A Study on the U-Library Service (U-도서관 서비스에 관한 연구)

  • The U-library service is a user-oriented library service through which users, after browsing and making reservations using the Internet and smartphones, can borrow and return library materials at an unmanned circulation system located in places, such as subway stations, without visiting the library. However, the U-library service is still in the early stages both quantitatively and qualitatively. In that, this study, in order to enhance our understanding of the U-library service, conceptualizes the unmanned circulation system, investigates current situation by examining and analyzing some U-library service cases, and pinpoints some problems while making some suggestions for improvement.

An Analysis of Reciprocal Borrowing Programs in the U.S. (미국의 통합대출서비스 사례 조사 및 분석)

  • As today's information environment changes rapidly with the development of information technology, users expect a variety of the library services that meet their emerging needs. This paper reports the concept of reciprocal borrowing and analyzes the cases of reciprocal borrowing programs in the US. Particularly, this paper introduces (1) three cases of state-wide library cards such as Georgia's PINES card, Maryland's MPower card, and Michigan's Michi card. (2) Public library systems in the U.S. also are introduced as a type of reciprocal borrowing. Another type of reciprocal borrowing mentioned in this paper was (3) an mutual agreement between and among libraries. The author sought the deeper understanding of reciprocal borrowing by mapping the cases described in this paper into three models of reciprocal borrowing Kwak et al.(2010) suggested. This paper concludes with a few important considerations in implementing reciprocal borrowing services in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the problems of the reciprocal borrowing service in Korea and to develop the reciprocal borrowing model. Using interview and survey method were used for collecting data. Results show that public librarian had positive thought about reciprocal borrowing service and there were many problems to solve before operating the service. Main problems were: leaking of private information, responsibility of lost materials, budget and staff, borrowing regulation, non-competitive libraries. Also three reciprocal borrowing system models were introduced: integrated system model, distributed system model, and reciprocal arrangement model.

A Study on the Book Circulation Rules of Public Library in Korea (전국 공공도서관 대출규정 조사 연구)

  • Regardless of East and West, public libraries provide various services to their communities based on collections. The decisive reason for local residents to visit public libraries is to access and borro w collections. An important condition maintenance to support these activities and services is the library circulation(usage) rules. Therefore, this study compared and analyzed the library membership, maximum loan items, loan period, loan reserve and renewal, overdue fines, disposal of lost and damaged items, loan of non-book materials, loan regulations for the disabled. And after checking the relative deviations in connection with the library cases of major developed countries, this study proposed the improvement of circulation rules. In order to minimize public complaints about circulation services and to relieve the burden of practitioners such as personnel disadvantage due to administrative audit for non-recoverable ite ms, public libraries must faithfully rearrange the circulation rules and regulations.

  • The library circulation service, which refers to the lending of library material outside of the library, is a basic and essential service provided by the library. However, changes in the library circulation service are being made according to a more management-oriented operation and the development of information technology. Consequently, the library faces a paradigm shift 'from library-centered service' to 'user-oriented service' and experiences changes in library circulation service due to the growth of library networks. Also, each library, in order to respond to the changes, tries to specialize the library circulation service by utilizing available library resources. In that context, this study, through the case study of the "Chack DanBi" library circulation service of Eunpyeong Public Library, investigates and analyzes the changing library circulation service according to the above perspectives; seeks the meaning of the service; and aims at enhancing our understanding of the library circulation service.

A Study of User Behaviors Based on Data from the Beopmaru, Supreme Court Library of Korea (법원도서관 법마루 도서대출 데이터 기반 이용자 연구)

  • This study analyzed the Beopmaru, Supreme Court Library of Korea, circulation data to identify user lending patterns and proposed a plan to reflect the analysis results in future user services. In 2022, Beopmaru's collection of books was 212,608, with law books accounting for 73%. However, general books accounted for 83% of actual circulation. Looking at the usage coefficient by topic, the literature field was the most actively used at 5.85, and the law field was the least used at 0.23. In the case of interlibrary loan, both KERIS member institutions and the Korean Bar Association had the highest loan ratios in the legal field, civil law field, and judicial litigation procedure field, in that order. However, member institutions affiliated with KERIS, a legal academic community, were lending law books on a wider range of subject areas than the Korean Bar Association, a practical organization. To improve access to legal information, the Beopmaru public service was implemented, but in reality, the use of reading space was high, and the proportion of general books loaned was much higher. In order to improve this, it seems necessary to strengthen the promotion of Beopmaru loan services, provide personalized services, improve book lending regulations, strengthen online services, and establish a cooperative network.

