Memorial Design for Relocation Site of Steam Locomotive in Jangdan Station on Kyong-Eui Railway (경의선 장단역 증기기관차 이전지 기념공간 설계)

  • Kyong-Eui Railway used to be one of the major cross-country railways connecting Busan and Shineuiju. Being the central axis of logistics and transportation in Korea, it also signifies a symbolic meaning of the people's desire for the unification of divided Korean peninsula. A steam locomotive that had stopped in Jangdan Station was bombed out during the Korean War. The locomotive has been neglected and covered with rust in DMZ over a half century, and now is becoming a historic reminder of divided Korea. The initial design approach was based on the three main perspectives of the relocation plan of the steam locomotive in Jangdan Station which is designated as the registered cultural asset no. 78: historical significance, role of a monumental space, and influence on and from the local culture and tourism. Three design subjects were especially highlighted which would represent the identity of the cultural asset, the stream locomotive. First, a vertical watching deck was installed to provide various view points toward the locomotive while ensuring the security of visitors as well as the cultural asset. Second, the Dokgae bride area has good design potentials being on the railway. However, the site is too narrow. Thus, a new ramp and a stairway were placed responding to the existing topography so that the pedestrian environment could be secured last, to respect the local context where the locomotive was originally located, mulberry trees in the locomotive were transplanted as well. Flowering plants were planted around the display area for better ventilation to minimize the negative impact on the locomotive.

Estimation of Maximum Outward Heel Angle During Turning of Pure Car and Truck Carriers (자동차운반선 선회 중 최대 횡경사각 추정에 관한 연구)

  • The height of large car and truck carriers from the keel to the wheel house is 44 ~ 46 m, and as the car-carriers increases in size, it exhibits the 'top heavy' characteristic, where the upper section is heavier than the lower section. This study aims to estimate the maximum outward heel angle of the Golden Ray car-carrier (G-ship) during turning maneuvers for accident investigation and the prevention of similar accidents. The theoretically calculated maximum outward heel is 7.5° (at 19 kn, rudder angle 35°) with a GM of +3.0 m or higher, and 16.7° with a GM of +1.85 m. Meanwhile the experimentally modified maximum outward heel is 10.5° (at 19 kn, rudder angle 35°) with a GM of +3.0 m or higher, and 23.3° with a GM of +1.85 m. The G-ship is maneuvered during an accident at a speed of 13 kn, at starboard rudder angle of 10° to 20°, it changes course from 038°(T) to 105°(T) based on the instructions of the on-board pilot. At this time, the maximum outward heel is estimated to be between 7.8° and 10.9° at the port side, which is 2.2 times higher than the normal outward heel. In the IS code, cargo ships are required to exhibit a minimum GoM of +0.15 m or more. The maneuvered G-ship exhibits a GoM of +1.72 m. It is not maneuvered because it fails to satisfy the international GoM criteria and because its GoM is insufficient to counteract the heeling moment during the maneuver. This study is performed based on accident-investigation results from the Korea Maritime Safety Tribunal and the USCG.

Identification of Natural dyes used in 16th pink Dallryeong (Official's robe in Joseon Dynasty) Excavated from Cheonan, Chungnam (충남 천안시 출토 16세기 분홍 단령에 사용된 염재 동정)

  • Aim of this study is to identify dyestuff of the Dallryeong(official's robe in Joseon Dynasty, 16th century) excavated from Yuryang-dong, Cheonan, in 1996. For this purpose, extracted dyestuffs from Dallryeong fabric and from natural dyestuffs for red color(safflower, Sapanwood, Madder) which are presumed to have been used in the Dallryeong, are analyzed and compared by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). As a result, HPLC chromatogram of extracts of the Dallryeong's dyestuff and safflower are showed a peak at 17.5 minutes. The UV/Vis spectra of the samples are showed the maximum absorption wavelength at 519nm. This result is identical with the analysis of the previous studies on red dyestuff of safflower. In addition, the analysis of Mass Spectrometry(MS) showed the identical result of the peak with m/z 910. Following these results, excavated pink Dallryeong were considered to have been dyed with safflower.

