A Study on the Improvement of Classification System in Advertising Field of KDC (KDC 광고분야의 분류체계 개선에 관한 연구)

  • As the development of advertising industry and media the research about an advertisement get accomplished. As the result information resources called on the advertising materials are on an Increasing trend. However, it looks into the classification system In advertising field of KDC, the problems are as the follows : (1) the classification items are too incomplete, (2) the main class is badly arranged. The reason have no regard for the correlation with a science. So, it gives rise to confusion to the librarian and user. The purpose of the study is to present the improvement plan on the classification system in advertising field of KDC. In order to build the improvement plan, the four steps are utilized. The first step Is to investigate the characteristic of sciences on advertising and a type. The second one is to survey the current status of the library classification as KDC, NDC, DDC, and LCC. The third one is to analyse the classification system of library and web site on the advertising. The forth one is to grasp the problems on the classification system In advertising field of KDC.

A Study on Type Classification and Test Instruments Development of Reading Flow Using Structure Modeling (구조방정식 모형에 의한 독서 플로우의 유형 분류와 검사도구 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Successful reading instruction of teacher librarian should be to identify the reading characteristics of students. Nevertheless, there are insufficient tools for to identify the reading characteristics. Thus, this study propose the reading flow type classification and test instruments reading flow using structure equation modeling. In order to verify the reading flow type, this study established 4 temporary model(Warner, Dunn & Dunn, MBTI, flow construction), conformed using AMOS structure equation modeling. The most fit model of 4 temporary model were conformed flow construction. Test instruments for reading flow was developed based on conformed flow construction. Suggested reading flow type classification consist of 16 styles in four dimensions. Reading flow test instruments consist of 28 item styles in four dimensions. The data for this study re-used 1,836 students questionary for prior paper of this researcher.

A Study on the Continuing Education Efficiency of Librarian in the Private University Library (사립대학교도서관 사서직 직원의 계속교육실효성에 관한 연구 -인터넷과 전산 OA교육을 중심으로-)

  • 1. Only 6 libraries(23.1%) among 26 surveyed libraries have a person or part in charge of continuing education. It means that the method to select education program and education object is systemless. The 19 libraries (73.1%) encourage continuing education of librarian. 2. Compared with the group who didn't receive a formal education, the group who received have a high degree in the grade of confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for job in Internet education case. And the group that received a formal education have also a high degree in the grade of ability for job in OA education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction for job in the carreer is significantly different according to the formal education in Internet education case and OA education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for Sob in the scholarship are significantly different according to the formal education in internet and computer OA education case 3. Compared with the group that didn't receive periodical education the group that received periodical education have a high degree in the grade of confidence, self-satisfaction for Job in internet education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for job in the carreer are significantly different according to the periodical education in OA education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for businessin in the scholarship are significantly different according to the periodical education in internet and OA education case. 4. Compared with the group that didn't receive self-education the group that received self-education have a high degree in the grade of confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for job in internet and OA education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for Job in the carreer are significantly different according to the self education in internet and OA education case. Confidence, self-satisfaction and ability for Job in the scholarship are significantly different according to the self-education in internet and OA education case.

A Study on the Social Perception and Their Lives and Jobs of the Public Library Directors in Korea (한국 공공도서관장의 사회의식 및 생활.봉사에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was attempted to investigate the social opinion and their lives and jobs of the public library directors in Korea. The author attained data through questionaires by mail to about 180 directors of public libraries. The Major finding of this study are summarized as follows: 1) The more or higher the director"s revenue and degree of satisfaction for his/her revenur, and rich feeling in content for his/her job, the higher he/she recognize his/her social class. 2) Although many directors make it their principles to support for females to go to work. 87.4% of them also recognize the existence of discrimination by sex in attainment of their job positions. 3) Female directors feel more discriminated than male directors. Male are rather supporting or neutral for those discriminations. 4) The obstracles for conducting their jobs are insufficiency of budget for libraries. insufficiency of their job powers and so forth. 5) The Most disirable type of library directors is the mixed nature of type of research specialist and administrative specialist. Only the research talent is not sufficient for a library director and the administrative specialty is also strongly expected to the director.ctor.

