The aim of this study is to develop and suggest a reading strategy to learn for integrating reading and writing. The reading and writing strategy could be divided in directed strategies related to the cognitive process and indirected strategies to carry out the process successfully. Therefore, its strategies are constructed of the indirected strategy corresponding with the instructional design model and the direct strategy containing specific action plans of the model's progressive stages. When considering the reading to learn could be run as a program in the school, in this study, the basic model of the indirected strategy is devised with four steps of 'preparing-designing-implementing-evaluating'. And the implementing stage of the read to learn combining reading and writing is consisted of six steps as 'selecting subjects-considering contents-searching-writing-correcting-publishing'. Also, proper indirected strategies such as graphic organization and checklists are suggested in order to assist reading and writing activities in the implementing stage.

For decades, general services and accounting officers have been dominant forces in collection development activities in college and university libraries in Korea. The role of certified librarians has been rather peripheral. This has been allowed by the fact that library acquisitions departments had to be headed by non-librarian general administrative officers by the government regulation. The philosophy behind this regulation was that acquiring library materials was not any different from simple purchasing act of other useful goods in the marketplace. In affiliation with the element of general administrative officers, domestic book-sellers also had a great influence in collection building activities in college and university libraries in Korea. This has been made possible by the fact that no other people could su n.0, pply library materials, especially foreign library materials. It has been pointed out for years that the mechanism in which general administrative officers and domestic book-sellers had a greater say in library acquisitions activities was especially inefficient in acquiring wanted materials in wanted speed and in wanted price. In this mechanism, books and periodicals were mere goods. They were not perceived as intellectual property holding information and knowledge in them. Since the student movement to revolutionize the library system of the Pusan National University, September 1987 to December 1988, the creative and progressive elements in this university library have been making great efforts to change the acquisitions system in this library into a more efficient one by putting certified librarians at the center of the whole acquisitions process. These efforts have been successful to a certain degree. In this discursive study of the case of the Pusan National University Library, I have tried to achieve a social description of the library process in which progressively motivated librarians succeeded in alienating administrative officers and book-sellers and in grasping in their hands the hegemony in the collection building aspect of library activities. It has been discovered that this was possible only when the librarians were mature enough to have their kind of professionalism, i.e., professional ethics and craftsmanship.

The purpose of this study is to structure the system of reading strategy contents and seek a subject linkage method through using it. In order to establish the contents of reading strategy, the 2015 Korean High School Revised National Curriculum's contents system and advanced research were looked at. From that curricula, text areas(the types and fields, meaning structure) and cognitive strategy(reading methods and skills) are deduced and categorized. In addition to reading techniques reorganized by referring to worksheets of advanced researches, the system of reading strategy contents was made. As the result of applying it to the learning activities of "he Integrated Society" and "he Integrated Science" a subject linkage to learn the learning contents proposed providing a variety of reading materials related to the subject and running extended reading programs.

In recent years, universities as higher education institutions have counted upon social accountability that assure their educational performance and quality. University assessment accreditation are being used internationally as a means to ensure the accountability. Current trends in American accreditation standards emphasize student learning outcomes such as problem solving, critical analysis, creativity instead of inputs such as physical and human resources. Also, American accreditation standards underscore the importance of information literacy as a learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to compare and to analysis accreditation standards of Korea and American in the view point of library and information literacy. This study suggest basic directions how to apply these information literacy in accreditation standards of Korea. The accreditation standards of Korea need to reflect information literacy in terms of to enhance learning outcomes. In particular, this accreditation standards has to include collaboration between librarian and faculty within standard for accreditation.

The purpose of this study is to understand student's reading motivation by laying out self-selected reading program and running it at school libraries. The self-selected reading program based on self-determination theory ensures the autonomy of book selection. The self-selected reading program in this study provided a number of scope and recommended book lists in order to ensure the autonomy of book selection and developed integrated reading and writing. After finishing this program, the author measured 6 domains of reading motivation with participated students who completed this course. As a result, it turned out that autonomous motive domains excessively surpassed heteronomous motive domains. Such autonomy of book selection, one of the key features from self-selected reading programs, is expected to help making the best use of school library collections by recommended book lists and stimulating stable and sustainable reading habits driven by self-motivation.

