The new laser scanning technology allows to attain 3D information faster with higher accuracy on surface ground, vegetation and buildings of the earth surface. This acquired information can be used in many areas after modifying them appropriately by users. The contour production for accurate landform is an advanced technology that can reveal the mountain area landscapes hidden by the trees in detail. However, if extremely precise LiDAR data is used in constructing the contour, massive-sized data intricates the contour diagram and could amplify the data size inefficiently. This study illustrates the algorithm producing contour that is filtered in stages for more efficient utilization using the LiDAR contour produced by the detailed landscape data. This filtering stages allow to preserve the original landscape shape and to keep the data size small. Point Filtering determines the produced contour diagram shape and could minimize data size. Thus, in this study we compared experimentally filtered contour with the current digital map(1:5,000).
This study is to performed to find the optimum mix proportion of the high strength and self compacting concrete for the above-ground LNG storage tank construction and field application. If LNG storage tank wall thicknesscan be reduced, the construction cost and quality can be improved by using self-compacting high strength concrete with compressive strength 60~80 MPa. For this purpose, low heat cement (Type IV) and class F fly ash are used in concrete mix to control hydration heat, flowability, and viscosity. Mix design variables of unit water, fly ash replacement ratio, water-binder ratio, and fine aggregate ratio are selected and tested for material properties and manufacturing cost of the concrete. Also, fly ash replacement ratio is considered using confined water ratio test. The test results showed that the optimum mix proportion of the self-compacting high strength concrete characteristics are as follows. 1) In case of the concrete with specified compressive strength of 60 MPa, the optimum mix proportion is fly ash replacement ratio of 20% and water- binder ratio of 27~30%. 2) In case of the concrete with the strength of 80 MPa, the optimum mix proportion is fly ash replacement ratio of 10% and water-binder ratio 25%. But unit water and fine aggregate ratio are 165 $kg/m^3$ and $51{\pm}2%$, respectively, regardless of the traget concrete compressive strength range. Also, test results showed that concrete manufacturing cost of 60 MPa and 80 MPa concrete require additional costs of 14~22% and 33%, respectively, compared to the manufacturing cost of 40 MPa concrete. Therefore, application of the self-compacting high strength concrete has proven to be economical in the perspective of the material cost, quality control, and site management.
This study aims to develop a video-based smart utterance deep analyser (SUDA) application that analyzes semiautomatically the utterances that child and mother produce during interactions over time. SUDA runs on the platform of Android, iPhones, and tablet PCs, and allows video recording and uploading to server. In this device, user modes are divided into three modes: expert mode, general mode and manager mode. In the expert mode which is useful for speech and language evaluation, the subject's utterances are analyzed semi-automatically by measuring speech and language factors such as disfluency, morpheme, syllable, word, articulation rate and response time, etc. In the general mode, the outcome of utterance analysis is provided in a graph form, and the manger mode is accessed only to the administrator controlling the entire system, such as utterance analysis and video deletion. SUDA helps to reduce clinicians' and researchers' work burden by saving time for utterance analysis. It also helps parents to receive detailed information about speech and language development of their child easily. Further, this device will contribute to building a big longitudinal data enough to explore predictors of stuttering recovery and persistence.
Highway is mainly in charge of middle-long distance of vehicular travel. Trip length has shown a growing trend due to increased commute distances by the relocation of public agencies. For this reason, the proportion of driver-driven accidents, caused by their fatigue or sleepiness, are very high on highways. However, existing studies related to accident prediction have mainly considered external factors, such as road conditions, environmental factors and vehicle factors, without driving behavior. In this study, we suggested an accident index (FDR, Fatigued Driving Rate) based on traffic behavior using large-scale Car Navigation path data, and exlpored the relationship between FDR and traffic accidents. As a result, FDR and traffic accidents showed a high correlation. This confirmed the need for a paradigm shift (from facilities to travel behavior) in traffic accident prediction studies. FDR proposed in this study will be utilized in a variety of fields. For example, in providing information to prevent traffic accidents (sleepiness, reckless driving, etc) in advance, utilization of core technologies in highway safety diagnostics, selection of priority location of rest areas and shelter, and selection of attraction methods (rumble strips, grooving) for attention for fatigued sections.
ArangoDB is a NoSQL database system that has been popularly utilized in many applications for storing large amounts of data. In order to apply a new NoSQL database system such as ArangoDB, to real work environments we need a benchmarking system that can evaluate its performance. In this paper, we design and implement a ArangoDB based benchmarking system that measures a kernel level performance well as an application level performance. We partially modify YCSB to measure the performance of a NoSQL database system in the cluster environment. We also define three real-world workload types by analyzing the existing materials. We prove the feasibility of the proposed system through the benchmarking of three workload types. We derive available workloads in ArangoDB and show that performance at the kernel layer as well as the application layer can be visualized through benchmarking of three workload types. It is expected that applicability and risk reviews will be possible through benchmarking of this system in environments that need to transfer data from the existing database engine to ArangoDB.

