Consumer health information is receiving more attention than ever before. This growing attention can be linked to the Internet and to people seeking more information on health topics. The purpose of this study is to suggest a design of the Knowledge management system for medical information services in a public library. As theoretical backgrounds, it discusses the issues regarding to the medical information services in a public library, knowledge management and knowledge management system. After that, 12 medical information sites are analyzed then the planning and the main menu of a medical information site for a public library are described. Finally, the model of the knowledge management system for a public library with 5 sub-systems are suggested: 1) knowledge creation system, 2) technology support system, 3) training system, 4) community service system, 5) knowledge sharing and network system. This system based on knowledge management will help provide the users high quality of medical information.

The purpose of this study is to explore the process of forming practical knowledge about library-based instruction of low-experienced teacher librarians. The study conducted interviews with six teacher librarians with less than three years of teaching experience. The analysis of the data collected focused on the teachers' self-knowledge and instructional knowledge, which are in the areas of practical knowledge. The results of the analysis of the study are as follows. First, the self-knowledge of teacher librarians was a teacher with leadership, who led students and teachers to reading education and information literacy instruction. Second, the self-knowledge of teacher librarians was most concretely formed in the process of pre-service teacher training, and the reflection on the teacher's image was taking place in the school field. Third, the knowledge of the instructional knowledge for library-based instruction was focused on library collaborative instruction, and various teaching methods were being learned and applied in school field. Fourth, there was a difference in the instructional knowledge of library-based instruction among teacher librarians. Through this study, it is suggested that the teacher training course and educational practicum activities should be changed by reflecting the contents of the actual school field, and the analysis of library-based instruction should be continued.

The purpose of this study was to identify web designer's knowledge organization for WWW. Linked web sites were investigated in public library web pages. Independent variable was the supervised offices of public libraries and dependent variables were the web sites of type of public libraries, supervised offices of public libraries, and employment information. Results showed that special library and supervised office web sites were linked differently by public library web pages differently based upon supervised offices. This difference was resulted from geographical factors and types of information on the web sites.

Public libraries are core organization of knowledge information and culture creation in the knowledge-based society in 21st century. The purpose of this study is to propose a development plan for public library as a user-friendly cultural space that provides service and utilization of efficient knowledge information resources. To achieve this goal, the study carried out a survey targeting 525 users of 21 public libraries members of Jeollanamdo education office. The results identified the perception gap in respect of operation satisfaction, creation of social capital, and area development contribution. This research also proposed an alternative approaches to overcome difficulties.

In most countries, public libraries play a role as a knowledge and information hub for local communities, a complex cultural space, and a third place for meetings and communication. Among the work of public libraries for this purpose, the key point is systematic collection development, and the established collection is essential for all knowledge and information services. In particular, local representative libraries must perform legal duties as a comprehensive knowledge information center for metropolitan governments, and develop, preserve, and service specialized collections that are difficult for other public libraries. Therefore, we analyzed the development cases of specialized collections of public libraries in large cities in foreign countries and local representative libraries in Korea, surveyed the degree of awareness of specialized collections for employees of public libraries and the cultural to geography in Gyeongbuk region. Based on the background information, this study proposed the development plan and establishment strategy of the Gyeongbuk Library specialized collection, which was named "Gyeongbuk Knowledge and Cultural Heritage."

대학도서관이 수행해야 할 보다 적극적이고 활동적인 서비스 형태로 이용자 학술지원을 위한 지식관리시스템의 모형, 즉 T 대학의 특수교육분야 중에서 장애인의 전환교육에 관련한 지식관리시스템 모형을 설계하였다. 이러한 지식관리시스템은 기존의 도서관 서비스의 확장된 영역으로 T 대학의 특성화를 달성할 수 있는 전문화된 서비스를 제공할 수 있고 전환교육에 대한 형식적 지식과 함께 조직구성원의 암묵적 지식을 축적함으로써 최신성 있는 데이터베이스를 유지할 수 있다.

In domestic university libraries, the difference between the knowledge resource collection activities on campus is depending on the size of the university, and their collection is concentrated on some types of digital resources. In recent years, the main universities in developed countries has developed actively in social openness and share activities of their knowledge resources, through the OA-based institutional repository, for the purpose of image improvement and competitiveness as a knowledge production base. This study examined ways to improve the relevant regulations in order to effectively collect and systematically manage the knowledge resources from graduate school, research institutes, center for teaching and learning, e-learning center, museum, press, a variety of campus organizations, so as to enhance the role of the library as the right manager of knowledge resources on campus. To this end, this study, considering the improvement of relevant regulations, investigates the operating situation of the library regulations of 176 universities and suggests necessary improvement methods in order to facilitate the digital legal deposit and expand its scope.

In recent years, many studies on the public library services for individual vulnerable groups have been performed in Korea. From the standpoint of public libraries with limited human and physical resources, however, all proposed alternatives are difficult to accommodate due to overload and in an integrated perspective, the several alternatives have a logical contradiction and possibility of realistic conflicts. Focusing on these facts, this study proposed an integrated direction and strategic plan to strengthen knowledge and information services of public libraries for five vulnerable classes, ie., the disabled persons, multi-cultural families, the elderly, rural residents, basic living subsidies.

학교 교육과정에서 도서관 교육은 학습 내용과 학습 방법 측면에서 방법적 지식과 사고 능력으로서의 성격을 갖는다. 즉 새로운 지식의 생산에 필요한 범교과적 학습 능력으로서의 위상을 갖는다. 문제는 이러한 성격이 교과 교육 과정은 물론 학생 일상생활과의 부단한 연계를 통해서 구현된다는 점이다. 즉 학교도서관 교육의 성공을 위해서는 학교 공동체 내에 학교 도서관 중심의 교육 공동체 구성이 필요하다. 학교도서관 정보화와 순회 사서를 포함한 비정규직 자원 봉사자 확산, 다양한 형태의 업무 대행 서비스 그리고 담당교사의 도서관 운영 연수 확대 속에서 자료 조직과 운영의 일부분은 영역 보편성을 띤지 오래되었다. 따라서 학교도서관 중심의 교육 공동체 구성은 도서관 활용수업으로 대표되는 교과의 자원기반학습과의 연계성에 기반을 두고 발전하는 추세이다. 본고에서는 필자가 개발 책임자로 참여하여 2010년 교육과학기술부와 대구광역시교육청이 공동으로 일선 학교에 보급한 사서교사와 교과교사의 협동수업용 장학 자료집의 주요 내용과 활성화 방안을 살펴보고자 한다.

To deal with a new environment of information technologies in the 21 Century, many libraries around the world have made great efforts to develop online knowledge-information services. In Korea, the National Library initiated an online knowledge-information services, in 2008. Through case studies and practical tests of online knowledge-information services, this article discusses plans for developing . The article explores definitions and types of online knowledge-information services, and analyzes online knowledge-information services in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Korea. Futhermore, practical reviews on the four services are conducted through 'question-answer' tests. As a result, the article discusses present and future tasks for improving .