This study aims to identify the effects of teachers' recognition and application of 2015 revised national curriculum on their educational information needs in high schools. Several in-depth interviews and a questionnaire survey with the teachers, who were in charge of teaching common courses, such as Korean language, mathematics, English, social studies, and science, in general public high schools in Incheon, were executed for the purpose. As a result, the teachers' recognition and application affected their educational information needs in part. Especially, new demands on small sized copies and learning information sources were identified which were related to the application of 2015 revised national curriculum. Based on the results, we proposed several improvements of school library operations, such as small sized local consortium for sharing resources and providing referral services, in order to strengthen the gateway role of school libraries.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of learning space Servicescape on the user satisfaction level and continuance intention and to identify moderating effect of the learning activity. The six Servicescape factors are selected after literature review and in-depth interviews; cleanliness, comfort, convenience, aesthetics, accessibility, and flexibility. The online survey is given to the university students at four-year private universities in Seoul metropolitan area. The result shows that among the learning space Servicescape factors, cleanliness, comfort, convenience, and accessibility have a significant impact on the user's satisfaction and the user's satisfaction response determines the continuance intention to the learning space. It is also found that the factors of cleanliness and comfort have a negative moderating effect on user satisfaction. This study implies that the result provides methods to develop the space arrangement for university libraries that provide the better-support to students' learning experience.

Such future-oriented institutions that put together the functions of a library, archive, and museum are being actively introduced overseas recently and are called LAM, GLAM, and media tech. In South Korea, the term larchiveum, combining library, archive, and museum, is widely used. Therefore, this study explores a case study followed to determine larchiveums in service both home and abroad. The researcher then conducted an interview with librarians, archivists, and curators working for the larchiveums selected as the South Korean cases for the study to understand the meaning of a larchiveum. Additional interviews were conducted with five users that visited a larchiveum in the nation and uploaded posts on a social media platform to understand their perceptions of a larchiveum and problems with the purpose, functions, and services of it. Based on the analysis results, the study proposes vitalization plans for the management of a larchiveum in three aspects: improving the internal and external awareness, securing budgets and manpower for space enhancement and service, and reinforcing the integrated management of a larchiveum via a devoted organization.

The purpose of this study is to identify elementary school teachers' needs for access points when searching for picture books to be used as teaching media, and suggest ways to improve DLS(Digital Library System) in school libraries. To achieve this purpose, the study examined the access points provided by OPAC(Online Public Access Catalog) systems in seven domestic and foreign libraries. In addition, it conducted an online survey with elementary school teachers, and a total of 220 responses were finally analyzed. It was found that the most needed access points were topic, grade/age, content, subject/chapter, and cross-curricula learning topics, etc. Based on the results, this study suggests providing the most needed access points in DLS, developing controlled vocabulary tools, and improving system functions or the interface to enhance accessibility to picture books.

This study analyzed the process of multimedia services and indexed the core quality characteristics through the tools employed in 'Define' and 'Measure' steps of the 6 Sigma DMAIC methodology. To achieve the goal, as a case study of 'S' University Central Library, first, brainstorming technique was used to tap the librarians, second, interview with the half-time student workers, third, user's opinion on homepage was analyzed and lastly, the interview with the users. This study also drew some potential causal factors which would likely to affect the multimedia service using Process Map and C&E Diagram. Those factors were prioritized using X-Y matrix and Pareto Chart. This study revealed 14 factors affecting multimedia services: 'presence/absence of the persons who are in charge of selection', 'cycle of selection materials', 'presence/absence of seperated multimedia room', 'materials arrangement method', 'notification of popular materials', 'notification of documents arrivals', 'methods of noticing new arrivals', 'methods of ordering materials', 'cycle of checking order status', 'types of persons requesting materials', 'methods of requesting materials', 'checking of the status of the returned materials', 'methods of noticing materials in housed', and 'methods of ways to return overdue materials'.