중소.벤처기업의 신용대출 활성화 방안

  • 우리나라 금융시장에서는 부동산담보 위주의 대출관행이 지속되고 있다. 이러한 대출관행은 부동산 수요의 유발로 부동산 가격상승의 원인이 될 뿐만 아니라 금융기관이 담보 부족을 이유로 중소 벤처기업자금 지원에 소극적이거나 기피하는 등 신용경색의 요인으로도 작용할 수 있다. 아울러 담보 부동산가격이 하락할 경우 금융기관의 부실이 될 수 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 금융기관의 낙후된 여신심사 및 사후관리기법을 선진화하고 효율적인 대출제도를 도입함으로써 중소 벤처기업의 신용수준에 부합하는 신용대출을 활성화하여야 한다. 본 연구는 중소 벤처기업의 신용대출을 활성화할 수 있는 방안들을 살펴보았다. 먼저 1980년대의 미국 및 일본의 금융위기와 이의 대응방안을 비교함으로써 담보대출의 문제점 및 개선을 위한 시사점을 살펴보았다. 다음으로 관계중시대출(relationship lending)을 통한 신용대출 활성화를 지적하였는데 관계중시대출은 금융기관이 고객과 밀접한 관계를 장기간 유지함으로써 고객에 대한 정보를 축적하여 금융서비스를 제공한다. 관계중시대출의 중소 벤처기업대출에 대한 시사점은 은행과 차입 중소 벤처기업은 긴밀한 관계유지가 장기적으로 모두에게 도움을 주는 합리적인 신뢰관계를 구축하여 신용대출을 가능하게 한다. 마지막으로 중소 벤처기업 신용대출의 활성화방안을 금융당국, 금융기관 그리고 중소 벤처기업으로 나누어서 각각 제시하였다.

Analysis and Improvement Schemes for Evening Circulation Service of Public Libraries in Korea (공공도서관 야간대출서비스의 분석과 개선방안)

  • The Korean government is pursuing the policy of broadening easy access to information by local residents and the range of public services provided to them. One of the most recent prominent examples is the evening circulation service offered by public libraries. In a sense of addressing issues facing the newly implemented service, this study aimed to present an improvement scheme on the basis of the results from analyzing the data such as background motivation, ways of publicity, service open time, service content, the present status of use of materials, satisfaction of users, and operating difficulties experienced, which were attained from the public libraries implementing the service as of June 2009 and the service users.

Analysis of Loan Comparison Platform User's Default Risk (대출중개 플랫폼별 고객의 채무불이행 리스크 비교)

  • In recent years, there has been a significant growth in loan comparson services offered by fintech platforms in South Korea. However, it has been reported that loan comparison platform users tend to have a higher risk of default compared to non-users. This paper investigates the difference in platform-specific credit risk factors using survival analysis models - Kaplan-Meier curves and Accelerated Failure Time (AFT) model. Our findings show that, relative to non-users, users of loan comparison platforms are characterized by elevated default rates, a greater propensity for home ownership, lower credit scores, and shorter loan durations. Furthermore, our AFT models elucidate the variance in default risk among the various loan comparison service platforms, highlighting the imperative for customized strategies that address the unique risk profiles of customers on each platform.

Analysis of Circulation Measures based on Circulation Data of Colleges in a University (단과대학별 도서관 장서 활용 현황 분석을 위한 대출데이터 기반 대출지수 비교)

  • Circulation data is a key data set of academic libraries in terms of collection development and service improvement This study aims to identify the characteristics of circulation measures and their feasibility. This study collected the circulation data of 10 colleges in a university and analyzed 4 measures based on the circulation data: circulation frequency, circulation entropy, circulation h-index, and circulation divergence. These measures are to present the circulation topics of each college. This study identified that circulation entropy tends to present general topics which are popular for many colleges, but circulation divergence tends to present specific topics which are preferred by a specific college.