Korea is experiencing a rapid increase in electricity consumption due to rapid economic development, and many power transmission towers are installed to provide smooth power supply. The high-voltage transmission line is mainly made of aluminum stranded wire, and the wire is loosely guided so that some deflection is maintained. The degree of deflection has a great influence on the quality of the construction and the life of the cable. As the time passes, the shrinkage and expansion occur repeatedly due to the weight of the cable and the surrounding environment. Therefore, periodic monitoring is essential for the management of the power transmission line. In this study, the power transmission lines were monitored using 3D laser scanning technology. The data of the power transmission line of the study area was acquired and the point cloud type 3D geospatial information of the transmission line was extracted through data processing. The length of the transmission line and deflection amount were calculated using the 3D geospatial information of the transmission line, and the distance from the surrounding obstacles could be calculated effectively. The result of study shows the utilization of 3D laser scanning technology for transmission line management. Future research will contribute to the efficiency of transmission line management if a transmission line monitoring system using 3D laser scanning technology is developed.

Open Data Cube(ODC) has been emerging and developing as the open source platform in the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites(CEOS) for the Global Earth Observation System of Systems(GEOSS) deployed by the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), ODC can be applied to the deployment of scalable and large amounts of free and open satellite images in a cloud computing environment, and ODC-based country or regional application services have been provided for public users on the high performance. This study first summarizes the status of ODC, and then presents concepts and some considering points for linking this platform with Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT) images. For the reference, the main contents of ODC with the Google Earth Engine(GEE) were compared. Application procedures of KOMPSAT satellite image to implement ODC service were explained, and an intermediate process related to data ingestion using actual data was demonstrated. As well, it suggested some practical schemes to utilize KOMPSAT satellite images for the ODC application service from the perspective of open data licensing. Policy and technical products for KOMPSAT images to ODC are expected to provide important references for GEOSS in GEO to apply new satellite images of other countries and organizations in the future.

Many companies are executing big data analysis and utilization projects to legitimize the development of new business areas or conversion of management or technical strategies. In Korea and abroad, however, such projects are failing because they are not completed within specified deadlines, which is not unrelated to the current situation in which the knowledge base for big data project risk management from an engineering perspective is grossly lacking. As such, the current study analyzes the risk factors of big data implementation and utilization projects, in addition to finding risk factors that are highly important. To achieve this end, the study extracts project risk factors via literature review, after which they are grouped using affinity methodology and sifted through expert surveys. The deduced risk factors are structuralize using factor analysis to develop a table that categorizes various types of big data project risk factors. The current study is significant that in it provides a basis for developing basic control indicators related to risk identification, risk assessment, and risk analysis. The findings from the study contribute greatly to the success of big data projects, by providing theoretical basis regarding efficient big data project risk management.
This study examined the utility of the acoustic features of vowels as cues for the place of articulation of Korean nasal consonants. In the acoustic analysis, spectral and temporal parameters were measured at the 25%, 50%, and 75% time points in the vowels neighboring nasal consonants in samples extracted from a spontaneous Korean speech corpus. Using these measurements, linear discriminant analyses were performed and classification accuracies for the nasal place of articulation were estimated. The analyses were applied separately for vowels following and preceding a nasal consonant to compare the effects of progressive and regressive coarticulation in terms of place of articulation. The classification accuracies ranged between approximately 50% and 60%, implying that acoustic measurements of vowel intervals alone are not sufficient to predict or classify the place of articulation of adjacent nasal consonants. However, given that these results were obtained for measurements at the temporal midpoint of vowels, where they are expected to be the least influenced by coarticulation, the present results also suggest the potential of utilizing acoustic measurements of vowels to improve the recognition accuracy of nasal place. Moreover, the classification accuracy for nasal place was higher for vowels preceding the nasal sounds, suggesting the possibility of higher anticipatory coarticulation reflecting the nasal place.
Induced polarization (IP) effect is known to be caused by electrochemical phenomena at interface between minerals and pore water. Spectral induced polarization (SIP) method is an electrical survey to localize subsurface IP anomalies while injecting alternating currents of multiple frequencies into the ground. This method was effectively applied to mineral exploration of various ore deposits. Titanomagnetite ores were being produced by a mining company located in Gonamsan area, Gwanin-myeon, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Because the ores contain more than 0.4 w% vanadium, the ore deposit is called as Gwanin vanadiferous titanomagnetite (VTM) deposit. The vanadium is the most important of materials in production of vanadium redox flow batteries, which can be appropriately used for large-scale energy storage system. Systematic mineral exploration was conducted to identify presence of hidden VTM orebodies and estimate their potential resources. In geophysical exploration, laboratory geophysical measurement of rock samples is helpful to generate reliable property models from field survey data. Therefore, we performed laboratory SIP data of the rocks from the Gwanin VTM deposit to understand SIP characteristics between ores and host rocks and then demonstrate the applicability of this method for the mineral exploration. Both phase and resistivity spectra of the ores sampled from underground outcrop and drilling cores were different of those of the host rocks consisting of monzodiorite and quartz monzodiorite. Because the phase and resistivity at frequencies below 100 Hz are mainly dependent on the SIP characteristics of the rocks, we calculated mean values of the ores and the host rocks. The average phase values at 0.1 Hz were ores: -369 mrad and host rocks: -39 mrad. The average resistivity values at 0.1 Hz were ores: 16 Ωm and host rocks: 2,623 Ωm. Because the SIP characteristics of the ores were different of those of the host rocks, we considered that the SIP survey is effective for the mineral exploration in vanadiferous titanomagnetite deposits and the SIP characteristics are useful for interpreting field survey data.