A Study on the Towing Force of Heavy Loaded Barge against Strong Current (강조류에서 중량물 운반 부선의 예인력에 관한 연구)

  • A marine collision accident occurred at the Jin-do water way. A barge loaded with heavy equipment of Power Generation Plant was being towed at its side by two tugs "A" and "B" from Byeg-pa harbour to the designated position to be used for power generation plant near Jin-do bridge. The Power Generation Plant was 40-meters high loaded atop the barge. When the "tugs and tow" were approaching the Jin-do the bridge, the two towing tugs lost maneuvering control of the barge and it went off-course, hit first the waterway embankment and finally struck the lower part of bridge's span and post musing the barge to capsize and sunk its cargo into the sea. The bridge also suffered damages where the top of the Plant struck At the time of the accident, there was a strong tidal current at the waterway. This paper calculates the safe towing force of barges with heavy loads when traversing in a strong tidal current situation in narrow waterway.

He exhibit Confucianism ethics at the same time as point out Confucianism because Hae-wol and Eu-am is changed the emphasis at the subject of human. It is influenced pantheism and the theory of social evolution.

  • Through 7-year experiment in Korean pine stand since 1975, the followings are obtained as the results of investigation in several characters: 1. In total volume, the highest value after 1980 was shown in the control plot, which was the second one for 4 years, 1975 to 1979. 2. In the increment ratios of height, diameter at breast height(D. B. H.), and individual volume, the plot with the intermittent period of 3 years showed the higher values than any other plot.

공정압력에 따른 TaInZnO 박막 트랜지스터의 전기적 특성

  • 비정질의 Tantalum-indium-zinc oxide (TIZO) 박막 트랜지스터는 RF-sputtering 방법으로 증착되었으며 소결된 단일 타겟을 사용하였다. 증착당시 반응 가스는 알곤과 산소를 95 : 5로 섞어 반응성 스퍼터링을 진행하였으며, 1 mtorr에서 5 mtorr까지 다양한 공정압력에서 증착한 이 후 Furnace system을 통하여 $350^{\circ}C$의 온도로 1시간 동안 후열처리 공정을 진행하였다. 비정질 TIZO 박막을 활성 층으로 사용하여 제작한 박막 트랜지스터는 공정압력이 낮아짐에 따라 높은 이동도와 낮은 subthrehsold gate swing 보였다. 이러한 현상의 원인을 규명하고자 물리적, 전기적, 광학적 분석을 통하여 공정압력의 변화가 박막 트랜지스터 구동에 미치는 영향을 해석하였다. 우선 공정압력에 따른 TIZO 박막의 Ta, In, Zn, O 각각의 조성을 분석하기 위하여 Rutherford back scattering (RBS) 분석을 실시하였다. 또한 X-선 회절(X-ray diffraction)분석을 통해 열처리된 TIZO 박막은 공정압력에 따라 물리적 구조의 변화를 일으키지 않으며 모든 박막은 비정질상을 보이는 것을 확인하였다. 3.3eV의 광학적 밴드 갭은 기존에 보고되었던 비정질 산화물 반도체(InGaZnO, HfInZnO 등)와도 유사한 밴드갭을 가지고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE)분석을 통하여 전도대 이하 밴드 갭 내에 존재하는 결함상태 및 전도대에서 결함상태까지의 에너지 준위 그리고 공정압력에 따라 결함의 양과 발생되는 에너지 준위가 변화하는 현상을 관측하였다. 박막을 제조 할 때의 공정압력은 박막 내의 결함의 양 및 발생되는 에너지 준위의 변화를 야기하고 변화된 결함의 양과 발생된 에너지 준위에 따라 박막트랜지스터의 전기적 특성을 변화시킨다는 결과를 도출하였다.

