  • This study tried to investigate the effects of the adaptation of middle-aged and elderly adult learners to college life on happiness. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey and analysis were conducted on 321 middle-aged and older adults studying at two-year and four-year colleges in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Province, and the results are as follows. First, college life adaptation according to the general characteristics of middle-aged and elderly learners are higher for those in their 50s and 2nd grade in good health condition. Happiness was the highest women, 60s and those in the form of households where only couples live. Second, there is a static correlation between the adaptation of middle-aged and elderly adult learners to college life and happiness, and the correlation between satisfaction with internal growth and satisfaction with meaning was the highest. Third, it was found that middle-aged and elderly adults' adaptation to college life influenced happiness, and the adaptation to adult student relationships, which is the lower part of the adaptation to college life, had the greatest impact on happiness. The above research results suggest that the various positive experiences experienced in university life can affect happiness by easing student relationships, psychological stability, and physical tension, and improving one's own satisfaction with internal growth.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the performance of the Daegu Happiness Competency Education Program. It was confirmed that students, parents, teachers, and education professions are aware of the middle and higher level of education for happiness in Daegu in terms of the formation and operation of the curriculum. There is no significant difference between students and parents in terms of average value, and teachers' perception level is relatively high, which is understandable in that teachers are the subjects of the curriculum organization and operation. In addition, there was no statistically significant difference between the parents and the school level, but there were significant differences between students and teachers. In particular, students' and teachers' perceptions were lowered as the number of schools increased, unlike the predictions. They showed the lowest results in the special schools, autonomous schools and special schools. The reason for this is that Daegu Happiness Competency Education was implemented in 2014, and it was because there was little room to recognize and accept the new curriculum due to the burden of college entrance examination or employment. In the future, it will naturally improve as the education process is settled, but here we can find suggestions for the establishment of Daegu Happiness Competency Education.

  • Today, the paradigm of lifelong education has changed, emphasizing the role of universities as a lifelong educational institution. Re-opening a new horizon as a lifelong education institution that is not only centered on leisure education in the hierarchy where lifelong education can be afforded as before, or simply in line with changes in the social environment and the lengthened life cycle of the aging era. Let's propose a structured figure. Universities now have to create a virtuous circle structure that coexists not only with the role of the university itself, but with constant interaction with the local community. Adult learners, in particular, play a strong role in the development of their communities, so they are educated at the university to grow further and create structures that can return talent to the communities that go out into society. I should go. In the future, the university will actively open its doors to adult learners, position the university at the center of lifelong education, and in order to contribute to the development of the community, it will have to interact and cooperate with the community.

  • This research study was conducted to investigate the effect of knowledge, attitude and nursing professionalism on the confidence of the performance of nursing students who had experience with clinical practice and also to provide basic data for the development of nursing students' curriculum. The subjects who participated in this study were 286 students in the 4th year of nursing at two colleges in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. The research data was analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 program. Confidence in performance of patient safety was higher for the women than for men, and for the students of an older age and higher academic achievement. Confidence in performance of patient safety was positively related to knowledge (r=.25, p=.000), attitude (r=.39, p=.000), nursing professionalism (r=.33, p=.000) and all these had statistical significance. On the multiple regression analysis, the coefficient of determination ($R^2$) was .49 and the explanatory power of the model was 49.2% (F=24.04, p=.000). The most important factor affecting confidence in performance of patient safety was the experience of having undergone patient safety education. Based on these results, it is necessary to seek various educational methods to expand the concept of patient safety from the beginning of the undergraduate course work. Especially, we think that various education strategies such as simulation education methods or information videos are needed to develop scenarios related to patient safety.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop a Core Competency Scale for clinical nursing student educators. Methods: In this study, we constructed a conceptual framework, selected initial items, verified the content validity, conducted two rounds of Delphi expert consultation, selected secondary and tertiary items, and extracted the final items. The study included 242 clinical educators for nursing students. Item analysis, factor analysis, criterion validity, and internal consistency were used for the data analyses. Results: For the final scale, 35 items were selected and 5 factors were categorized, which together explain 61.7% of the total variance. The factors were education and evaluation, research and cooperation, ethical/legal principles, presenting leadership, and clinical practice. The scores for the scale significantly correlated with the teaching efficacy scale for clinical nursing instructors. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the 35 items was .96. Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrated that the core competency scale has good validity and reliability. This scale can be used to assess the competency of clinical educators for nursing students; hence, it will help in evaluating the relationship between the skills of clinical educators for nursing students and the self-efficacy of those students.

For achieving the purpose, surveys were conducted with 300 companies at the southern regional area to find out core work-competencies that are needed in the work places. In addition, general education curriculum from 4 universities from the same area were analyzed and compared with the survey results to examine if the university curriculum satisfy the need of work places by providing courses that nurturing work competencies. The study found that abilities to work as a team and self-regulation are the core competencies. However, the participating universities did not provide enough courses for students to achieve the core work competencies that are mostly needed in the work places. Based on the study results, the competency based-curriculum were suggested, and the process for implementing the curriculum was discussed.

To this end, in-depth interviews were conducted with 32 adult undergraduate attending colleges in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. For the study, Colaizzi's phenomenological research method was used and analyzed. As a result of the analysis, eight factors such as relation obstacle, bachelor's and curriculum operation obstacle, social recognition obstacle, study ability obstacle, college environment obstacle, economic obstacle, personal disposition obstacle, and temporal obstacle were found. Through the above research results, it was found that the college environment, which is operated mainly by general college students, is expressed as various types of obstacle for adult undergraduate who work and study at various ages and experiences. Based on the derived obstacle factors, it is expected that a follow-up study will be conducted to develop a measurement tool that can empirically explore the obstacle of adult undergraduate to adapt to college life.
