  • This study was conducted to investigate the level of moral sensitivity, critical thinking disposition and perceived ethical confidence, as well as to identify the factors influencing the perceived ethical confidence in nursing students. The study evaluated 170 nursing students in D Province from May 16-20, 2016. Data were analyzed using a t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression. The mean score of the perceived ethical confidence was $3.54({\pm}0.51)$, the moral sensitivity was $4.92({\pm}0.59)$ and the critical thinking disposition was $3.45({\pm}0.39)$. There were positive correlations between the perceived ethical confidence and moral sensitivity (r=0.410, p<0.001) and critical thinking disposition (r=0.523, p<0.001). The significant factors influencing the perceived ethical confidence were moral sensitivity and critical thinking disposition, which explained 33.2% of the variance in perceived ethical confidence. Based on these findings, programs and teaching methods that develop moral sensitivity and critical thinking disposition are necessary for college nursing students to promote perceived ethical confidence.

It was significant in that it was confirmed that interest and importance, moral behavior, academic background, and career are variables that influence clinical decision-making ability. The results of this study can be utilized as basic data for the development of intervention plans and programs that can increase clinical decision-making ability in the context of an ethical dilemma. In addition, developing and verifying educational programs that can increase clinical decision-making abilities in ethical dilemmas is needed.

  • This study was conducted to identify the factors influencing consciousness of biomedical ethics, moral sensitivity and critical thinking disposition with respect to the Code of Ethics of nurses among nursing students. A descriptive correlation research design was used for this study. The subjects were 299 nursing students in two large cities from 1 June to 31 July 2015. Collected data were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test and stepwise multiple regression by the SPSS 22.0 program. The results revealed that female subjects comprised 86.65% of the subjects and the mean age was 21.67 years. Awareness of the Code of Ethics for nurses was positively correlated with the consciousness of biomedical ethics(p<0.001), moral sensitivity(p<0.001), and critical thinking disposition(p<0.001). However, there were negative correlations between grade(p=0.017), marital state(p=0.012), and the possibility of increasing ethical problems according to the development of bioscience(p=0.012). Significant influencing factors of the awareness of the Code of Ethics for nurses included grade(p=0.013), marital state(p=0.030), consciousness of biomedical ethics(p=0.017), moral sensitivity(p<0.001), and critical thinking disposition(p=0.001), with apower of explanation of 26.3%. The results of this study show that the consciousness of biomedical ethics, moral sensitivity and critical thinking disposition are factors influencing the code of ethics for nurses among nursing students.

  • Every big online security breach seems to end in a big lecture. Thus, although a predominant weakness in properly securing information assets is the individual user within an organization, much of the focus of extant security research is on technical issues. The purpose of this study is to explain why insiders breach security policy by applying the moral disengagement theory. There are no consistent, widely accepted theories or theoretical frameworks in the literatures as to why insiders breach of information security, and therefore no clear, effective guidance on what to do to prevent employees from violating information security policy in organization. To do this, we theorize that moral disengagement may play a mediating role connecting stable individual differences to intention to breach security policy, because of some of the individual differences. We found that policy awareness and perceived punishment have a negatively significant effect on moral disengagement. However, negative affectivity has a positively significant influence on moral disengagement. Furthermore, moral disengagement has a positive effect on intention to breach security policy. Conclusions and implications are discussed.

  • This study is a descriptive survey study that attempted to confirm clinical nurses' consciousness of biomedical ethics, moral sensitivity, critical thinking deposition, and nursing ethics code of clinical nurses, as well as to identify the factors influencing the recognition of the nursing code of ethics. The general and ethical characteristics of the subject were calculated by frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and the difference for each variable according to the general and ethical characteristics was analyzed using SAS 9.4, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA, and Scheffé test. The average, standard deviation, and the minimum and maximum values were used for the scores of each variable, and the correlation was determined using the Pearson correlation coefficient. Multiple regression was used to identify the factors that influence the recognition of the nurse's code of ethics. All variables showed significant correlations. Critical thinking deposition (p<.05) was the most influential variable in recognizing the code of ethics for nurses. Critical thinking deposition (p<.001), consciousness in biomedical ethics (p<.001), and moral sensitivity (p<.001) were shown to be affected in order, with 27.4% explaining power. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and apply educational programs to clinical nurses that can improve critical thinking, life and bioethics, and moral sensitivity.

  • This study was conducted to determine how analytic-holistic thinking style, one of the cultural characteristics, affects intentionality judgment and what role the crime typicality plays in the process. To this end, the psychological mechanism of intentionality judgment was confirmed in cases where the criminal typicality was manipulated by the moral characteristics of the crime perpetrator and victim. As a result, higher the criminal typicality lead to higher intentionality judgement. In addition, it was found that people with relatively holistic thinking style (with high causality and perception of change) judge less of the perpetrator intentionality. In particular, it was confirmed that the analytic-holistic thinking style interacts with criminal typicality and affects the intentionality judgment. Specifically, people with a holistic thinking style (high causality) judged the perpetrator to have high intentionality in typical cases, but judged in a reverse way in atypical cases. It means that, holistic thinkers, compared to analytic thinkers, strongly judge intentionality based on criminal typicality considering the moral characteristics of not only the perpetrators but also the victims. Along with the significance of this study, the relationships among analytic-holistic thinking style, criminal typicality and intentionality judgment were discussed.