Comparison with the Alternative Versions of the Korean Fairy Tele (전래동화 <해님과 달님>의 이본(異本) 비교)

  • The aim of this paper is to evaluate the text of six alternative versions of Korean fairy tale The Sun and the Moon. So the author took a textual bibliographical study of those versions in a comparative analysis of titles, backgrounds, characters. styles and functions of them. On the basis of this comparative analysis, the version of Hyo-Sun Eu was selected as a good text. In the version of Hyo-Sun Eu. if the helper In the story, King of Heaven represented in the form of Taoism would change into Heaven represented in the form of God, and the literary style change into the colloquial style, and the last scene that the Sun Brother turns to the Sun Sister and the Moon Sister to the Moon Brother would be removed, this version will be the best one.

  • A number of studies have emphasized the importance and values of reading in character education. However, there is no tool or framework for developing character education program. If teacher librarian to develop a character education program by reading should be preceded the framework for a comprehensive and systematic approach. The framework for character education program by reading is required to develop a program. The framework must be considered with a character factor and reading elements. The purpose of this study is to establish a framework that will help teacher librarian to develop a character education program by reading. This study analyzed on construction elements of character, reading material for character education, reading strategies, teaching methods. Then, this study propose a framework for developing character education program based on the analysis information. The proposed framework in this study consists of construction elements of character, reading material for character education, reading strategies, teaching methods.

Development of a Data Structure for Human Library Services (휴먼 라이브러리 서비스를 위한 데이터 구조 개발)

  • In this study, we suggested a data structure for the management of human libraries based on the analysis of the significant components for systematically managing and operating the human library service. At first, we proposed the components of human library metadata set which are 'Human Resource', 'Human Resource', 'Librarian', 'Volunteer', and 'User'. And this study verified the meta concepts of metadata set such as 'Human Library', 'Human Book' and 'User', developed the metadata set for human library using the meta concepts. To check the validity of the metadata set and to improve its usability, we created and published a XML document including the metadata structure and link between the meta concepts. In conclusion, this study provided the possibility that the library could develop the service recommended human book to user through user profile.

  • This study examines the history and issues of the LIS field in Korea in order to identify problems of the current librarian education & research areas and provide a new direction for development in this field. As the result of the research, the issues in the department of LIS are found as follows : 1) the LIS departments are restructuring their curriculums 2) the departments are strengthening IT education 3) the foundation for producing professional librarians with area expertise is established by double major programs 4) most popular research areas are library management, organization of information, information sciences etc. 5) the research areas have been diversified as well including information search, record management and publishing.

  • Although the importance of research methodoogy in library and information science(LIS) has been widely recognized, LIS has been also criticized that current research methodology in the field maintains only the positivistic orientation. Researchers on the other hand, assert that US should be studied as a human study, a subjective approach based on a phenomenological perspective, since US has very much to do. with the 'human factor,' with subjectivity in the form of librarian, patron, and administrator. In this paper, a review of the published qualitative research in the field which try to generate theories from the subjects in their own everyday life situation, attempts to shed light on the implication of a new terrain of everyday life research to US. Theory of everyday life is generated by the subjects who are involved in the social relationship, using their own language. It is a theory which shows the logic of the real world in which the everyday man recognize, act and communicate. This includes the perceptions, feelings, and meanings members experience as well as the 'small world' they create in process. Everyday life research performed using qualitative research methods which have strength to investigate this micro-structure applied to the field of library and information science, may bring enrichment to the library and information science research.

Toward Research Records Management in Government-funded Research Institutes (정부출연연구기관의 연구기록물 관리를 위한 수집 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose an approach to acquire research records effectively in context of government-funded research institutes via case studies and a questionnaire survey. For the case studies, a report from Joint Information Systems Committee JISC in UK, the University of Melbourne policy on the management of research data and records, a report from Canadian Association of Research Libraries(CARL) are analyzed. In addition, a survey questionnaire is conducted for forty nine government-funded research institutes and forty three responses out of 49 institutes are collected and analyzed. Based on the analyses on case studies and responses of the survey, an approach for research records management with four aspects is proposed: regulatory policy, best practices and manuals, professionals for research records, and outreach programs of individual reseach institutes for acquiring appropriate research records.
