Effect of Employment Support Program on College Student's Grit and Employment Preparation Behavior (대학생들의 그릿과 취업준비행동에 취업지원 프로그램이 미치는 효과)

  • This study confirmed the effect of the employment support program on college students' grit and employment preparation behavior, and confirmed the post-program experience, change, and need for employment support. Data from a total of 39 people who participated in the employment support program were analyzed. The employment support program was conducted for 8 weeks starting August 29, 2022. A survey were conducted before and after the program, and interviews were conducted with 8 people afterwards. Descriptive statistics and t-test were used for data analysis, and interview content was analyzed. As a result of the study, the participants' employment preparation behavior significantly increased after the employment support program was implemented. Also, the employment support program helped prepare for realistic employment and set a direction, and improved confidence in employment. Therefore, expansion of employment support programs and customized employment support to improve college students' employment capabilities are necessary.

  • Due to the economic recession and corporation's growth without more jobs, college graduates unemployment issue has been emerged as a serious social problem. Since the employment rate of each college became an important factor of college evaluation by the government, each college is trying to increase the employment rate of students. Therefore universities are supporting student employment through various policies and programs. However there have been perception differences in intention of employment supporting activities, final results, preparedness, student satisfaction level and overall effectiveness level of program between students and university career center staff members. The perception differences may lead not only to the waste of budget but also ineffectiveness of various programs to promote student employment. Therefore this research proposed new revised efficient employment supporting programs of universities and desirable attitude of students to increase the effectiveness of student employment based on the analysis of perception level on the several issues such as degree of usefulness of program and satisfaction level of students.

Ego Resilience, Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy and Job Seeking Stress of Senior Nursing Students (간호대학생 고학년의 자아탄력성, 진로결정자기효능감과 취업스트레스)

  • This study examined the relationships among ego resilience, career decision-making self-efficacy and job-seeking stress of senior nursing students. Data was collected through self-reporting questionnaire to 175 nursing students 3rd and 4th grade. Stepwise multiple regression revealed grade, career decision-making self-efficacy, satisfaction on university life to be significant predictors of job-seeking stress. These variables accounted for 13.5% of job-seeking stress. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the job-seeking stress of senior nursing students through multidisciplinary intervention which strengthens career decision-making self-efficacy considering grade, satisfaction on university life.

  • With the change into knowledge-based society and infinite competition, sharp employment competition causes anxiety about their own future among college students going into society, consequently making their employment one of the greatest social problems. As schemes of improving the employment rate for seniors at the department of health science, department professors are required to reinforce employment-related interviews as a provider of information about employment and colleges need to set and implement a specific support plan, for example, by encouraging trips for employment guidance at diverse regions. As an effort for qualitative improvement, colleges are required to develop an employment-based curriculum and support basic employment preparations and academic advisers need to serve as a guide specializing in employment as well as an employment-related information provider.

Influence of Employment Stress and Psychological Well-being on Career Decision Efficacy in University Students' (대학생들의 취업스트레스와 심리적안녕감이 진로결정효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the factors that stress for getting a job and psychological well-being affect career decision efficacy of college students. In order to accomplish the purpose, survey was conducted on 447 college students in the city of I. The results were first, college students' stress for getting a job, psychological well-being, and career decision efficacy didn't have difference by the distinction of sex. Second, some significant difference was present on college students' stress for getting a job, psychological well-being, and career decision efficacy by grade levels. Third, some meaningful correlation was shown on college students' stress for getting a job, psychological well-being, and career decision efficacy. Fourth, college students' stress for getting a job and psychological well-being have a positive impact on their career decision efficacy. As seen in such results, in the course of career search and choice, stress for getting a job and psychological well-being was shown as positive variables. When college students are making a decision on their career, their career decision efficacy can be an important factor of career counseling.