선체구조설계 해석 및 진동소음해석 시스템

  • 본 연구는 CSDP-선체 CAD 시스템 개발'4' 세부과제의 일환으로 수행되었으며 세부과제는 선체 구조 설계 기능을 전산화하기 위한 목표를 설정하고 CSDP 연구사업의 첫해년도부터 지금까지 4년간 수행하였다. 1차년도('88년∼'89년)에는 그 당시까지 단편적으로 개발된 구조설계 프로그 램을 통합하여 살물선 중앙부에 대해 선급규정에 의한 종강도 부재의 배치 및 치수결정 프로그 램을 개발하였다. 2차년도('89년∼'90년)에는 1차년도의 연구결과를 힁부재 및 힁격벽 부재까지 확장하여 살물선 중앙부의 종강도 부재, 힁격벽 부재의 배치 및 치수결정 프로그램을 개발하여 살물선 중앙부의 구조설계를 지원하는 프로그램을 완성하였다. 3차년도('91년∼'92년)에는, 이 중선각 유조선에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있는 바, 동 세부과제에서도 조선소의 요구에 따라 대상 선박을 살물선에서 이중선각 유조선으로 확장하고, 기존의batch방식을 대화식으로 교체하여 선급규정(DnV, L1oyd)에 의한 종강도 부재의 설계 기능과, 간이 해석에 의한 대화식 이중선각 유조선 중앙부의 구조배치 및 치수결정 기능을 갖는 프로그램(ISSMID_T)을 개발하였다. 당해 연도인 4차년도에는, 3차년도까지 개발한 프로그램의 기능, 성능을 보완 확장하였고, 또한 조선 전용 선체 CAD시스템(AUTOKON)과의 Interface도 삼성중공업과 공동으로 개발하였다.

The Prehistoric Paintings in the Hall of Bulls of the Lascaux Cave are Identified as Arrays of Constellations and Dark Clouds

  • 프랑스 몽티냑에 위치한 라스코 동굴에는 오늘날까지 발견된 수많은 구석기시대 동굴벽화 가운데 대표적인 그림들을 보존하고 있다. 동굴 벽화는 대략 BC 15,000년 전 것으로 연구되어 왔으며 최근 몇몇 학자들에 의해서 그 가운데 몇몇 그림들이 별자리를 그린 것이라는 이론이 제기되었다. 본 논문에서는 동굴 그림 가운데 황소 전당에 그려진 벽화를 별자리로 동정해 보았다. 그 결과 이것들이 성좌화임을 발견했다. 그림은 흥미롭게도 별자리와 암흑 성간운을 구별했는데 별자리는 윤곽선으로 그린 반면 검은 성간운은 검은 바탕의 그림으로 나타냈다. 그림은 벽화들의 특징과 구도 그리고 배열순서로 볼 때 전천 성좌도를 그린 것으로 동정되었는데 이는 당시 밤하늘에 보이는 별자리들과 암흑 성간운들의 구도와 배열의 일치에서 신뢰할 수 있었다. 벽화에는 황소자리, 플레이아데스, 오리온삼성, 오리온자리-쌍둥이자리, 사자자리-처녀자리-뱀자리, 천칭자리-사수자리-전갈자리가 그려져 있으며, 특히 은하중심의 사수자리에서 고물자리에 이르는 길다란 은하평면상의 검은 암흑성간운들의 특징적 나열을 들판을 뛰어가는 검은색 동물로 나타냈다. 척도를 감안해서 볼 때, 그림의 구도와 배열순서가 밤하늘에 보이는 것과 거의 같다 할만큼 사실적으로 그려져 있어서 구석기인들이 지적능력이 오늘날 현대인들과 다를 바 없는 수준에 이르렀다고 추정된다.

  • A 41-year-old female was admitted to our hospital for self-audible wheezing sound and dyspnea. On past history, she has been suffered from chest discomfort, and treated recurrently by other hospitals. But, there was no symptomatic improvement. A stridor and mixed wheezing sound was auscultated on whole lung field. PFT revealed fixed type or variable intra- & extra-thoracic air way obstructive pattern. By bronchoscopy & bronchogram, we found web-like structure on the distal trachea. A bronchoplasty was performed and the post-operative PFT showed slight improvement & she had no more complaints.
