A Study on the Information Service of School Library Based on ASP Model (어플리케이션 서비스 제공(ASP) 모델에 의한 학교도서관 정보서비스에 관한 연구)

  • It is general for industrial body to adopt information system using ASP(application service provider) model according to the increase of management expense. the change of information system circumstance and the trend of application development cycle. ASP model is a variation on outsourcing system support and services. ASP maintains servers and software for different customers at a centralized location. The purpose of this study examined the feasibility to implement school digital library and information system using ASP model. Based upon the examination, this study is suggested information system of school digital library to aspects of H/W, S/W, components. functions.

A Study on User Service and Enhancement Strategy for Chungnam Representative Library (충남대표도서관 이용자 서비스 및 활성화 전략 연구)

  • The present study aims to develop measures to enhance user service at Chungnam Representative Library by establishing Chungnam Representative Library Operation Master Plan. To this end, I conducted a literature review, analysis of services of other representative libraries, and a survey. The study results suggested six measures for user service enhancement. The first measure is space-specific programs, such as children's materials room, general materials room, electronic materials room, auditorium, multipurpose room, outdoor stage, exhibition room, and book café. The second measure is the services specific user types, such as children, adolescents, adults, the disabled, and multicultural families. The third measure is information service specific for information type, such as print material service and digital material service. The fourth measure is the service for the Information-Poor including the expansion of mobile library service, the service for information users in special environment, and the development of mobile library rules. Fifth measure is information service for Chungcheongnam-do residents, such as Baekje Studies specialized service that incorporates local characteristics, specialized information service for Chungcheong Studies and local materials, and information service for administrative and policy materials. The last measure is the measure to secure initial users and early stage service enhancement.

A Study on Community Information Services for Elderly People in Public Libraries (고령자를 위한 공공도서관 지역정보서비스에 관한 연구)

  • As elderly population increases their use of public libraries also increases, and thus, public library services for older people need to be more developed. The information needs of older population are mostly related to the everyday life, such as health, medical care, social welfare, the main services of public library community information services or information and referral services. Through a literature review, foreign case studies, homepage surveys, site surveys, this study explores types and content of community information for elderly people, and suggests, ways of enhancing community information services for elderly people.

A Study on Activation of e-Reserve Service in University Libraries: Focusing on the case of University Libraries in the United States (대학도서관의 전자 지정자료 서비스 활성화에 대한 연구 - 미국 대학도서관 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • Unlike the United States, course reserve and e-Reserve services of university libraries are very poorly operated in Korea. This paper studied cases of e-Reserve service operation of 131 university libraries in the United States to provide basic materials for revitalizing the e-Reserve service of domestic university libraries. To confirm the operation case, 131 university library websites were surveyed, and among them, the e-Reserve service operation methods of 7 university libraries were compared and analyzed, and the functions of 4 e-Reserve supporting software were checked. The research results can be used as reference materials in operating the e-Reserve service in domestic university libraries, and the function of the analyzed support software is considered to be a functional requirement to be considered when introducing the system.

  • 디지털도서관은 전통적인 도서관의 역할과 함께 새로운 형태의 전자자원과 웹자원을 열람할 수 있는 시설과 기기를 이용자에게 제공함으로써 IT환경에 익숙한 이용자들에게 검증된 어떤 형태의 정보자원도 제공하는 도서관이다. NDL은 국립중앙도서관의 부서이지만 별도의 공간에서 디지털정보자원만으로 도서관 서비스를 제공하여 명실상부한 디지털도서관의 원형을 구현하였다. 이에 따라 이 연구에서는 NDL의 구성원들의 디지털도서관의 운영고도화를 위한 설문을 바탕으로 디지털도서관 운영모델을 제안하였다. 디지털 도서관의 성공적인 운영을 위한 주요 요인은 조직의 전문성을 비롯하여, 제도적 정보자원의 확보, 정보활용교육에 기반한 홍보방안 수립 등이었다.

  • This study examines current practices of the multicultural services in public library and offers directions for improvement in the multicultural society. For this, this study is set up the list of the multicultural services on the basis of the plans and the announcements about multicultural services of an international organization. Moreover, researchers analysed the multicultural services of Incheon Jungang Library. The results of this study are as follows. They proposed the improvement of the multicultural services of a public library as the changes of cognition of the multicultural services, training for professional manpower, program for intercultural understanding, accessibility to information, etc.

  • This is a user study of the public access to the Internet at public libraries in Busan and Kyungnam province. The mainstream of users was identified as a typical 'information rich'. It was found that public libraries were not successful in leading the traditional non-users into the libraries with public access to the Internet in libraries. For users the most attractive feature of the service was the fact that it was given for free, while they were not value the professional guidance of librarians. Upgrade of hardwares and telecommunication infrastructure was at the highest priority of the users want list, Some strategies for the public access to the Internet at public libraries were proposed.

A Study on Developing a Service Quality Evaluation Model for Library Mobile Service (도서관 모바일 서비스 품질 평가 모형 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper aims to develop an evaluation model for library mobile services in terms of service quality. First, a literature review of the service quality evaluation model and the mobile library service evaluation was conducted. Then, based on the analysis, the evaluation model consisting of 4 quality dimensions, 10 quality factors, 39 quality measurement items was developed. Delphi method was applied to verify the validity of the model. Finally, a final model consisting of 4 quality dimensions, 9 quality factors, and 37 quality measurement items was derived. The evaluation model proposed in this study can be used as a measure of library mobile service quality and can be used as a guideline for improvement of library mobile service.

An Application of the Derived Taxonomy of Service Value for University Libraries (대학도서관 서비스 가치의 분류체계 적용에 관한 연구)

  • This paper reports a case study in which Saracevic and Kantor's derived taxonomy of library services was applied to qualitative data gathered from sixteen university library users. Using face-to-face interview method, we collected user responses related to the reasons of using services, aspects of interaction, and results of using services. Specific codes from the taxonomy were applied to the verbal expressions. The results show that library services are being used for a variety of purposes and that this approach enables us to effectively capture and classify service value expressed in users' own words. The taxonomy is evaluated to be quite comprehensive and scalable.

A Study on the Management Strategy of a National Library for the Policy Information Service: with a Special Reference to the National Sejong Library (정책정보서비스 활성화를 위한 국립도서관 운영전략 연구 - 국립세종도서관을 중심으로 -)

  • In line with the establishment of the National Sejong Library, the main objective of this study is to construct a basic management plan to enable smooth operations of the library from its opening. To follow through with this goal, this paper analyzes the environment surrounding the National Sejong Library, puts forth new strategies to reinforce the policy information service, and suggests new development plans for the library's collection. This study examines the internal and external environment of the library through face-to-face interviews with library staff, while conducting surveys on public officials transferred to the city for suggestions on how to reinforce the policy information service. The vision of the National Sejong Library is to become a specialized resource institution in administrative policy, while also fulfilling the day-to-day needs of the community and serving as a supplementary record storage facility to the National Library. In order to reinforce the policy information service, it is crucial to digitize all policy-related theses, reports, and trend research, while establishing a firm network with other libraries in Korea and abroad to provide a wider range of policy files, local government policy documents, and other resources.