Analysis of Convergent Influence of Job Seeking Stress, Academic Burnout and Anxiety on Depression among College Students using Structural Equation Model (구조방정식 모형을 이용한 일개 대학생의 취업스트레스, 학업소진 및 불안이 우울에 미치는 융합적인 영향 분석)

  • This study attempted to identify convergent influence on depression and its association with job seeking stress, academic burnout and anxiety among college students. Data collection was carried out using a self-administered questionnaire from Nov. 12, 2018 to Dec. 14, 2018 and the target was randomly selected 304 students from colleges located in J area. Depression was positively correlated with job seeking stress, academic burnout and anxiety. The covariance structure analysis showed that the job seeking stress, the higher academic burnout and the higher anxiety tend to increase depression. These results show that to lower college students' depression, it is necessary to try to lower job seeking stress, academic burnout, and anxiety. These results are expected to be utilized for employment counseling, academic counseling, and expansion of resources for psychological stability and various interventions that lower the depression of college students. In future studies, the survey about additional factors of influence on the depression of college students will be needed.

Influence of Parent Attachment on Internet Addiction: Mediating Effect of Job-seeking Stress (대학생들의 부모애착이 인터넷 중독에 미치는 영향: 취업스트레스의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effect of job-seeking stress between parent attachment and internet addiction. A total of 202 college students participated in this study. The mediating effect was analyzed through SPSS Macro and bootstrapping analysis. As a result of analysis, first, parent attachment had a significant negative effect on the job-seeking stress and internet addiction. Second, job-seeking stress had significant mediating effect within the relationship of parent attachment and internet addiction. Third, job-seeking anxiety had significant mediating effect within the relationship of parent attachment and internet addiction. Therefore, if students perceive a sense of attachment from parents, decrease the chances of internet addiction. When college students job-seeking stress occurs, and if they don't feel attachment from their parents suggests that the higher the chances of internet addiction. In addition, this implication and suggestions for future research are provided.

Affecting Factors in Unemployment Stress among College Students -Focused on Physical Symptoms, Depression, Anxiety and Self-esteem- (대학생의 취업스트레스에 영향을 미치는 요인 -신체증상, 우울, 불안, 자아존중감을 중심으로-)

  • This study examined the correlation between college students' unemployment stress and affecting factors including physical symptoms, mental health, and self-esteem. In the results, students appeared to have more stress when they were female, in higher grades, in low satisfaction in their school life, in the lack of leisure time, in inadequate preparation for employment, and when they had none of those who could share their feeling on unemployment than students in the opposite situations. Students' physical and mental health had a positive relation with unemployment stress, and self esteem had a negative relation with unemployment stress. After multivariate analysis, the factors affecting unemployment stress were senior grade and depression. On the other hand, the factors predicting low umemployment stress were male sex, high level of self esteem, and satisfaction in preparation for employment. Therefore, the counselling program for employment preparation should include intervention strategies for enhancing self-esteem besides providing with information of employment.

  • This study aimed to provide help to seeking a preventive intervention plan for lowering employment stress of university in social welfare students and improving quality of life by examining how resilience work between employment stress and quality of their life. This study investigated by carrying out purposive sampling final targeting 118 senior students majoring in social welfare at K university located in Gyeonggi-do. The Study results found that employment stress exerts a significant influence on the quality of life of university in social welfare students, and resilience has a moderating effect between employment stress and quality of life. Based on the results of this study, this study showed applicability of resilience as an internal coping resource for university students, and suggested an active intervention plan for lowering employment stress and improving quality of life.

The Influence of Job-seeking Stress, Adult Attachment and Self-assertiveness, on Depression among Korean College Students (대학생의 취업스트레스, 성인애착, 자기표현성이 우울에 미치는 영향)

  • The purposes of this study were to examine effects of job-seeking stress, adult attachment, self-assertiveness on depression among Korean college students. Data were collected through self reported structured questionnaire form 239 Korean college students by convenient sampling methods from April 20 to May 30, 2013. The mean score of depression 14.38(SD=9.81) and 27.6% of the subjects were depression risk groups. A hierarchical multiple regression showed that job-seeking stress (${\beta}$=0.31, p<.001) and adult attachment (${\beta}$=0.32, p<.001) were identified as significant predictors of depression of college students after adjusting for gender, grade, living arrangement, satisfaction for major. And these variables accounted for 34% of depression (F=12.20, p<.001). Therefore, therapeutic nursing intervention should be developed to reduce job-seeking stress and to control attachment-related anxiety, avoidance as a way to regulate depression for Korean college students.
