This research investigated user satisfaction and importance of OPAC2.0 services in university libraries for book search result. This research analyzed OPAC2.0 services in university libraries focusing on book search result, user satisfaction with and importance in services, difference in satisfaction and importance, and grade and satisfaction. As a result of the investigation and analysis, OPAC2.0 services given the most was the service of 'portal site linkage'. Generally, the satisfaction with OPAC2.0 services was 2.07 in average, 'very dissatisfactory'. The service considered to be the most important was 'service item'. The difference between satisfaction and importance showed dissatisfactory result, compared with importance in general. The grade and the general difference in satisfaction didn't appear. On the basis of the analysis result mentioned above, with the purpose of the improvement in OPAC2.0 services focusing on book search result, it is necessary to manage users continuously by publicizing libraries concerning respective services, introducing use guide, offering a variety of services, improving quality, and offering information.

In this study, we propose an approach of building a portal site that can offer integrated services for textbook through special libraries For this purpose, we analyzed previous related studies and investigated textbook portal construction sites domestically and abroad. Based on this research, we developed survey questions and conducted a survey targeting users of textbook libraries. As a result, the following projects are required for creating a textbook library: a comprehensive list of textbooks and other content construction, digitization projects of library holdings, collection and delivery of various textbook-related reference books, building a textbook database by topic, collecting and providing textbook-related research publications, a cooperation network with textbook-related organizations, and active promotion of portal sites.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the status of e-books usage in small university library and to suggest implications for e-book management policies. To do that, a survey was conducted with students in a local small university, and the valid responses of 259 people were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the preference of paper books (71%) was higher than that of e-books (12%). However, satisfaction with e-books (45.6%) was higher than that of paper books (27.9%) if they had experience using e-books. In addition, satisfaction was highest when using e-books for general reading, and it was found that the use device preferred to use a tablet. Based on the results of this study, we proposed some suggestions; 1) establishment of e-books service policy and promotion plan, 2) use of e-books dedicated devices and development of user-friendly e-books using environment, 3) providing various topics of e-books, 4) formation of an association for joint use of e-books between small library universities.

This study purposes for the based data for establishing the mid- to long term development direction of Anyang municipal libraries by conducting a survey of residents in Anyang city and focus group interviews with local experts. Based on the results of the survey and FGI analysis conducted in this study, the main implications and discussions for establishing mid- to long term development plans for Anyang municipal libraries in the future are summarized as follows. First, the services used by users are extremely limited compared to the utilization rate of library, and the utilization rate of library programs is low, therefore Anyang municipal libraries need to actively promote various services operated by the library, provide information, and make efforts to improve service use procedures simply. Second, library satisfaction is relatively high, but as a result of analyzing the reasons for some dissatisfaction, active budget investment for purchasing new library materials and ways to increase library accessibility are necessary. Third, due to the low awareness of the operation of specialized libraries, it is necessary to develop specialized, unique library services to Anyang municipal libraries through benchmarking of other best practices. Fourth, in the future, Anyang municipal libraries need to strengthen functions as a complex cultural center along with the functions as an information center, a lifelong education center, and a living convenience center. Lastly, it is required to construct a control tower that can systematically lead the operation of Anyang municipal libraries in the long term through the reorganization of the organizational system.

The purpose of this study is to derive the operation strategies for establishing the mid-to-long-term comprehensive library development plans considering the identity and specificity of Anyang City. For this purpose, this study proceeded as follows. First, to understand the internal and external environment and regional characteristics of Anyang City, various literature and statistical data related to Anyang City were collected, analyzed, and organized. Second, the operation status of Anyang municipal libraries was analyzed with data such as 「National Library Statistics System」, 「Gyeonggido Public Library Yearbook」, and various library-related laws. Third, a survey with open-ended questions was conducted for twenty-six librarians working in Anyang municipal libraries to collect opinions on the identity of Anyang and the overall operations of the libraries. Lastly, by reflecting the current status analysis, the latest library trends, policies, and sociocultural environments, detailed operation strategies that can serve as a basis for establishing mid-to long term development plans for Anyang municipal libraries in the future were proposed. The above operating strategies were proposed by dividing into six areas such as (1) the plans for organizational system and manpower composition, (2) the facility plans for balanced regional development, (3) the collection development and preservation direction, (4) the special subject materials service plans, (5) the for establishing cooperation system, and (6) the public relations plans.

The exhibit programs of library are considered an effective and imporant mechanism to satisfy the demand for information of library users and to innovate a library image. Accordingly, the purpose of this paper is to investigate their recognitions as to how librarians and library users think of the effectiveness of the exhibition programs and as to how the programs exert an influence upon libraries. For research methodology, this research is randomly questionnaired to 360 library users and 90 librarians in July 1995. The collected data is analyzed by such statistical methods as frequency, crosstabs, T test and annova. The analysis shows that there are interesting research findings as follw; 1. The exhibition programs are appeared to be effective for education of library users. 2. The programs are appeared to be effective for increased use of library materials. 3. The programs are appeared to be effective for public relations. 4. The programs are appeared to be effective for collection development. 5. They are revealed to have academic values like academic articles. In sum, among the opinions of librarians, they indicate that the programs are very important in activating the functions of library. Therefore, university libraries should lavishly support the exhibition programs with enough budget and exhibition planners to manage.

