Multimedia service systems should have efficient capacity to serve the growing clients and new data. In the general streaming services, users can endure the small amount of time delay at the beginning of service. But they want to have good quality of service. A streaming server tries to transfer video files to clients from a repository of files in real time. The server must guarantee concurrent and uninterrupted delivery of each video stream requested from clients. To achieve its purpose, many stream servers adopt multi-processors, sufficient memory, and RAID or SAN in their systems. In this paper, we propose a Linux-based parallel media streaming server. It is superior to the other systems in the storing structure, fault-tolerance, and service capacity. Since this system supports the web interlace, users can operate easily through the www. This system uses unique striping policy to distribute multimedia files into the parallel storage nodes. If a service request occurs, each storage node transmits striped files concurrently to the client. Its performance is better than the single media streaming service because of the parallel architecture.

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) are widely used in many applications. WSN acquires the data of surrounding environments with sensors attached to each node. It is important to design sensor networks that can communicate energy-efficiently as well as to get sensor readings with high accuracy. In this paper, we propose a novel routing scheme that assures high accuracy and significantly reduces data transmission costs in WSN with faults. First, we organize a number of network topologies randomly for routing sensor readings to the base station. Because every sensor node is connected each other with a single path, redundant transmissions are not incurred. It can reduce unnecessary transmissions and guarantee final sensor readings with high accuracy. To show the superiority of our scheme, we compare it with an existing multi-path routing scheme. In the result, our scheme has similar accuracy as the existing scheme and reduces unnecessary data transmissions by about 70% over the existing technique.

In the Internet environment in which best-effort services are provided, we need to guarantee end-to-end performance rather than hop performance to provide services with a variety of QoS(Quality of Service) requirements. The end-to-end performance is affected by many factors along the path of traffic flow. Most existing simulation studies are concentrated on a single node or a few nodes. We need much different approach considering the simulation execution time to simulate a large-scale network. In this paper, we derive requirements and present methodologies for the implementation of the simulator to simulate it. Then, we design and implement our simulator using OPNET. Performance evaluation is carried out using the simulator for large-scale KII (National Information Infrastructure in Korea). We use a self-similar traffic model and present some results on the end-to-end performance metric for the networks.

In order to avoid excessive vibration, it is required to carry out a vibration analysis of heat-exchanger/nuclear-reactor at the design stage. Information of eigen-frequency in the vibration problem is required to evaluate safety of heat-exchange/nuclear reactor. This paper describes a numerical method, Galerkin's method, to solve the eigenvalue problem occurred in a cantilever beam. The beam is restrained with added mass and spring at the free end or a node point of a mode shape. The numerical results of eigen-frequency were compared with simple analytical and experimental results given by simple approach and simple test, respectively. It is found that Galerkin's method is applicable to estimate the eigen-frequency of the cantilever beam. The frequencies become lower with increasing the added mass and the frequencies increase with the spring force. It is shown the heavy added mass has a role of support on the flexible tube. The eigen-frequency of the first mode, for the system with the added mass mounted at the free end, can be calculated by the approximate analytical method existing with more or less accuracy.
In this paper the Dynamic Minislot Reservation Protocol(DMRP) in which the control channel is divided into contention-less and contention minislots in order to reduce re-transmission probability in multicasting is proposed. In the network, earth node has two pairs of transceivers. A transceiver consisting of a fixed transmitter and a fixed receiver is used to control packet registration and the other transceiver is used to transmit data. Two types f transceivers for data transmission are considered : one is FT-TR(Fixed Transmitter-Tunable Receiver) and the other is TT-TR(Tunable Transmitter-Tunable Receiver). In the analysis, FT-TR and TT-TR single-hop passive star networks are compared. As results, we conclude that the DMRP protocol with dynamically divided control channel has improved the system performance such as throughput and system delay regardless of traffic type or network structure.

