Experimental Verification of a Liquid Damper with Changeable Natural Frequency for Building Response Control (고유진동수 조절이 가능한 액체댐퍼의 건물응답 제어실험)

  • This study deals with the experiments of liquid dampers with multi cells whose vertical tubes are divided into several square columns for easily changing natural frequencies. Shaking table test is performed to verify control effectiveness of the dampers which are installed on a building structure. To design liquid dampers, a 64-story building structure is reduced to a SDOF structure with 1/20 of similitude laws based on acceleration. The structure model is made up to adjust its mass and stiffness easily, with separate mass and drive parts. Mass parts indicate real structure's weights and drive parts indicate real structure's stiffness with springs and LM guides. Manufactured liquid damper has 18 cells and its natural frequency ranges are 0.65Hz to 0.81Hz. Shaking table test is carried out with one way excitation to compare with only accelerations of a large-scale structure and a structure installed with liquid dampers. Control performance of the liquid damper is expressed by the transfer function from shaking table accelerations to the large-scale structure ones. Testing results show that the liquid damper reduced a large-scale structure's response by tuned natural frequencies.

  • Tall building construction has been increasing due to the need to maximize land usage. It causes the increase of vertical transportation for workers and materials, which significantly affects the productivity and lifting planning, therefore, has to be made carefully based on the characteristics of the field. However, the existing method to calculate the number of lift is too simple to consider complex and various characteristics in tall building construction. Accordingly, we developed the model for selecting the best system of vertical transportation by using Queueing theory. To find out the situation of the queue of resources such as material and workers, a simulation program will be applied.

  • There is a tremendous need for an effective indoor facility management since the building are tend to be built taller and bigger due to latest technology, Also, information that is continuously used and transferred during the design and construction phase is emerging due to 3D object-oriented CAD. Therefore, a system that will use such information for facility management should be developed. In this study, we present the methodology for definition the process that generates the Space Network Model automatically and examine the effective value of it.

  • This paper shows a reasonable power density, that was made by the systematic and statistical way considering actual conditions, such as investigated power consumption capacity for the year and peak power, contract power for the last 5 years of each customer for 23 general customers all data obtained by AMR. In this dissertation, it is necessary to analyze the key features from the investigated data. It made an analysis of the feature parameters, such as average, standard deviation, median, maximum, minimun and load factor.

  • RFID and USN are major technology in Ubiquitous. RFID is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders through RFID reader. USN is wireless sense network and monitoring environment conditions that is temperature, noise, pressure, oscillation. In this paper, we propose wireless sensor network system that is monitoring to optimize environment conditions.

  • Recently, Housing projects in the center of the Metropolis are getting higher, larger, more complex gradually, the resources are increasing greatly. Especially, the right manpower in the right place could quite important factor because the construction cites are wide and many subcontractors and labors throw into finish works in High-rise Housing projects. Differing from apartment building projects. it is only four or five years that high rise building projects are started so, there is little data for manpower information. Furthermore it is difficult that the data gathering and managing because manpower management is usually used to execute by subcontractors from supply to demand. Consequently, this study, proposed develop management for accurate manpower plan and efficient collection and practical use of manpower information through analysis of present condition in construction sites

  • 3D based information is demanded increasingly as cities grow three dimensionally and buildings become large and complex. The use of 3D GIS is also getting attention as fundamental data for ubiquitous computing applications such as location-based guidance, path finding and emergency escaping. However, most 3D modeling techniques are focused on the visualization of buildings or terrains and do not have topological structures required in spatial analyses. In this paper, we introduce a method to incorporate topological relationship into 3D models by combining 2D GIS layers and 3D model. We divide indoor spaces of a 3D model into discrete objects and then define the relationship with corresponding features in 2D GIS layers through database records. We also show how to construct hallways network in the 2D-3D integrated building model. Finally, we test different cases of route finding situations inside a building such as normal origin-destination path finding and emergency evacuation.

  • 대형태풍 카트리나가 준 주요 교훈 중의 하나는, 위험도 분석에 기반한 종합적인 재해경감 프로그램의 중요성이다. 미국에서는 이를 위해 다양한 위험도 분석(risk analysis) 프로그램 개발에 노력해 왔다. HAZUS(Hazarda-US) 프로그램은 대표적인 자연재해 예측 시스템으로서, 위험요인 파악(hazard identification), 지역사회의 취약성 분석(vulnerability of the society), 그리고 피해결과예측(loss estimation)의 세 가지 요소로 구성된다. 1992년 지진을 대상으로 개발된 이 프로그램은 현재, 지진 홍수 허리케인 윈드에 대해 피해예측을 할 수 있는 HAZUS-MH MR3가 사용 중에 있다. FEMA에서는 주정부에서 HAZUS를 활용, 피해 예측에 기반한 재해경감 정책을 추진할 수 있도록 다양한 재정적 기술적 지원을 하고 있다. 이에 따라, 2004년 머릴랜드 주에서는 미국 최초로 주 전역에 걸친 홍수피해 예측을 실히하고 이를 바탕으로 다양한 경감정책을 추진하였다. 머릴랜드 주정부에서 Salisbury 대학에 의뢰하여 수행한 홍수 피해 예측 과정은, 조사구역 및 위험요인(홍수) 결정, 사용 데이터 확정, 수문학적 분석, 수리학적 분석, 피해예측(건물 용도별 피해면적, 건물 용도별 피해액, 건물 재질별 피해면적, 건물 재질별 피해액, 지역의 경제학적 피해)의 과정으로 수행되었다. 홍수피해 예측 결과, 100년 빈도 홍수가 재현될 경우, 주 전체 면적 중 13%이상의 지역에서 약 80조 이상의 피해액이 예측됨에 따라, 종합적인 재해경감 대책의 필용성이 제기되었다. 이에 따라, 머릴랜드 주정부에서는 홍수피해예측 결과를 토대로, 주정부 재해경감 예산 재분배, 홍수터 보호, 건물규제 강화, 토지이용계획 재조정 등 보다 과학적이고 종합적인 재해경감 프로그램을 추진하였다. 머릴랜드 주정부의 이번 연구는 주정부로서는 최초로 HAZUS를 활용하여 주 전역에 걸친 피해예측을 실시한 것으로서, 피해예측 시스템이 어떻게 주정부의 과학적 피해경감 프로그램에 기여할 수 있는 지를 보여주는 사례이다.
