A Study on User Satisfaction Research about Spacial Composition before and after Remodeling University Library Focused on C University Library (대학도서관 리모델링 전.후의 공간구성에 관한 이용자 만족도 조사 연구 - C대학교 중앙도서관을 중심으로 -)

  • University libraries are involved in college education and college education is also involved in university libraries. To the knowledge information society increases the competitive power of the university and the academic library which national competitive power strengthens further must be operated developmentally. Professors and students to support research and learning activities appropriate facilities and systems must be equipped with features and the role of university libraries will be fulfilled properly. In this study, we analyze changes in the configuration space, and accordingly remodel before and after the user satisfaction survey of spatial configuration on the users' satisfaction and the results are to analyze based on C University Library. As a result of this study, the library space was utilized to determine the importance of purpose in the future, these results increase the quality of library service or library user satisfaction survey. Study will be a good reference for researchers.

An Analysis and Improvements of Loans and User Satisfaction for Smart Libraries: A Case of A Library in Incheon (스마트도서관 이용 및 만족도 분석과 활성화 방안 - 인천광역시 A도서관의 스마트도서관 사례연구 -)

  • As the number of smart libraries is continuously increasing, activation measures are necessary to expand user engagement and enhance service quality. This study analyzed the usage patterns of four smart libraries in A Library in Incheon, from June 2020 to December 2023. It also conducted user satisfaction surveys and question-and-answer sessions with a librarian. The number of books and loans increased, and two smart libraries in areas without public libraries showed high usage rates. Although users were satisfied with the smart libraries, they pointed out inconveniences such as the limited number of loan books and insufficient books. Consequently, it is suggested to improve user-centered service quality, continuous monitoring and evaluation, as well as active promotion.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of the operation of small libraries in Seoul and to assess the perception of their importance and satisfaction. For this purpose, 861 small libraries in Seoul were surveyed on the overall operational satisfaction, operational improvement, and the importance of operation. As a result, it was discovered that there is a demand for increased operational support for small libraries, enhanced publicity, improved education and treatment of volunteers, improved quality of the book collection, and continuously improved space and facilities. Furthermore, the public and private libraries should be classified to reflect operational characteristics of the operating entity, rather than implementing the uniform budget support and guidance management.

  • Librarians, who provide the public with library services at public libraries, are employees whose jobs are often require emotional labor. The emotional labor of librarians working at public libraries can result in stresses caused by the discrepancy between the library's emotional requirements and the librarian's personal emotions, which may influence organizational effectiveness, such as organizational commitment and job satisfaction. In that, this study intends to examine the influence of emotional labor on the organizational commitment and job satisfaction of librarians working at public libraries. To do so, based upon the conceptual underpinning through literature reviews of librarians working at public libraries and emotional labor, this study constructs a theoretical framework of organizational commitment and job satisfaction of librarians. Using a questionnaire survey method, this study surveys 238 public library staff from 33 public libraries in the Seoul metropolitan area, statistically examines the response through the SPSS20 statistical package, and analyzes the relationship between and among the variables. Based on the analysis, discussion on the influence of the emotional labor on organizational commitment and job satisfaction of librarians working at public libraries follows.

A Study on the User Satisfaction and Information Behavior of Information Commons in the National Digital Library of Korea (국립디지털도서관 정보광장 이용자의 만족도 및 이용행태에 관한 연구)

  • This study examines user satisfaction and information behavior of information commons in the National Digital Library (NDL) of Korea through survey method. It analyzed service quality factors that affect the overall user satisfaction, and users' information behavior according to the physical spaces/facilities in the information commons. User satisfaction factors were developed to measure library satisfaction in all aspects of the eleven physical spaces/facilities of information commons service, and information behavior on eleven physical spaces/facilities in information commons were explored by users' character. According to survey findings, overall level of user satisfaction was maintained highly since the beginning of NDL. In particular, the facility of 'Productivity Computer Cluster' was ranked highest as 83.8 and the 'UCC Studio' was ranked lowest as 70.8 among the eleven facilities in information commons.

The Analyses of Customer Satisfaction Index on University Library Service (대학도서관서비스에 대한 고객만족도 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to measure performance of university libraries, especially investigating the components of service quality and their relationship to the customer satisfaction. The result of the statistical analyses is summarized as follows: The result of 5 point scale study shows the following degree of satisfaction in 55 components: timeliness of circulation, processing of fine. location of library, usefulness of retrieval system, library user education, speed of retrieval. number of terminals, and cleaning. On the other hand, shows the following degree of dissatisfaction in 55 components: speed of civil petitions, hour for program use, result of civil petitions, fixing of library user education, speed of retrieval, method of public relation, waiting time for Internet use, and use of the other library materials. Also. customers’matters of weight and importance was availability. learning facilities, suitable collections, circulation, and system of retrieval.

The Effects of Teacher Librarians' Images on the User Satisfaction of School Libraries (사서교사 이미지가 학교도서관 이용자 만족도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest how to activate the school library by examining how the users' perceive teacher librarians. For this purpose, questionnaires and in-depth interviews were conducted for students in 10 middle and high schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi. Analyses lead to these findings: the image types of teacher librarians were classified as professional image, active image, and simple-work image. Multiple regression analysis was used to examine the effect of teacher librarians images on school library user satisfaction. In order to enhance the teacher librarians images and school library user satisfaction, it is necessary to strive to cultivate the active attitude and professionalism of teacher librarians. Also, as the frequency of use is lower, the teacher librarians' images are viewed as simple work. Therefore, it is required to consider various reading events and reading education to raise the frequency of use. This study shows that the teacher librarians' images have a positive effect on school library users' satisfaction and suggests improvement plan for school library activation.

  • This study aims at analyzing librarians' job satisfaction at public libraries in Dae-gu, according to various management and employment styles. As a theoretical study, it discusses management styles of public libraries and argues concepts and factors of job satisfaction. Based on the discussion the study selects 7 factors of job satisfaction and conducts a survey. All the respondents are satisfactory to 4 factors; job, co-worker, superior officer, and business affairs, but are not satisfactory to 3 factors; wages, welfare, and employment. There are differences between contract managed libraries and direct managed libraries. At local government's contract managed libraries there is no difference in a sense of job insecurity between full-time and part-time librarians. The remarkable differences between full-time and part-time librarians are concerning participation in decision making processes and discretion in business affairs. The most significant differences between them are about wages, welfare and employment.

  • The purpose of this study is to present a management improvement suggestion for better user satisfaction. For this, this research looked into the current issues of public libraries with literature review. Then a survey of eight hundred users in four libraries in Y-gu, D Metropolitan City was conducted to figure out users' needs. As a result, the purpose of use, visit frequency and programs demanded are turned out to show statistically significant differences. Based on this result, finally, this study suggests an advisable management direction for public libraries and practical ways to improve user satisfaction.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the local government's regulation on facilities and the operation method of the small library provided for in 'the Ordinance on the Support for Installation and Operation of Small Libraries', and investigate and analyze the satisfaction with the services and needs on the part of users of small libraries, thus suggesting an effective management plan for them. In this study, literature reviews and questionnaire surveys were conducted simultaneously using monographic publications, theses, legal materials and Internet sites. As for study results, an effective management plan for small libraries was suggested as follow with its division into five realms; that is, facilities, materials, manpower, programs and network.