Most of routing schemes that protect the source's location from a malicious attacker usually make use of a path of a long length per message for the sake of lengthening the safety period. The biggest problem to such approaches is taking a very long latency in transferring messages to the destination. In this paper we show the problem to find the least-cost single path that is enough to keep the source-location always secure from the attacker, provided that it is used for the delivery of a set of messages given in priori, is NP-complete. Consequently we propose a routing protocol GSLP-w(GPSR-based Source-Location Privacy with crew size co) that is a trade-off between two extreme approaches. The advantage of GSLP-co lies in its enhanced safety period for the source and its lowered delivery latency in messaging. We consider NSP(Normalized Sefety Period) and NDL(Normalized Delivery Latency), measured in terms of the least number of hops to the destination, to achieve tangible interpretation of the results. We ran a simulation to confirm our claim by generating 100 topologies of 50,000 nodes with the average number of neighbors being 8. The results show that GSLP-$\omega$ provides more enhanced NSP compared to other protocols GSLP, an earlier version of GSLP-$\omega$, and PR-SP(Phantom Routing - Single Path), the most notable existing protocol for the source-location privacy, and less NDL than that of GSLP but more than that of PR-SP.

As the demand for ubiquitous mobile wireless Internet grows, vehicles are receiving a lot of attention as new networking platforms. The demand for 4G all-IP networks encourages vehicle networks to be connected using IPv6. By means of network mobility (NEMO) support, we can connect sensors, controllers, local ,servers as well as passengers' devices of a vehicle to the Internet through a mobile router. The mobile router provides the connectivity to the Internet and mobility transparency for the rest of the mobile nodes of an in-vehicle nv6 network. So, it is .important for the mobile router to assure reliable connection and a sufficient data rate for the group of nodes behind it. To provide reliability, this paper proposes an adaptive multihoming architecture of multiple mobile routers. Proposed architecture makes use of different mobility characteristics of different vehicles. Simulation results with different configurations show that the proposed architecture increases session preservation thus increases reliability and reduces packet loss. We also show that the proposed architecture is adaptive to heterogeneous access environment which provide different access coverage areas and data rates. The result shows that our architecture achieves sufficient data rates as well as session preservation.

The real-time data dissemination schemes exploit the spatiotemporal commuication approach which forwards data at the delivery speed calculated with the desired time deadline and the end-to-end distance in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). In practical environments, however, the performance of the real-time data dissemination might be degraded by additional and inevitable delay due to some holes. Namely, the holes lengthen the data delivery path and the spatiotemporal approach could not estimate a distance of the data delivery path. To deal with this, we propose A Hole Self-Organization Real-time Routing Protocol for Irregular Wireless Sensor Networks. In proposed protocol, nodes around holes could detect them at deploying phase. A hole is represented as a circle with center point and radius. This hole information is processed and provided as a form of location service. When a source queries a destination location, location provider replies certain points for avoiding holes as well as destination location. Thus, the source could set desired speed toward the destination via the points. Performance evaluation shows that provides better real-time service in practical environments.
In this paper, we present a new task scheduling scheme ior the efficient execution of the tasks of compound nodes of hierarchical task graph(HTG) on shared memory system. The proposed scheme for exploitation functional parallelism is autoscheduling that performs the role of scheduling by processor itself without any dedicated global scheduler. To adapt the proposed scheduling scheme for various platforms, Including a uni-processor systems, Java threads were used for implementation, and the performance is analyzed in comparison with a conventional bit vector method. The experimental results showed that the proposed method was found to be more efficient in its execution time and exhibited good load-balancing when using the experimental parameter values. Furthermore, the memory size could be reduced when using the proposed algorithm compared with a conventional scheme.
A mobile ad-hoc network is an autonomous system of mobile nodes which are free to move around randomly and organize themselves arbitrarily, hence a routing protocol that handles the dynamic network topology changes is required for the network. In this paper we present a multi -Path on-demand routing protocol called R-DSR (Robust Dynamic Source Routing), an extension to the existing IETF protocol DSR. The proposed protocol has it that every pair of 2-hop away nodes on the single route is additionally connected via an alternative node. Throughout mathematical analysis we show the proposed protocol reveals higher message delivery rate than that of the Das's multi-path protocol, currently known as one of the most typical approaches related to DSR.
