How has the use of academic journals changed since the academic library purchase policy changed from selective journals based on core journals to package purchases by big deal? The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of supply and size of academic journals in university libraries on the use of journals. For this purpose, this study used the actual usage statistics of e-journals of K Academic Libraries during 2013-2015. The analysis shows that there is a so-called long-tail shape in which demand shifts to niche products that are effective in online platforms. Analysis of the use of academic journals by year for three years showed that the use of electronic journals in K Academic Libraries appeared to be a perfect Pareto shape, which is concentrated in the top 20% of journals. In particular, in 2015, the top 5% of journals accounted for nearly 80% of the total usage. Despite the changes in the supply method and size of academic journals, users' use of journals was still concentrated in core journals.

The purpose of this study is to explore the establishment and administrative strategies for shared repositories for academic libraries in Korea, using the US ReCAP (Research Collections and Preservation Consortium) Project as a case study. The US ReCAP Project was a collaboration between the New York Public Library and the university libraries of Columbia University, Harvard University, and Princeton University. In-depth interviews were conducted with librarians and administrators in charge of the ReCAP Project to understand the original vision of the project, as well as how the strategy and approach evolved over the years. The analysis results revealed that shared repositories for libraries have evolved into shared collections enabling shared use. But shared repositories require a central management system to be successful in the long-term. Additionally, findings showed that the shared repository filled more quickly than anticipated. This in turn required collaborative planning on shared collection development and selection policies to determine which materials to send to the shared repository.

This study compared the behavior of using the reading room of the university library before and after COVID-19 and confirmed the changes and characteristics. As a subject of the study, 579,555 reading room usage data for the 2019-2021 school year, three years before and after the outbreak of COVID-19, were collected and analyzed for reading room utilization. In addition, the purpose of visiting the library was compared based on 120,090 data usage logs, and the relationship between the characteristics and usage rate of each reading room was analyzed. Ultimately, it is intended to suggest a way to increase utilization by reflecting the needs of users derived from changes in usage behavior during the COVID-19 period in the reading room space of the university library. It is hoped that the results of this research will be used as basic data for the operation of library reading rooms and the establishment of space reconstruction policies to cope with the New normal era after pandemic.

This study is designed to identify the knowledge information resources of international organizations and the current situation and problems of gaining and using the information resources of international organizations. The researcher made a selection of a total of 115 organizations: 59 international organizations and Professional organizations under the jurisdiction of UN, 29 intergovernmental organizations, and 27 regional organizations. The questionnaire subjects were domestic university libraries. national libraries. and professional libraries of a certain size. The researcher took a look at the current collection situations of international organization information resources, the designation of trusted libraries. the subject areas of Possessed international organizational publications. the current situations of material management and use, the demand for international information resources. The findings will hopefully be used as basic materials for the service model of official international integrate information organization.

This study was conducted to explore pending issues as an obstacle factor in the library growth and progress through measurement of Korean and Chinese College undergraduates' perception on the library, and suggest its countermeasure to that the study result showed that their perception to the library's social and cultural function was low, so the library's cultural events need to be consolidated to enhance perception, and the Korean student's study zeal was lower than Chinese, and amny students did not go to the library, but an incentive is needed to escalate the strength of course study or the library availability. Also a countermeasure should be established such as a class link project through continuing specialized librarians' training strengthened, users' group education for the satisfaction enhancement and validity of the information service users.

The user satisfaction of environmental facilities, collection, library services including webpage, etc. by using KSDC program provided by Korea Social Science Data Center has been analysed in this study. Also, the undergraduate students using P-academic library on December 2017 were sampled and analysed in this study. ANOVA etc. were used for testing wether gender, academic level and major of students affect the satisfaction, and Pearson correlation coefficient was used for testing the relation among the variables in the attached questionnaire. The major conclusions of this study are: (1) The policy development for the library use of male undergraduate students is needed. (2) The special counterplan to improve the user accessibility is needed. (3) Also, environmental facilities is absolutely needed when planning to improve user satisfaction. Besides, the development plan prepared after analysing the user opinions in essay form was suggested in this paper, too.

This study empirically analyzed the recognition and current status of university libraries related to the legal deposit of thesis and dissertation and investigated the ways to activate legal deposit to National Assembly Library. As a result, most universities conduct legal deposit of thesis and dissertation. However, most librarians face difficulties resulted from the duplication of deposits to many institutions. In the case that the deposits are not made, the main reasons are the university library's policies, duplication and inefficiency of the deposit procedures, and the limitation of obtaining copyright agreements. In order to address these limitations and to maximize the social and informational values of thesis and dissertation, this research proposed approaches to legal deposit of thesis and dissertation, including strengthening digital deposit system through the establishment of independent legal deposit law, preparing the effective ways of preservation. constructing an integrated deposit system, and developing professional collection of thesis and dissertation which can consolidate National Assembly Library.

Since the recent financial crisis in universities has caused the decrease of academic library budget, the resource sharing has been considered by utilizing inter-library loan (ILL) data for solving the financial deficit. This study aims to identify the collection profiles of western monographs' ILL data among 4-year academic libraries. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, this study analyzes ILL data from 2011 to 2017 using the bibliographic data and ILL transactions of the KERIS union catalog. The findings of the study show that the western monographs was significantly provided by large-scale academic libraries in 2011, however, the extent of major regions expanded, and the number of influential institutions rose in 2016. Second, in 2012, the influence in the ILL network increased in the quantity of western monographs holdings and the proportion of common collections. On the other hand, in 2016, it was also shown that the influence in terms of provision in the ILL network increased in the proportion of unique collections. Lastly, the ILL participating academic libraries were classified into six clusters by a hierarchical clustering analysis of holdings and ILL indexes.

This study conducted a awareness survey of librarians by type of library. analyzed the survey results to present the rationale for establishing policies for the collaborative preservation and effective use of library materials. As a result of the analysis, the general awareness of the librarians about the collaborative preservation archive was high regardless of the characteristics of each type of library. the regional Central library was suitable as the main body of the collaborative preservation operation at the regional level.

The data-driven research environment is rapidly changing. Accordingly, domestic university libraries are also preparing to establish and operate research data management services to support university researchers. This study was designed to propose a research data management service to support researchers in science and technology specialized university libraries. In order to propose the service, 11 universities specializing in science and technology were selected from overseas and domestic universities and their research data management services were analyzed. Key categories were derived from analysis results, research data management, electronic research notebooks, and RDM training. In particular, the 'research data management' category included DMP, data collection, data management, data preservation, data sharing and publishing, data reuse, infrastructure and tools. And it consists of RDM guides and policies. The results of this study will be helpful in introducing and operating research data management services in science and technology specialized university libraries.