본 연구의 목적은 유사한 문화적 배경을 공유한 일본, 한국, 대만의 도서관학 교육을 비교하여 유사점과 상이점을 발견하고 그들의 배경이유를 찾아서 사회와 도서관학 교육의 관계를 밝히는 것이다. 비교의 대상이 된 교육기관은 4년제 대학(교)의 도서관학과로 일본의 다섯 대학교, 한국의 아홉 대학교, 대만의 네 대학교의 도서관학 교육을 비교하였다. 연구가 증명하려고 시도한 가설은, 1. 일본, 한국, 대만은 유사한 문화적 배경을 공유하는 한편, 미국의 도서관학 교육을 받아들였으므로, 세 나라의 도서관학 교육에는 유사점들이 있을 것이다. 2. 상이점들이 있다면, 그것들은 각 국의 특성을 반영할 것이다. 3. 세 나라의 도서관학 교육에 유사점들이 있다면 도서관학 교육의 경향, 문제점들 및 전망도 비슷할 것이다. 가설의 증명을 위하여 교육의 목적, 교수진, 남$\cdot$여학생의 비율, 입학시의 학생들의 학력수준, 교과과정, 과정수료에 요구되는 특수조건, 교과서, 연구, 학과 도서실 및 시설, 학과와 도서관과의 협력관계, 정보학 교과목, 사회가 요구하는 도서관 봉사 및 그에 대응하는 도서관학 교육의 청도, 교육의 경향, 문제점 및 장래 그리고 학과 졸업생들의 도서관 취업률 등을 비교하였다. 비교의 결과 가설을 타당한 것으로 받아들일 수 있었다. 결론에 대한 설명과 아울러 도서관학 교육의 방향을 제언하였다. 1. 미국의 도서관학 교육이 근거로 한 이론적인 배경 및 개념을 재검토하여 적합한 것은 받아들이고, 필요한 경우에는 변형하여 적용하도록 노력해야 한다. 미국과 다른 나라의 실제 도서관 업무 및 봉사에 대한 이해를 토대로 하여 사서와 교육자가 함께 자국의 상황에 적합한 고유한 도서관학을 정립하여야 한다. 2. 도서관 이용 및 봉사에 보다 관심을 기울이고 바람직한 개념을 홍보하고 그것에 호응하는 환경을 만들기 위하여 노력해야 한다. 미래의 사서인 학생들을 이용자에게 접근하여 그들을 가르칠 수 있고 도서관을 이용하도록 유도할 수 있게끔 교육을 시켜야 할 것이다. 3. 미국 이외의 나라에서 실시되는 교육제도에도 관심을 가져야 할 것이다. 4. 도서관 및 도서관학 교육에 정부의 적극적인 지원이 필요하다. 다른 전문직과 같은 대우를 받으려면, 국가고시제도가 도입되어야 할 것이다. 5. 도서관협회가 도서관학 교육에 보다 적극적으로 참여해야 한다. 사서 자격증을 관할하는 단체가 될 수도 있고 교육의 내용에도 관여할 수 있다. 6. 도서관학과와 도서관과의 협력관계가 보다 강화되어야 하며, 도서관현장을 토대로 한 연구활동이 필요하다. 진정한 의미의 문제 해결을 위한 연구활동이 없이 이론적, 실제적인 발전을 기대할 수 없다. 7. 대학(교) 도서관 및 특수도서관의 사서를 위한 전문교육은 대학원 수준에서 제공되고, 학부의 도서관학 교육은 학교도서관 및 공공도서관의 사서를 위한 교육으로 전문화되어야 한다. 8. 도서관학의 교육자들이 모여 문제를 토론하고 해결책을 모색할 수 있는 기회가 제공되어야 하며, 세 나라가 공동의 경험을 나누고 문제를 함께 해결할 수 있는 공식적인 회의나 학회의 구성이 필요하다.

This study was conducted to grasp the changing user needs, especially the changing information needs of the vulnerable groups of knowledge and information. The study analyzed the information needs of the migrants in Area A by introducing a community-based participatory research methodology. The authors cooperated with the local community throughout the entire course of the study and proposed an inclusive library strategy for the underprivileged in the A region. Migrants were in demand for easy writing materials, reading activities programs, leisure culture programs, and literacy programs. In particular, it was analyzed that services should be provided through cooperation with related organizations. As a result of the study, it was suggested to provide experiences of deeply participating in the current library and to provide various information sources (resource guides) and to promote through children.

This research surveyed college students in Korea on their satisfaction for e-book services provided by university libraries. Their usage behavior was investigated, and the satisfaction rate for e-book usage and its service quality were analyzed to comprehend the status of e-book usage. The analysis showed that overall satisfaction for e-book service of university libraries was 2.93 on average. Moreover, the more frequently a student used the service, the more satisfied the student was; junior/senior-level and graduate school student groups showed higher satisfaction for e-book service than freshman and sophomore students. The most influential factor for satisfaction based on the e-book service quality was the content of the service, followed by the library support service system. Based on the findings, reinforcement of library public relations and user education, and the maintenance of the variety and up-to-date status of the contents were proposed to stimulate future university library e-book services.

This study explores the concepts and programs of 'makerspaces' at public libraries. It examines the extended and sustainable service outreach strategies of 14 Korean public libraries whose makerspaces were identified as "infinite imagination spaces." Through interviews with staff members, the study identifies the needs, effects, limitations, and future direction of makerspaces. The study also evaluates the development, types, funding sources, and outcomes of makerspaces in public libraries through related literature reviews and case studies. The study's findings suggest that strategies with stable and varied funding, staffing, and training are crucial to fostering makerspaces that not only become communal gathering spots, but also become gateways to technological tinkering that 'make' spaces for community archives.
