할 수가 있는 언어과학의 연구의 결과에 의존하여서 수행되는 철학적인 작업이다. 여기에서는 하나의 철학적인 연구의 시작으로 받아들여지는 이 의미분석의 문제를 반성하여 본다. 것이 필요하다고 사료된다.크기에 의존하며, 또한 이러한 영향은 $(Ti_{1-x}AI_{x})N$ 피막에 존재하는 AI의 함량이 높고, 초기에

A Study on the Research Trends in Library & Information Science in Korea using Topic Modeling (토픽모델링을 활용한 국내 문헌정보학 연구동향 분석)

  • The goal of the present study is to identify the topic trend in the field of library and information science in Korea. To this end, we collected titles and s of the papers published in four major journals such as Journal of the Korean Society for information Management, Journal of the Korean Society for Library and Information Science, Journal of Korean Library and Information Science Society, and Journal of the Korean BIBLIA Society for library and Information Science during 1970 and 2012. After that, we applied the well-received topic modeling technique, Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA), to the collected data sets. The research findings of the study are as follows: 1) Comparison of the extracted topics by LDA with the subject headings of library and information science shows that there are several distinct sub-research domains strongly tied with the field. Those include library and society in the domain of "introduction to library and information science," professionalism, library and information policy in the domain of "library system," library evaluation in the domain of "library management," collection development and management, information service in the domain of "library service," services by library type, user training/information literacy, service evaluation, classification/cataloging/meta-data in the domain of "document organization," bibliometrics/digital libraries/user study/internet/expert system/information retrieval/information system in the domain of "information science," antique documents in the domain of "bibliography," books/publications in the domain of "publication," and archival study. The results indicate that among these sub-domains, information science and library services are two most focused domains. Second, we observe that there is the growing trend in the research topics such as service and evaluation by library type, internet, and meta-data, but the research topics such as book, classification, and cataloging reveal the declining trend. Third, analysis by journal show that in Journal of the Korean Society for information Management, information science related topics appear more frequently than library science related topics whereas library science related topics are more popular in the other three journals studied in this paper.
